Schuyler EMS officially rebrands to Centralus Health EMS

MONTOUR FALLS, N.Y. (WETM) — Schuyler Emergency Medical Services (SEMS), a trusted provider of emergency response in the region, has officially rebranded as Centralus Health EMS. This update, announced from Centralus Health in a release on Thursday, May 1, reflects the integration of Arnot Health and Cayuga Health under the newly established Centralus Health system, continuing to prioritize outstanding emergency care. Roll up your sleeve for a good cause in Schuyler County According to the release, the EMS service, originally launched in 2023 through a contract between Cayuga Health and Schuyler County, delivers around-the-clock pre-hospital care and emergency transport throughout Schuyler County's rural and residential communities. That commitment remains unchanged with the new name and visual rebranding. The rebrand includes updated ambulance graphics showcasing the Centralus Health EMS name and logo. Operationally, however, the service remains fully consistent with what the community is used to. Twin Tiers animal shelters to participate in Empty the Shelters event 'While our ambulances will now carry the Centralus Health name and a new look, nothing else is changing,' said Scott Lyerla, MSN, RN, Senior Director, Clinical Operations & Emergency Services for Centralus Health. 'Our dedicated EMS team will continue to provide the same high-quality, timely care that our community relies on,' he said. The name change aligns with Centralus Health's broader mission to unify services and expand across the system. By combining the resources of Arnot Health and Cayuga Health, Centralus Health said it's creating a more integrated patient-centered care model while remaining deeply committed to each community it serves. Elmira Drive-in entrance screen topples after severe weather

ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — A historic establishment in Elmira suffered heavy damage on Tuesday after severe weather brought strong winds to the area. According to the Elmira Drive-in's Facebook, winds from the storms on Tuesday, April 29, hit the front entrance screen of the drive-in, resulting in it falling over. The screen was around 50 feet tall and workers were at the theater when it happened, but no one was near it when it fell. Twin Tiers animal shelters to participate in Empty the Shelters event Assessors were at the theater on Wednesday morning to record the damages. The theater said in the post that things will look different for a while, but they will still be available for business. The main screen will be used and future updates are expected from the theater on the status of weekend movies. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Tunnel to Towers joins Horseheads Fire Department for 17th annual golf tournament

PINE CITY, N.Y. (WETM)—Tunnel to Towers is an organization that serves first responders and veterans. On 9/11, a firefighter named Stephen Siller was heading home after his shift to meet his brothers when his scanner went off. He parked his car and ran through the tunnel with his gear on his shoulders to the Twin Towers, where he was last seen. Stephen was a dedicated firefighter who loved his country. His brother, Frank Siller, started the foundation Tunnels to Towers in honor of Stephen. It's really snowballed into a major charity,' said Dan Kelley Golf Tournament Supporter. Tunnel to Towers was founded on February 1, 2003, and has been helping the community since then. 'In 2014, I was in Naples with a friend, and I met a gentleman who was a retired firefighter from 9/11 in New York City, and he explained what they did in Tunnel to Towers and that they had a bravest barbecue in New York City in Staten Island every year. He explained that they had caterers come in, and I got interested,' said Doug Joseph, Owner of Stone Age BBQ. Doug went to New York City and was a part of Tunnel to Towers for 11 years. Tunnel to Towers has paid off more than 1200 mortgages of fallen firefighters and police officers so that the families will be able to function. The tournament is a partnership between Tunnel to Towers and the fire department. It will occur on Saturday, October 11, at Soaring Eagles Golf Course at 201 Middle Rd in Horseheads. '19 years ago, my father passed away in the line of duty, April 3, 2006. A couple of years after his passing, we decided to have a golf tournament just for our fire department and some locals. We just got together to have some fun and honor my dad,' said Kevin Sullivan, Golf Event Planner. 'This went on for 16 years, and this year we're honored to have a 17th year and the last 2 years, this year being our second, we're going to be partners with Tunnels to Towers,' he said.
