Spanish forward Ansu Fati has officially joined AS Monaco on a season-long loan from FC Barcelona, with the deal running until the end of the 2025–26 season. The 21-year-old will be looking to reignite his promising career in Ligue 1 after struggling for consistent game time at Camp Nou.
Once hailed as the next big thing in Barcelona's attack, Fati burst onto the scene with flair, pace, and an eye for goal. However, a series of unfortunate injuries disrupted his progress, keeping him on the sidelines for long spells and affecting his development.
With limited minutes under Hansi Flick last season and competition for places growing, the club has opted to loan him out to Monaco to ensure he gets regular playing time. Weight's been lifted: Demon's family bring smile back

Utterly unrecognisable from the tortured figure of the French Open press room, Alex de Minaur was all smiles back at Wimbledon after his first win for five long weeks, declaring he felt like a weight had been lifted from him. And his businesslike opening-round victory over Spanish grinder Roberto Carballes Baena in the late-morning sunshine felt extra-special for the Australian No.1, as he enjoyed the rare treat of having his family at courtside cheering him on. De Minaur's 6-2 6-2 7-6 (7-2) win was his first since he defeated Serbian Laslo Djere in the opening round at Roland Garros at the end of May. A couple of days later, the shock capitulation to Alexander Bublik from two sets up followed, leaving him offering up the unexpected public declaration of how mentally burnt out he felt. After a break, he returned, only to lose his first match at Queen's Club, and had since played only one exhibition affair last week as his main Wimbledon warm-up match. But he swore the sabbatical had done him good. "It felt like there was not as much pressure on myself. I just went out there, and my focus was on doing a job," he said. Dominant Demon's winning moment 🇦🇺#Wimbledon | @alexdeminaur — Wimbledon (@Wimbledon) July 1, 2025 "I knew that going in, I was in a really good head space, and I was hitting the ball really well, so it kind of gave me a sense of calmness. "I didn't feel like I was playing with a lot of weight. So it was great, because this match had a bit of everything. It had some really good tennis from my side in the first two sets, then he lifted the level and I was in some tough moments, which I was able to play through. "Then at the end I ended up raising my level when I most needed it and played a very clutch kind of tiebreak, going after the ball." Asked whether this signalled a potential return to top form, de Minaur, who reached the quarter-finals against Novak Djokovic last year only to suffer a season-compromising hip injury while winning his fourth-round match against Arthur Fils, said: "Whether I'm back to my best, I can only show that by playing the tennis. "At least I know that I'm in a good spot to perform. I'm going to give myself the best chance to perform." The 11th seed was also buoyed by having his Spanish mother Esther, and his younger siblings Daniel, Cristina and Sara at courtside, as well as fiancee Katie Boulter making a brief appearance. "My mum has definitely started travelling a little bit more frequently, and she tries to make most of the slams," said de Minaur. "My siblings, it's a little bit more of a rarer occasion that they come out. Obviously this is probably the first time this year they're all together. So the whole family is out here, which is pretty cool and pretty special. This definitely feels like a second 'home' slam for me." He's not looking too far ahead, with a potential fourth-round meeting with Djokovic in the offing, as he has a handful with his next opponent, Arthur Cazaux, a French qualifier who knocked out one de Minaur's contemporaries from junior days, Adam Walton. "Arthur's obviously very talented. He's had some big scalps before, and coming through quallies, he's playing with a lot of confidence. It's going to be another battle," said de Minaur.

Spanish Point Guard Mario Saint-Supery Commits to Gonzaga

Spanish Point Guard Mario Saint-Supery Commits to Gonzaga originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Spanish basketball standout Mario Saint-Supery has officially committed to and signed with Gonzaga, bringing clarity to weeks of speculation surrounding his future. After reports initially linked the talented point guard to the Bulldogs, Saint-Supery confirmed his decision, significantly boosting Gonzaga's roster for the 2025-26 season. Advertisement Saint-Supery's decision to leave BAXI Manresa and head to Spokane marks a significant moment for his career and the Gonzaga program. The 19-year-old guard, known for his creative playmaking, scoring instincts, and high basketball IQ, arrives with an impressive résumé from his time in Spain's top-flight Liga ACB and on the international stage. While on loan from Unicaja Málaga to BAXI Manresa, Saint-Supery was named to the ACB's Best Young Team, showcasing his ability to impact games at a high level despite his youth. Internationally, Saint-Supery starred at the 2024 FIBA U18 EuroBasket, averaging over 21 points, five rebounds, and six assists per game, solidifying his reputation as one of Europe's most promising guards. His blend of scoring and distribution should translate well to the NCAA, where Gonzaga will look to utilize his talents both on and off the ball. For Gonzaga, this addition is another example of Mark Few's ongoing success in attracting and developing international talent. The Bulldogs, already boasting a backcourt featuring Arizona State transfer Adam Miller and Colgate transfer Braeden Smith, now gain a versatile weapon who brings professional experience and a track record of thriving against elite competition. Saint-Supery's arrival addresses a key need for Gonzaga: adding a dynamic playmaker who can break down defenses, create for teammates, and bring an edge defensively. His professional pedigree should also help ease his transition into the college game, where expectations will be high from day one. Advertisement The decision to come to Gonzaga also reflects the changing landscape of college basketball. The allure of NCAA competition and its visibility for NBA scouts continues to attract international prospects. Saint-Supery has become the latest European standout to choose to enhance their profiles stateside. Gonzaga's 2025-26 roster takes another significant step forward with this official commitment. Saint-Supery is poised to make an immediate impact, and his presence could be a difference-maker as the Bulldogs look to position themselves for another deep NCAA tournament run. Kylian Mbappé could make his Club World Cup debut after being listed as substitute against Juventus

Associated Press MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Kylian Mbappé is back. The Real Madrid forward could make his Club World Cup debut Tuesday against Juventus in the round of 16 after being listed among coach Xabi Alonso's substitutes when lineups were released. Mbappé missed the first three games of the tournament with an illness. Alonso said Monday it was possible Mbappé could play in his first Club World Cup match in the knockout round, and the French star arrived with the team several hours before the game was set to begin at Hard Rock Stadium. Mbappé had a gastrointestinal illness before Real Madrid's opening Club World Cup match and was treated at a hospital. He sat out all three group matches as Madrid won two and drew the other. He walked onto the field ahead of Tuesday's match to an ovation from the fans in the soggy venue that had seen downpours throughout the afternoon. Mbappé's return brings star power to a tournament that took a hit when Lionel Messi and Inter Miami were eliminated in the round of 16 by Mbappé's and Messi's former club, Paris Saint-Germain. Madrid captain Dani Carvajal and defender Éder Militão were also set to return on Tuesday. Carvajal has not played since tearing his ACL and undergoing surgery last fall. Both were also listed as substitutes. ___ AP soccer: recommended
