Qatar Insurance Groupwas recognized at the Google Cloud Summit Doha 2025 for driving innovation in the financial industry. This recognition marks a significant milestone in QIC's strategic journey to revolutionize insurance through advanced technologies and global partnerships.
The summit, held at the Qatar National Convention Centre, brought together over 1,500 attendees, including Google Cloud partners, government leaders, enterprise customers, and technology innovators. The event focused on the latest breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, data, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
QIC's recognition highlighted its bold adoption of cloud-native technologies and AI-driven solutions, as well as its role as a thought leader shaping the future of the industry. Notably, QIC organized and hosted the annual fourth edition of the MENA Insurtech Summit and the inaugural MENA Fintech Summit earlier this year in Doha. These events brought together global experts, regulators, investors and startups to accelerate innovation, regulation, and investment in digital insurance and financial services.
During the Google Cloud Summit 2025, QIC Group CEO Salem Al Mannai held high-level meetings with senior Google Cloud executives, includingAnthony Cirot - Vice President, EMEA South, Ghassan Kosta - Regional General Manager, and Basel Haddadin - Regional Sales Manager. The discussions focused on ongoing digital transformation projects and expanding collaborative opportunities in areas such as AI-powered customer experience, real-time data analytics, operational automation, and next-generation cloud security.

UDST receives Google Cloud Research Excellence Award for Cloud & infra AI

Tribune News Network Doha The University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) has been honoured with the prestigious Google Cloud Research Excellence Award in Cloud and Infra AI at the Google Cloud Summit held in Doha. The award was presented by HE Mohammed bin Ali bin Mohammed Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, to Dr Salem Al-Naemi, president of UDST, and was received on his behalf by Dr Rachid Benlamri, vice president, Academic Affairs. This accolade recognises UDST's outstanding contributions to applied research, leveraging the power of AI and advanced cloud infrastructure solutions provided by Google Cloud. The award specifically celebrates the innovative research conducted through UDST's G-Lab, a pioneering facility supported by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, focusing on big data analytics, bioinformatics, engineering, and high-performance cloud computing. Commenting on the award, Dr Salem Al-Naemi stated: 'This recognition is a testament to the University's continuous commitment to research excellence and technological innovation. We are proud to see our efforts in AI and cloud computing acknowledged. As Qatar's national applied university, we continue to drive forward-thinking research aligned with the country's Third National Development Strategy.' UDST is also dedicated to applying the agile and sustainable solutions offered by Google Cloud to equip students with future-proof skills and hands-on cloud experience. These include Google Compute and Storage for advanced simulations and modeling, BigQuery and Google AI to enable researchers to analyze vast datasets and accelerate breakthrough discoveries. The award was received during a special ceremony at the summit, attended by distinguished officials, experts and researchers, further enhancing UDST's academic standing and reaffirming its leadership in utilising advanced technologies to drive scientific research and support sustainable development.
