GA jailer admits providing alcohol, THC to inmate, GBI says
A Georgia jailer is behind bars herself after the Georgia Bureau of Investigation says she gave forbidden items to inmates.
On May 22, 2025, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office requested the GBI to investigate a Franklin County jailer, Emaleigh Smith, 23.
Agents found THC edibles and alcohol in her car, which was parked at the jail.
The GBI said Smith admitted to providing alcohol, nicotine, and THC edibles to inmate Qwelon Johnson, 33, of Lavonia, multiple times.

Smith was charged with providing items for possession by inmates, crossing of guard lines with an intoxicant.
Johnson was charged with possession of prohibited items by an inmate, and possession of a weapon by an inmate.

Police recovered seven firearms, two of which were stolen, early Thursday morning while on 'proactive patrol' around a former nightclub location. Officers investigated and arrested four individuals, according to the post. Two of the seven firearms recovered were stolen. One was from Dayton and one was from another county. A 16-year-old male was arrested in connection to an aggravated assault where he was accused of shooting at another juvenile. An 18-year-old male was arrested for tampering with evidence, carrying a concealed weapon, obstructing official business, and resisting arrest. A 20-year-old male was arrested for tampering with evidence, carrying a concealed weapon, and obstructing official business. And a 35-year-old female was arrested for carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a controlled substance, according to the post. Amazon plans to open a 'sortation center' in west Georgia, bringing more than 1,000 jobs with it. The company announced that the 1.6 million square foot facility is expected to open in 2027. Iowa women's basketball offers nation's top 2027 recruit Kaleena Smith On the heels of the program offering four-star prospect Madi Mignery, Iowa women's basketball continued its push for the nation's top 2027 recruits by extending an offer to five-star guard Kaleena Smith. Smith, who hails from Ontario, Calif., is ranked as the top national recruit by both ESPN and 247Sports, and the No. 1 recruit in the Golden State per Prep Girls Hoops. The 5-foot-6 point guard's unbelievable stat line fits her top national billing. Smith holds a career average of 29.1 points, 7.3 assists, 4.2 steals and 3.2 rebounds per game over 65 games played in the past two years at Ontario Christian High School. Smith shoots 51% from the field, 39% from 3-point territory, and 85% from the free-throw line, per MaxPreps.
