Lamar Odom told to vacate LA home after 'failing to pay rent' despite earning over $114MILLION in NBA career

Daily Mail30-05-2025
NBA champion Lamar Odom has been ordered to vacate a Los Angeles home after allegedly failing to pay rent, according to a lawsuit.
Odom, who was the 2010-11 Sixth Man of the Year and won two titles with the Lakers, made $114million throughout his 14-year-career.
However, as seen in a lawsuit filed in LA County Court, he was recently sued by a landlord for allegedly failing to pay $45,000 in back rent, with a later filing showing a judge ordered Odom to leave the home on April 28.
According to the lawsuit - which the ex-basketball player did not respond to - Odom entered into an oral agreement with Executive Recovery Group, Inc., in December on a month-to-month agreement on the home.
He allegedly agreed to pay $15,000 per month to stay there, with rent due on the first of every month.
However, Odom was accused by the property's owner of not paying three months of rent from January 1 to March 31.
The lawsuit was first reported upon by the New York Post.
Daily Mail has reached out to Odom's representatives for comment.
Odom, who nearly died of a drug overdose in 2015 at a brothel in Nevada, battled drug and alcohol addiction throughout much of his life.
As seen in the suit, Odom was to direct his rent payments to 'Montage Recovery CA LLC c/o Elliott Liebhard.'
According to a LinkedIn profile of someone with the same name, Liebhard is the CFO at Renewal Health Group, which operates Montare Behavioral Health Group.
Odom's listed address in the suit is the same as Montare's 'Montare on the Hill' location in Studio City, which describes itself as a 'mental health residential treatment center.'
Daily Mail has also reached out to Liebhard for comment.
Odom allegedly received notice to pay or leave the property, namely a three-day-notice on March 11 that was physically posted to the house, the complaint states.
The 'fair rental value' of the home was also valued at $500 per day.
Executive Recovery Group has also claimed that Odom was mailed the same notice a day later on March 12, as 'no person of suitable age or discretion' could be found at the home.
Ultimately, the former Lakers star and ex-husband of Khloe Kardashian was ordered by a court to leave the property and hand over possession of the property to the owner on April 28.
In addition to the unpaid rent, he was also sued for the forfeiture of the agreement, lawyers' fees and damages in regards to the aforementioned 'fair rental value.'
Odom is believed to have been sober since his brush with death and recently launched meme coin $ODOM, described as 'the world's first Meme coin with a mission to combat drug abuse.'
Odom's foray into cryptocurrency recently led him to a crypto gala hosted by President Donald Trump.
And the 45-year-old was heckled by protestors as he made his way into the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia for the event.
Odom and about 200 others - who were all invited as top buyers of the president's $RUMP coin - went to the gala and heard about Trump's plans for bitcoin.
The No. 4 overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft, Odom began his career with the Clippers before spending seven seasons with the purple and gold.
He also had stints with the Heat (before his time in LA) and Mavericks, and finished up his career back with the Clippers in 2013.

Horrifying moment influencers are hit by a car while taste testing a burger inside a restaurant

This is the shocking moment a food influencer couple were hit 'directly' by a car while testing their burgers on camera. Nina Santiago - known online as NinaUnrated - and Patrick Blackwood were reviewing a plate of food at CuVee's Culinary Creations in Houston, Texas when an SUV crashed through the window and directly into them. As the pair dug in to their extensive spread of salmon sliders, presidential oysters and lobster, an SUV pummels through the window of and smashes into the couple's table. The influencers were then thrown from their seats and they quickly scramble away as glass rains down around them. Footage then shows the pair covered in bloody gashes as they are rushed to a local hospital in Texas. 'I'm just blessed, thank you Lord. Thank you universe. I'm just blessed and grateful for everything,' Mr Blackwood said in a video from the hospital. He added it was the 'most scariest s**t ever'. Ms Santiago seemed to remain on a hospital bed for longer and admitted 'I don't feel good' at one point. 'My body feels tight, my head hurts a little but, my jaw hurts a little bit,' she said, before adding 'I'm just glad I'm alive'. 'This is the second accident this month. The fact that we walked away from both accidents, I don't know whether we are lucky or f****d',' she went on to say. 'Its like I want to break down and cry and I just can't, I'm trying to not freak out.' The cause of the crash is unknown but local media reported that Tyler police and UT Health EMS were at the scene after the car hit the restaurant. The pair typically film themselves eating huge spreads of food and sharing the videos on social media to her hundreds of thousands of followers. In the YouTube caption that accompanied the video, the pair wrote: 'We can't even begin to express how incredibly fortunate we feel to be alive after what happened to us. 'We were just sitting in a cosy booth at our favourite restaurant, enjoying happy hour with an amazing spread salmon sliders, presidential oysters, a macaroni and cheese flight (classic, lobster, and truffle), shrimp and grits, and some refreshing drinks. 'We were laughing, having a great time, and right as we tapped our sliders together in a "boom!" cheers moment, out of nowhere, this SUV came barrelling through the glass wall at 35-40 mph. 'No warning at all glass shattered everywhere, chaos erupted, and it hit right next to Patrick on the outside of the booth. 'We were inches from disaster, but by some miracle, we're both okay, just shaken and forever changed. 'This terrifying experience has made us realize just how precious life is. 'Tomorrow is not promised do what you want to do today, live happy today, let go of everything holding you back, and forgive everybody. 'You don't have time for that nonsense. We truly feel like we've been given a second chance, and we're committed to making the most of it. 'We're aiming to be beyond great amazing and we're working on ourselves every day to become better people and crush our goals. 'We wish you all the best in life. Stay safe out there because life is so unexpected. That SUV came out of nowhere, and all we were doing was enjoying a simple meal.' Ms Santiago went on to share some further snaps of their bloody wounds and their trip in hospital. She wrote in the accompanying caption: 'I'm beyond grateful to be alive after an SUV crashed through the glass wall at @cuveesculinarycreations in Houston, TX, shattering everything while @iampatrickblackwood and I recorded an eating show. 'It hit us directly me on his left, him on my right as I bit into a delicious salmon slider. Out of nowhere, but we survived. 'This experience showed me who truly matters; life's too short for grudges or anger. Let go, forgive, live in the now, and cherish those around you this could've been our last meal. 'Thankful to the universe and our angel pup Loyal, who passed in Nov 2024 and protected us from above.'

Las Vegas is in freefall, expert warns

A retail expert has warned Las Vegas is in freefall with consumer spending slumping, with one recent visitor raising concerns over an outrageous tip demand. The Nevada city, known for its lavish shows and around-the-clock gambling, has recorded a large drop in tourism and spending in recent months. According to the Nevada Department of Taxation, sales at food and beverage outlets, clothing, shoes and jewelry retailers have all fallen in the last 11 months. From July 2024 to May 2025 food services and drinking outlets clocked in just under $11.7 billion in sales, down 1.6 percent. That drop might look small but represents a decline of around $191 million, with clothing, shoes and jewelry stores down $140 million over the same period. Bryan Wachter (pictured), president of the Retail Association of Nevada, told the Las Vegas Review Journal that fewer consumers is due to the low amount of visitors. On Sunday, Carlos Gil, a marketing consultant, posted an image of a receipt he was handed asking for an additional tip - after already paying 22 percent to his server. The meal, which was for 30 people, came to $1,729.39 after the tip - with Gil crossing out the additional tip line. He posted it to social media saying: 'Tipping culture in Las Vegas is OUT OF CONTROL. 'My bill was $1,729.39 and they still slid the receipt over with an 'additional tip' line. At what point does this highway robbery end? 'What I'm calling out is why they're still asking for MORE on top of that. At what point does tipping turn into straight-up extortion? '22% was already added… and they still asked for more. That's not gratuity, that's greed.' Gil is not alone, just last week stunned partiers in Sin City went viral after they shared the eyewatering sums they had been paying for drinks. A bucket of six Coors lights was priced at a staggering $76.99, with 24 cold ones running up to $290.99 - a near 15 times markup from its usual $20 retail price. Cases of Topo Chico or Truly hard seltzers, which typically cost around $30 to $35, were also sold for almost $300. For drinkers who want a mixed cocktail, a large Bloody Mary would set them back $40 per drink. And six shots, a total of just 9 fluid ounces, costs $99.99 in the party hub on the iconic Vegas strip. Food options at the pool weren't any more reasonable, with a chicken tender platter or a cheeseburger slider plate running up to $89.99. Besides price gouging, the city welcomed just under 3.1 million tourists in June, an 11% drop compared to the same time in 2024. There were 13% fewer international travelers, and hotel occupancy fell by about 15%, according to data from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority has also warned that the number of airline passengers arriving will continue to plummet. They warned the number of inbound passengers will plunge to around 95,000 seats per day for the rest of the year - a worrying prediction that represents a 2.3 percent fall from 2024 numbers. The decline is largely being fueled by a sharp 18.5 percent drop-off in traffic from Canada, which comprises the largest share of international visitors to the Nevada city Mayor Shelley Berkley said tourism from Canada has dried up from a torrent 'to a drip.' Same with Mexico. Predictions point to the city losing out on $12.5 billion in international visitor spending for 2025.

Medtronic plans to add two independent directors after Elliott takes large stake

Aug 19 (Reuters) - Medtronic (MDT.N), opens new tab said on Tuesday it would add two new directors to its board and set up committees to help boost its lagging shares, after activist investor Elliott Investment Management emerged as one of its largest shareholders. The medical-device maker said veteran med-tech executives John Groetelaars, once interim CEO for Dentsply Sirona (XRAY.O), opens new tab, and Bill Jellison, formerly CFO at Stryker (SYK.N), opens new tab, would join its board as independent directors. Medtronic also raised its full-year profit forecast for fiscal 2026 and said it expects a smaller hit of about $185 million from U.S. President Donald Trump's tariffs, versus the $200 million to $350 million it had previously expected. The company's finance chief, Thierry Pieton, said in a conference call that execution of mitigation efforts helped reduce the impact from tariffs. Shares of Medtronic, which have risen 16% so far this year, fell 5% in early trading. Edward Jones analyst John Boylan said investors may be disappointed in the unchanged fiscal-year 2026 sales growth forecast despite the company's strong first-quarter results. "Investors were hoping for more operating improvements and more sales growth than we got this quarter and in guidance," Boylan said. "Our decision to become one of Medtronic's largest investors was driven by our strong conviction that the company is entering a new chapter of exceptional value creation defined by accelerating growth, operational improvement and enhanced strategic clarity," said Elliott Partner Marc Steinberg. Elliott, which has not disclosed the value of its stake in the company, did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for the details. Medtronic said one of the new committees would seek tuck-in mergers and acquisitions, research and development investments and potential divestitures, while the other would look to boost earnings growth. The panels, to be led by CEO Geoff Martha, will include Groetelaars and Jellison. "We view these changes as an incrementally positive development for Medtronic," Leerink Partners analyst Mike Kratky said in a note, pointing to Elliott's track record of boosting share performance for companies such as Cardinal Health (CAH.N), opens new tab.
