'Witness our lives uncensored, in a never-before-seen way':Judas Priest documentary co-directed by Tom Morello in the works
A Judas Priest documentary helmed by Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello is on the way.
'The Ballad Of Judas Priest' - from Sony Music Vision - will be co-directed by Morello and Sam Dunn ('Metal: A Headbanger's Journey').
A release date is not known at this time.
Rob Halford and co told Variety: 'We have lived and breathed metal for over five decades, and finally in this documentary we are summoning our congregation to officially witness our lives uncensored, in a never-before-seen way…the cassock comes off, revealing Priest in all its metal glory!'
Morello and Dunn added: 'Tracing their incredible 50-year journey, this film will capture how Judas Priest both defined the sound and look of metal, but also made it a more inclusive place along the way. We are grateful to the band for allowing us such intimate, unfiltered access to their lives and look forward to bringing this film to the metal masses around the world.'
Meanwhile, frontman Halford previously admitted he felt an "enormous feeling of freedom" when he came out as gay on MTV in 1998.
The heavy metal legend never planned to announce to the world that he was homosexual when he casually referred to himself as a "gay man" during the Q A and he is still unsure whether he would have publicly come out if he had decided to make a more grandiose statement.
In an interview with Apple Music's Hattie Collins in 2021, he said: "It was one of those things where I'm at MTV in New York, I'm talking about a project that I was working on called 'Two', with myself and John 5, the amazing guitar player. I was doing the rounds in New York City and ended up at MTV talking about this project. And in the casual course of the conversation, we were talking about the overall music, and the direction, and the feelings. And I said something to the effect of, 'Well, speaking as a gay man, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.' And then I heard the producer's clipboard bounce on the floor. It was one of those gay sharp intakes, 'Oh my God, he's come out.'
'And so that was it. So it was very simple. I think if I'd … I still say today, if I'd have really thought this through, like today's the day I'm going to come out, maybe I even wouldn't … maybe I may not have come out per se, because it's still a big moment for so many of us, with a close friend, with someone at school, with mum and dad, with whomever, to actually say, 'Hey, I'm a gay guy or I'm a gay girl.' It's just a big, big deal. It's just a glorious, glorious moment.
'So there I was, and I did the interview, and then I walked back to the hotel, and went back to my room, and go well, that's it, now everybody knows. And then, of course, it hit the news wires and that was that.
'So wow, it was just this enormous feeling of freedom, and the pressure was gone, and there's no more talking behind your back because you have all this ammunition of power as a gay person now, as an out gay person. Nothing can hurt you because this is it. You can't throw insults, you can't throw rumours, you can't say anything negative about me because I am who I am. So that's my wonderful memory of my great coming out day.'
The 'Breaking The Law' rocker also opened up on the effect hiding his sexuality had on his mental health as the band achieved success in the 1970s and 1980s.
Halford, 70, recalled how he would lock himself away in his hotel room after the band had played live because he was worried about being outed before he came out to his parents and bandmates.
He said: "As a youngish guy in a thriving heavy metal band, it was difficult because I was in that place where a lot of us protected everybody else.
'[I thought] 'Oh, I better not come out because it will upset my mum and dad. I hadn't better come out because it will upset my friends, I hadn't better come out because it'll upset my band and my fans and record company.
'I had all that riding on my shoulders through those moments of Priest when we were gaining headway, particularly in America. It was difficult y'know, I went back to my room and turned on the TV and that was it.
'I couldn't go to clubs, I couldn't go to bars because it was suggested, 'Don't do that, because paparazzi might get you and we'll have to do the cover story' and all this innuendo.
'Mentally, on top of being the gay man in the closet, I had all these extra pieces piled onto my life at that time.'

Kristin Cavallari feels like a 'new person' after divorce and cutting ties with her dad
Kristin Cavallari feels like a new person after going through a divorce and cutting ties with her dad. The 38-year-old TV personality finalised her divorce from the former NFL Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler in 2022 after nearly seven years of marriage because she "didn't want to be in a toxic relationship anymore". And Kristin decided to cut ties with her real estate dad Dennis in 2021 because he "crossed the boundary" with her three children - sons Camden, 12, and Jaxon, 11, as well as her daughter Saylor, nine - whom she had with Jay and has custody of. She told the US magazine People: "My divorce and my dad really forced me to take a hard look in the mirror and do the work. "I had to get very real with myself about the lack of self-love that I had, and then I had to build myself up again. "I finally, for the first time in my life, do love myself." The reality TV star - who shot to fame on MTV's 'Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County' when she was 17 - declared that ejecting her dad out of her life was the "best decision" she has "ever made". Kristin - who declined to go into detail about how Dennis went too far - admitted: "This might sound messed up to some people, but cutting my dad out is the best decision I've ever made. "Life's too short." The fashion designer has spoken "probably too much so" of her relationships, including the 13-year age gap with Montana Boyz TikToker Mark Estes, who she dated for seven months in 2024. Also, she described the country singer Morgan Wallen, as "good in bed" when they struck up a romance - which Kristin has never publicly revealed when they dated amid rumours of a relationship in 2023. The former 'Hills' MTV reality show cast member broke her promise that she would "never go back to reality TV" after she allowed the entertainment news brand E! to film some shows from her 'Let's Be Honest' podcast tour, which took place in March 2025, for a new programme. And Kristin hopes the new show will shut down some misconceptions about her. She said: "Headlines love to put me in this box that has to do with men and sex. And I get [the interest], but I'm a real person. It affects me. I think people's idea of me is very different from who I actually am ... "I'm really happy that I did [the show] because it was my favourite experience on a show, and truly the only show that I've done where I can say it was 100 per cent authentic."

Jenna Ortega felt 'unhappy' after Wednesday success
Jenna Ortega became an "unhappy person" after season one of 'Wednesday'. The 22-year-old actress plays Wednesday Addams in the hit Netflix show, but Jenna initially struggled to cope with the pressures of fame and success. She told Harper's Bazaar magazine: "To be quite frank, after the show and trying to figure everything out, I was an unhappy person. "After the pressure, the attention - as somebody who's quite introverted, that was so intense and so scary." Jenna now serves as a producer on 'Wednesday' and she's loving the experience. She said: "I sit in on meetings and listen and learn. I'm still finding my footing in that area." Jenna also teased season two of the show, describing it as "bigger, bolder, gorier, and a bit darker" than the first. She explained: "It's sillier in the best way possible." The actress has also welcomed the show's move from Romania to Ireland. Jenna explained: "Dublin was incredible. "I loved everything about that experience, the cast, the crew. It was so sweet and so awesome. That island is so beautiful." Jenna made the most of her free time when she wasn't filming 'Wednesday'. She said: "On weekends, we'd go down to Kerry and Cork and Donegal and swim in thunderstorms. "I spent a lot of time laying in fields, going on hikes with my dog. I was raising chinchillas, and I'd read books with my chinchillas in my lap. Maybe I'd go to a karaoke bar one night or host a dinner at my place - things like that. I tried to make it feel as family-like as possible." Jenna has enjoyed a meteoric rise in recent years, starring in a host of big-budget projects, including 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice', 'Scream' and 'Wednesday'. But the actress previously admitted that she's still adjusting to her own fame and success. She told MTV: "It's definitely an adjustment." Jenna actually relished being able to lean on Winona Ryder - her 'Beetlejuice Beetlejuice' co-star - for some advice about navigating the potential pitfalls of fame. She explained: "I'm very grateful to be where I am and she had kind of a similar thing to say. "It was just so nice to speak to someone who actually understood me."

Confidence is really sexy, says Heidi Montag
Heidi Montag thinks confidence is "really sexy". The 38-year-old star believes self-confidence "goes a lot further than people think". Speaking to Us Weekly, she explained: "Confidence is really sexy, and it goes a lot further than people think. [It] radiates from the inside." Heidi is set to release her long-awaited new album, 'Heidiwood', later this week, and she's described the record as "sexy". The reality TV star - who released her last album, 'Superficial', back in 2010 - shared: "I've been working on it for a year, and it's just that fun, sexy, escape pop album that I feel like everybody's needing right now. So each song is a bop." Heidi grew up in the small ski town of Crested Butte in Colorado - but she always thought she was destined for stardom. Heidi - who has been married to Spencer Pratt since 2008 - recently told The Independent: "It was a smaller version of Aspen that was more exclusive. "Dolly Parton came there, [as did] Madonna and Michael Keaton and all these really big producers, so whenever celebrities came in, I just always felt this wind of significance and fate for myself." Heidi believes she's always been destined for Hollywood and for success. The blonde beauty - who rose to prominence as a cast member on 'The Hills', the MTV reality series - said: "My mom always jokes that I was in a hot pink Barbie Ferrari one minute with my fake fur coat, and then next, I had a backwards hat on and I was playing in the mud. I've always had two parts of myself and I felt 'called' for Hollywood and for success." Heidi has actually been inspired by Jennifer Lopez, observing that it's possible to be "hot and fit and older and timeless". Asked if she's the most confident she's ever been, Heidi recently told Us Weekly: "Yes, especially considering my age. "I can't really compare myself to when I was 20, lifting weights and having a perfectly flat stomach. I'm not going to have the same body, and that's OK. "I look at someone like Jennifer Lopez, and that makes me think you can be hot and fit and older and timeless."
