Behind-the-scenes tensions and ego clashes often make headlines in Bollywood as much as the films themselves. In a resurfaced interview with Rediff, actor Dia Mirza opened up about an unpleasant encounter with Kareena Kapoor Khan in the early 2000s, shedding light on a moment that left a lasting impression. Recalling the incident, Dia said it took place at an event organized by the Sahara Group in Lucknow, where several Bollywood stars, including Kareena Kapoor, Urmila Matondkar, Namrata Shirodkar, and Dia herself, were scheduled to appear. 'We were supposed to wear cotton salwaar-kameezes with the national flag,' she explained. 'Kareena wanted to wear a ghagra choli with heavy jewellery that she had got specially made for herself. Above all, she was not wearing the national flag.'
According to Dia, this deviation from the agreed dress code did not sit well with the group. 'Namrata [Shirodkar] was quite upset seeing Kareena was not abiding with the required uniformity. I told Namrata to pick up her outfit and walk out, so that we could sort it out privately.' However, tensions escalated unexpectedly. 'Suddenly, something struck Kareena. She started screaming at me at the top of her voice, 'Who the hell are you? Who are you to advise Namrata?' I was flabbergasted and very upset. I left the room, without retorting,' Mirza said.

She added that the situation took a surprising turn shortly afterward. 'Half-an-hour later, her secretary Jatin [who also happened to be Dia's secretary] knocked at my room to say Kareena wanted to know whether I was ready. A few minutes later, she was talking to me as if nothing had happened. I have come to the conclusion that Kareena is a girl who does not realise when she is irrational, unfair and loud.'
Despite the rocky start to their relationship, the two actresses later appeared together in the 2009 film Kurbaan. Over the years, their interactions became more cordial. Dia even appeared on Kareena's Radio Mirchi show, where the two discussed broader topics like mental health, social media pressures, and staying positive in a fast-paced world.

Rekha Shot Parineeta Song Kaisi Yeh Pehli On Amitabh Bachchan's Kaun Banega Crorepati Set

Last Updated: Composer Shantanu Moitra recalls meeting Rekha during the Parineeta shoot, sharing how she welcomed him warmly on the Kaun Banega Crorepati set. As Parineeta marks two decades since its release, composer Shantanu Moitra has shared a special memory from the film's shoot. The musical drama, which introduced Vidya Balan to the big screen and featured the late Pradeep Sarkar as director, holds a unique place in Hindi cinema. Shantanu recalled his first meeting with the legendary actress Rekha, who starred in a cameo for the song Kaisi Paheli Zindagaani. Speaking to Radio Nasha, Shantanu said, 'When I found out that Rekha ji was doing Kaisi Paheli, I was like, 'Wow'. But let me tell you a story about that. I got a call from Pradeep Sarkar. He called me to the set for the song's shoot. But I was working on some other songs at the time, so I told him that I was busy. He said that Rekha ji wanted to meet me. I was stunned." He recalled that the song was being shot in the same sets as Amitabh Bachchan's Kaun Banega Crorepati. 'They took me to her makeup room. They were shooting the song in the same set where they shoot Kaun Banega Crorepati these days. This was the first time I'd been inside a makeup room, and it had those light bulbs around the mirror. Back to camera, the diva was sitting," he said. Shantanu added, 'She looked around and asked, 'You've made the song? It's amazing, I hope I can do justice to it. I have a small request. I would like you to stay for the shoot.' She was talking to a first-timer, I will never forget it. She would occasionally make eye-contact with me, as if to ask if it was going alright." He also praised director Pradeep Sarkar's detailed planning, explaining how every shot was carefully storyboarded before filming. Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha: Bollywood's Most Talked-About Pairing While Rekha and Amitabh Bachchan have always denied any off-screen relationship, their on-screen chemistry remains one of Bollywood's most enduring and fascinating topics. Their 1981 film Silsila is often remembered as their most iconic work together, though they shared screen space in many others, including Muqaddar Ka Sikandar (1978), Mr. Natwarlal (1979), and Ram Balram (1980). Their pairing created a buzz that defined an era in Hindi cinema. In a special interview celebrating 25 years of her career, Rekha spoke about the respect she holds for Amitabh and revealed the best compliment he ever gave her — one that left a lasting impression. She once said, in a chat with Rediff, 'I think the only compliment he has knowingly or unknowingly paid me was that he gave me an opportunity to work with a great co-star like him. That is the biggest compliment I have ever received." view comments First Published: August 12, 2025, 12:47 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Korean drama 'Beyond The Bar' faces backlash over controversial age-gap romance

An ongoing Korean drama titled ' Beyond The Bar ' has been garnering major traction even though only a few episodes have been out since its premiere on August 2. Recently, however, the makers of the show have come under fire for trying to create another 'age-gapped couple' on the show. A couple with a big age gap hinted at 'Beyond The Bar' Videos and screencaps from one of the recent episodes of the show have gone viral online, after certain aspects of the show hinted that a new romance may be blossoming between two of the characters. This plot line, however, was not welcomed by most fans of the show, who called out the creators of the drama about how unnecessary romances were being added to the show. Another major factor that became a topic of concern for most was the big age gap between the actors playing characters Seok Hoon and Kang Hyo Min. The scene that went viral showed Hyo Min visibly blushing while thinking about spending time with Seok Hoon under the rain, hinting at an alleged romance in the show. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo Many fans of the show called the action out as the male lead of the drama, actor Lee Jin Wook , is 16 years older than the actress who plays Hyo Min. Former DIA member turned actor Jung Chaeyeon plays the role, which has caused a lot of debate amongst the fans of the show as well as the actors. Fans react to the scene Many k-netizens took to their online social media account to express their disdain over the matter and shared how the new plot line is not needed in the show. One fan commented, 'Forget about the age gap… Literally, who gets butterflies over their boss at work? You'd just want to go home early. If she's a lawyer, she probably worked hard to keep up her grades at a good university, struggled through law school, passed the bar, and now works under a boss doing tough professional work', while another shared, 'The stuff that sells well is rom-coms that advertise themselves as such, not shows from other genres or episodic dramas with romance mixed in. Aren't there more people who dislike that?' The Korean drama has not been marketed as a romance drama, and has instead been represented as a legal drama that explores the hardships faced by a lawyer. Previously, Jung Chaeyeon had also been heavily criticised for her performance on the show. Many at the time commented about how she was not doing justice to the character and the plot of the drama, even when she had made the switch to acting years ago.
