Efforts on to bring back woman stranded in Muscat
She posted a video on WhatsApp groups, tearfully appealing to officials and public representatives to rescue her and bring her back home. According to her statement, an agent from West Godavari district sent her to Muscat for employment in March this year.
Since starting her job there, her employers allegedly subjected her to harassment, including denying her proper food. Ramalakshmi claimed that even after approaching the Indian Embassy in Muscat, she received no response, prompting her to plead for help from officials and public representatives for her repatriation. Her son, Satish, stated that a police complaint has been filed regarding the matter.
Responding swiftly to the issue, Konaseema Centre for Migration officials, through the Indian Embassy, have made arrangements for her return to India within two days, as confirmed by BLN Rajakumari, Nodal Officer and DRO of Konaseema Centre for Migration.

Pak national on long-term visa held for cheating on wife
1 2 Hyderabad: A 33-year-old Pakistani national, on a long-term visa in Hyderabad, was arrested by Banjara Hills police on Friday for allegedly cheating on his wife. According to cops, the complainant caught him red-handed with another woman in the latter's flat at Banjara Hills. Clerks, helpers, SPOs & gunmen in MCG's new surveillance team to check illegal waste dumping
Gurgaon: MCG commissioner Pradeep Dahiya on Friday deployed four member teams of gunmen, clerks, helpers and special police officers (SPOs) for surveillance of the illegal dumping of construction and demolition (C&D) waste and solid waste across the city. These teams will work in three shifts – the first from 8am to 4pm, second from 4pm to 12am, and third from 12am to 8am. "They will ensure that nobody dumps C&D waste and garbage illegally in the city," an order issued by MCG commissioner read, adding that teams should send geo-tagged photos, videos of vehicles unloading the waste and photos of those vehicles on WhatsApp groups formed for the same. "They are to ensure coordination with police and also make sure that the vehicles seized are impounded with police and further legal action is taken," read the order. Dahiya told TOI, "We have deployed teams of gunmen, who are ex-servicemen, along with helpers and SPOs. Our teams often face threats while monitoring dumping activities at night, so this measure is both preventive and for their safety. The aim is to ensure uninterrupted monitoring and to put a stop to illegal dumping. With this kind of surveillance, we expect to see noticeable improvements within a week ." The campaign is currently focused on areas such as Gurgaon–Faridabad Road, Sector 29, Southern Peripheral Road (SPR), and the Auto Market. Civic teams have been instructed to ensure that all construction debris is cleared promptly and disposed of as per guidelines. Officials said strict action will be taken against violators, including the seizure of vehicles, imposition of fines, and filing of FIRs. MHA warns states of foreigners obtaining Indian identity & docus
Thiruvananthapuram: A ministry of home affairs (MHA) communication to the states, including Kerala and Union Territories (accessed by TOI), has warned that foreigners are fraudulently obtaining Indian identity and beneficiary documents — from voter ID and Aadhaar to passports and ration cards — to claim benefits meant exclusively for citizens. It also flags that these forged documents have been used to tap into govt welfare schemes, diverting resources from their intended beneficiaries. On the basis of this MHA alarm, the state convened a high-level meeting of stakeholders to initiate the measures outlined in the directive. The note cites the Citizenship Act, 1955, which defines an "illegal migrant" as a foreigner who enters India without a valid passport or other travel documents, or one who enters with valid papers but stays beyond the permitted period. Against this legal backdrop, the MHA called for an intensified nationwide drive to identify such individuals, capture their biometrics and demographic particulars, and deport them "without any delay. " The MHA ordered that the district police module (DPM) and foreigners identification portal (FIP) be mandatorily used to record fingerprints, photographs and personal details of all detected illegal migrants — whether they are overstaying foreigners or those who entered without documents. The DPM, rolled out in 2023, allows district police to instantly access visa records, immigration data, arrival and departure details, and stay information along with the capability to capture biometrics on the spot. The FIP, initially created in 2018 for Rohingya and Bangladeshi nationals, was upgraded in 2023 to cover all illegal migrants and now serves as a central repository accessible to police, immigration officials, border guarding forces and the ministry of external affairs. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now To close loopholes, the MHA has directed states to install live fingerprint scanners, computers and web cameras at police stations in identified hotspots, holding centres and border outposts, replacing earlier reliance on the national automated fingerprint identification system. "For capturing biometrics of such detected illegal migrants, live scanners on FIP portal may be used," the document said. These records will be fed into a central server shared with agencies like UIDAI, passport offices, election commissions and ration card authorities to prevent fraudulent claims. The directive makes cross-verification mandatory before issuing any Indian document or extending social benefits, and also orders a review of past beneficiaries. If a match is found in the illegal migrants' database, the document or benefit is to be "de-activated/cancelled forthwith" and details shared with other agencies for similar action. States have been told to appoint a nodal police officer of at least DSP rank in every district for FIP operations and to ensure that all relevant personnel are trained within three months. The Bureau of Immigration will oversee the system nationally, integrate it with other govt databases and ensure smooth migration of data between platforms.
