DANAT Ensures Integrity of Pearls in HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad's Pearl Diving Race

The Bahrain Institute of Pearls and Gemstones (DANAT) participated in the competition of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa's pearl diving race (Hare), held as part of the eighth edition of the Nasser bin Hamad Marine Heritage Season. DANAT took part in its capacity as the specialised body responsible for examining the pearls extracted during the competition. As part of its role, the Institute examined the pearls obtained by divers after the oysters were shucked, whenever requested by the jury or in cases where questions arose regarding the authenticity of the pearls. This process was essential to guarantee the integrity of the competition and the quality of the pearls extracted. DANAT carried out this task by employing the latest scientific methods, advanced technology, and specialised equipment, alongside its extensive expertise in the field of pearl testing and evaluation, reinforcing its reputation as a leading regional centre in this domain. Mrs. Noora Jamsheer, CEO of DANAT, emphasised that participation in this competition represents an extension of DANAT's mission to safeguard Bahrain's rich and ancient heritage in natural pearls, and ensuring the authenticity of pearls extracted from Bahraini waters. This role falls within the framework of the Institute's mandate as a specialised scientific and research body dedicated to preserving the legacy of the pearl sector, which remains an integral component of Bahrain's national identity, with DANAT supported by state-of-the-art international technologies and facilities that enable it to deliver this mission according to the highest standards. Mrs. Jamsheer stated, 'DANAT is honoured to play an integral role in His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa's pearl diving race, an initiative that reflects our support for national efforts aligned with the National Plan for the Revitalisation of the Pearl Sector. Through this participation, we reaffirm our dedication to empowering youth to contribute to the development of the pearl industry and to embrace the traditions that shaped Bahrain's cultural and economic heritage.'
