Illicit history behind 'secret' and often hidden beach and why there's tracks to it
This week Richard Workman, whose family own the campsite, used a Facebook Live to give an insight into the history of this beach, which is surrounded by rocks except for two tracks to the sands.
These were actually part of the smuggling heritage of the site.
Richard explained: "Ships came across from the Atlantic and places like the Mediterranean, they would bring the ships up through between here and go to Porthmadog to pick up the slates because the roofing slate was Welsh slate, the best quality in the world. "So the roofing slate was made in obviously the quarries up by Blaenau Ffestiniog. So shipped down on the Ffestiniog Railway and obviously picked up over there.
"But on the way they didn't have any slate to go that way. So what they did, they used to load up with goods and stuff. But what they used to do years ago, before we had HMRC all digitalised and keeping an eye on things as they do now, they used to beach the boats here on this middle beach.
"And when the tide went out, you can just make out the tracks through there. There's one track there and there's another one on the other side of the beach.
"And they used to come down through here with the horse and cart, unload half the stuff, not that our family did this obviously for legal reasons. They would unload some of the stuff and the ship would then float, you're talking these three master schooners and stuff.
"They would then go to Porthmadog then and declare customs, obviously minus a few things because the old horse and cart came here. And by the house, there's a tunnel that they used to store it at.
"Obviously, nowadays, you can't do that, it's all digitalised and this, that and the other. But back then the way the beach is formed, it's an ideal place to put a boat, and get the horse and carts on."

His former colleagues at Ferris Holidays, where he had worked for two decades, have now paid tribute to the dad and husband. A spokesman for Ferris Holidays said: "It is with great sadness that we write. A former employee of ours of who joined us in 1998 and completed some 20+ years, Mr Keith Beverstock, has sadly passed away. "Keith was always polite, gentlemanlike, very well presented and the consummate professional. "He travelled all over Europe transporting thousands of our customers. Many of you that travelled to Spain a few years back, may remember his small frame but large character, a great driver! "Thank you for your service, not just to Ferris Holidays but to the industry as a whole. Article continues below "Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. "R.I.P. Beaver." Keith's daughter Naomi responded thanking Ferris Holidays for their tribute and described her father Keith as an "incredible man." Naomi said: "Thank you so much for this incredible tribute to the most incredible man who I had the pleasure of calling my dad. "A huge loss to us as a family, but a bigger loss to the coaching industry, tacho on rest now dad." Others also paid tribute to Keith, with one saying: "Keith and I took a school group from Litchfield to Germany on a brass band tour back in the day. "Such sad news to hear of his passing. Keith was a genuine nice guy who would always have the time of day for everyone. "You will be sadly missed, my friend, by all who knew you." Severe rush hour delays in London with train and Tube lines suspended
Commuters heading into London this morning are facing delays after Southern Rail services were suspended 'until further notice'. The suspension affects trains running between East Croydon and Clapham Junction into Watford Junction. It's also impacting London Overground trains between Stratford and Willesden Junction into Clapham Junction. Passengers are facing half-hour delays on top of their normal journey time as they're asked to use an alternative route. The problem has been caused by a fault with the signalling system, and National Rail warn trains running between the above stations could be cancelled or revised. Describing the incident, National Rail said: 'This part of the network uses track circuits to detect trains. If a circuit fails, the system may think a train is still there, blocking others from moving forward. 'Drivers must stop at red signals and get verbal permission to proceed at a reduced speed, which can cause significant delays, especially in areas with long track sections. More Trending 'In this case, Southern are unable to run services through the area in order to allow Network Rail teams access to the route to rectify the issue.' Unfortunately the problems don't end there, with several London Underground lines also facing delays. The Circle line is fully suspended, and the Hammersmith & City and Mildmay lines are part suspended this morning. The £3m UK island that could host ‘the most unbelievable raves'
Thorne Island, a historic fortress off the Welsh coast, has been transformed from a derelict site into a private party island, now listed for sale at £3 million. Originally a 19th-century Napoleonic fort, the island was converted into a hotel in 1947 before lying empty and overgrown for 17 years until its purchase in 2017. Former software CEO Mike Conner bought the island for £555,000 and spent five years and significant investment on renovations, overcoming challenges like a lack of utilities and difficult terrain. The 2.5-acre island now boasts over 8,000 square feet of accommodation, including a helipad, a nightclub, five bedrooms, and is fully off-grid with renewable energy systems. Mr Conner envisions the island as a potential tourist attraction or a venue for large-scale events and "unbelievable raves," capable of hosting up to 800 people without disturbing neighbours.
