Jillian Michaels reveals simple workout to extend your lifespan 'up to 7 years'
"Fitness is the No. 1 form of preventative medicine," the Miami-based host of "Keeping It Real Podcast" told Fox News Digital during an on-camera interview. (See the video at the top of this article.)
Michaels said she supports efforts to improve nutrition, highlighting HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.'s push to reform FDA regulations on food additives. She stressed that exercise, however, is ultimately up to the individual.
"This is not new news, and this is really where we have to encourage people to take agency … when it comes to exercise, this is really where we need to pick ourselves up by the bootstraps and start moving, even if it's just having a daily step goal," Michaels said.
More than 100 million adults are living with obesity and more than 22 million have severe obesity, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
Between August 2021 and August 2023, 40.3% of US adults above the age of 20 were considered obese.

As a former celebrity trainer, Michaels advises people to do more than the "bare minimum" — and walking can be the best way to start getting in shape.
"One hundred and fifty minutes of walking a week has been shown to extend your lifespan by up to seven years. Something simple like that goes such a long way," she said.
"I worry about false messages of lethargy. In other words, 'just do the bare minimum' – I don't love that messaging because it implies that's all somebody can do. That's simply not true," she went on.
"Don't be intimidated, don't be overwhelmed. I know you're worried about cost. I know you're worried about time. I know you're worried that you're not fit enough to do some of these things that you're hearing from people like myself."
Starting with a simple goal of 5,000 steps a day and using a walking pad is a great way to begin, according to the expert.
"[Walking pads] are a couple of hundred bucks," she said. "Put them under a stand-up desk or right by a kitchen counter, and you can shuffle around working, and you will hit those 5,000 steps no problem, every single day."
Michaels said her morning routine looks a bit different each day, but she tries to stay consistent with a few things.
"I do give it a few hours before actually eating something. I try to hydrate, and then I see what my day looks like, and I fit in exercise wherever, quite honestly, that I can."

The parasite infests warm-blooded animals and in rare cases humans, causing tissue damage and occasionally death. Though eradicated in both North and Central America a decades ago, the screwworm has progressed north since 2022 and is nearing the U.S. southern border. The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services said it issued a declaration on Tuesday allowing the FDA to issue emergency use authorizations for animal drugs to prevent infestations. "Today, we are taking decisive action to safeguard the nation's food supply from this emerging threat," HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said in a statement. "This authorization equips FDA to act quickly, limit the spread of New World Screwworm and protect America's livestock." Endemic to Cuba, Haiti, Dominican Republic and the countries of South America, the New World Screwworm strikingly resembles a fly, but when in its larval stage it burrows into the flies of a living animals, such as livestock, the U.S. Department of Agriculture said. The United States has worked with Panama for decades to prevent the parasite's northward expansion, according to the USDA, which resulted in the eradication of the insect from the United States in 1966. There are no FDA-approved drugs for NWS, but through an Emergency Use Authorization, the FDA can permit the use of certain animal drug products that have been approved for other purposes or are available in other countries. "This emergency use authorization is another tool we can use in the fight against New World Screwworm," Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said. "Our cattle ranchers and livestock producers are relying on the Trump administration to defend their livelihoods. Stopping this pest is a national security priority and we are linking arms across President [Donald] Trump's Cabinet to defend our borders and push back this threat."

The Walmart Frozen Shrimp Subject To Recall Due To Potential Radioactive Risks
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has protocols in place to detect contaminated foods before they enter the country. And, as of today, it has advised the public not to eat specific Great Value brand frozen raw shrimp sold in Walmart stores due to a possible radioactive risk. During regular inspections, the U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) detected Cesium-137 (Cs-137) in a single sample of breaded shrimp, and all related containers and products were prevented from entering the United States. Cs-137 is a manmade radioisotope of cesium that's so widespread that it can be found in the air, soil, and food. After the FDA was alerted to the presence of this chemical, its own testing found about 68.48 Bq/kg — much lower than the 1200 Bq/kg threshold — in the breaded product (per the FDA advisory). Although the chemical wasn't found in other products tested, the agency says some could still be contaminated, representing a potential health concern but not an acute hazard. Since the investigation is ongoing, it's unclear if this frozen shrimp will become one of the worst seafood recalls that swept across America or even be among the biggest Walmart Great Value brand recalls in history. The 2-pound bags of Great Value Raw Ez Peel Tail-On Farm-Raised White Vannamei Shrimp that the FDA is concerned about are processed by PT. Bahari Makmur Sejati, an Indonesian company that does business as BMS Foods. The lot codes are 8005540-1, 8005538-1, and 8005539-1 — all with a Best by Date of March 15, 2027. Exposure to possible low-level radiation from Cs-137 in these products could impact consumers' health with prolonged exposure. Because of that, the FDA suggests that customers who have purchased any of these packages throw them away; do not eat or serve them. It also advises that customers contact their healthcare teams if they have already eaten these products and experience adverse symptoms.
