£1 bus pass, staying says Cambridgeshire and Peterborough mayor
The new mayor for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough says he plans to keep the Tiger bus pass.The pass - used on over one million journeys - allows children and young people under the age of 25 to travel for £1 per journey.Paul Bristow, who won the area's mayoral election for the Conservatives, made the promise in an interview with the BBC's Politics East programme. He also said he would proceed with the bus franchising agreement signed by the previous mayor, Labour's Nik Johnson.
But he said he would not increase the council tax precept, which currently subsidises some bus services and fares.
The Tiger pass was one of the previous mayor's 'proudest achievements'.Over 40,000 people have applied for one.Bristow says he also plans to "make bus franchising work" after the paperwork was signed in February. Franchising will see bus services in the area brought under the control of the combined authority. They will control routes and fares, with bus operators invited to run the services.However buses are not his only plans for transport in Cambridgeshire. He also says duelling roads like the A10 and the A47 is among his top priorities. He also wants to explore options for light rail. "Cambridge is already congested," he said. "I think it is a solution that will get Cambridge and Peterborough moving."Bristow has previously said he thinks a light rail service between Cambourne and Cambridge could be up and running before East-West rail.

He's stopped moving.' Thankfully, Mark Snr soon regained consciousness and as if nothing had happened at all he triumphantly threw his fist into the air as he was hoisted back up onto the platform. Still not having twigged that his father had lost consciousness, Josh said: 'You weren't answering us, were you shouting back when we asked if you were ok?' Mark Snr then cleared up the matter by explaining: 'I think I blacked out. 'All I can remember is that I went into a swing and that was that. 'Every thing else was a blur!' while Mark Jnr responded: 'You frightened the life out of me not shouting back.' Despite the scenes going viral, the Wright family won't be returning for a second season of their travel show. A TV insider told The Sun that the series was 'always going to be a suck-it-and-see job' however it 'wasn't meant to be'. 'If it went down well with audiences and got healthy viewing figures, the BBC would have been tempted to maybe explore another series,' the insider revealed. 'The Wrights would have been up for it, but it wasn't to be.' The source added though that a consolation for the Essex family is that the BBC is 'still keen to work with them' so another show could be on the cards. A BBC Spokesperson said: 'A Wright Family Holiday was commissioned as a one off and has not been axed.'

Plane makes emergency landing during Leeds to Bradford flight
A passenger plan travelling from Leeds Bradford Airport had to make an emergency landing shortly after take-off. The Aer Lingus flight departed the West Yorkshire airport at 12:40 BST and was heading to Belfast City Airport when the incident injuries have been confirmed and no reason for the emergency landing have been given at this stage.A spokesperson for Leeds Bradford Airport said the incident had been dealt with "in line with our emergency procedures" and staff were working to make sure passengers were able to continue their journey "as soon as possible".
