Jets 2025 NFL schedule takeaways: Easiest and toughest games
The full 2025 NFL schedule was released Wednesday. Here is how the Jets schedule shapes up:
Three Toughest Games
Week 8 at Bengals: This should be a good test for the defense of Aaron Glenn and Steve Wilks. Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins will stress defensive coaches out. The Bengals defense is not as strong, and maybe the Jets offense will be hitting its stride in late October.

Week 12 at Ravens: Lamar Jackson and the Ravens are going to be among the favorites to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl. This game comes in late November, when we should have a good idea of who the Jets are. Will they surprise people and be playing for something or already looking ahead to the 2026 draft?
Week 18 at Bills: Who wants to go to Buffalo in January? It will be cold and miserable and the Jets may be dreaming of vacation. This is also going to be the final regular-season game in Buffalo's stadium. So, expect a parade of Bills greats to come out before the game and the crowd to be … well hydrated.

49ers defensive coordinator shares admiration for his quarterback
49ers defensive coordinator shares admiration for his quarterback Through the first three years of his NFL career, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy has been really solid, leading the team to a 23-13 record in his 36 starts and completing 67.5% of his passes for 9,518 yards, 64 touchdowns and 27 interceptions. Considering San Francisco took Purdy with the final pick in the 2022 NFL draft out of Iowa State, what he's accomplished to this point has been remarkable. That's why the 49ers decided to address the situation early and give their quarterback a massive five-year, $265 million extension earlier this offseason. While Purdy is now set for life financially, this new contract has brought out even more doubters than the Cyclone product has dealt with during his time in the league. However, Purdy does have plenty of supporters, including defensive coordinator Robert Saleh, who is returning to San Francisco's sidelines after serving as the head coach of the New York Jets from 2021-24. "I think highly of him. I really do. He is really good," Saleh told reporters earlier this week. "You get jaded sometimes, I think, when you're looking at certain players for a certain amount of time. As a new face coming in and seeing Brock, [he's] pretty damn good. I can see where you get so used to seeing it, it becomes the standard, and you're always trying to elevate it, but not every head coach or not every organization is able to look at their quarterback and compare them to Brock. Brock is a damn good quarterback. I try not to poorly on other quarterbacks around the league, but he's one of the better ones." In three seasons, Purdy has led the 49ers to the postseason twice, which is two more times than any quarterback has done for the Jets since 2010. Bringing a team to multiple NFC championship games and a Super Bowl while still on your rookie deal is an impressive feat, even if Purdy has had talented players around him. It has to be great for 25-year-old to hear this praise from a coach who's been outside the building and has watched him from afar and will now get a chance to test him in practice. Rams sign veteran offensive tackle D.J. Humphries to a 1-year deal
Associated Press LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Rams signed veteran offensive tackle D.J. Humphries to a one-year deal on Friday. Humphries, a longtime starter for the NFC West rival Arizona Cardinals, will provide depth and insurance on the Rams' offensive line behind starting left tackle Alaric Jackson. Jackson agreed to a three-year, $57 million free agent deal to return to Los Angeles this spring, but the NFL Network reported this week that Jackson is dealing with a reoccurrence of the blood clots that ended his 2022 season. Humphries spent his first eight NFL seasons with the Cardinals, who drafted him in the first round in 2016. He started 98 games, mostly at left tackle, and was selected for the Pro Bowl in 2021. Humphries was out of the NFL last season while recovering from a torn knee ligament from 2023. He also missed much of the 2022 season with a back injury. He signed with the Kansas City Chiefs last November, but injured his hamstring shortly afterward. He played only occasionally down the stretch into the postseason for the AFC champions, and he didn't play in the Super Bowl. Humphries' agents announced on social media in late April that he had signed with the San Francisco 49ers, but that deal was never completed. ___ AP NFL: recommended

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Jim Irsay, the late owner and CEO of the Indianapolis Colts, will be inducted into the Indianapolis Colts Ring of Honor at Lucas Oil Stadium during the September 7 home opener vs. the Miami Dolphins. Irsay passed away on May 21 and was laid to rest on June 2. The Colts made the announcement June 13 on what would have been Irsay's 66th birthday. Colts' deep threat Alec Pierce looking to expand his game Officials say Jim Irsay will become the 20th honoree, joining: Owner Robert Irsay WR-Bill Brooks Head Coach Ted Marchibroda G/T-Chris Hinton QB-Jim Harbaugh 'Colts Nation' Head Coach Tony Dungy WR-Marvin Harrison RB-Edgerrin James RB-Eric Dickerson RB-Marshall Faulk C-Jeff Saturday General Manager Bill Polian QB-Peyton Manning WR-Reggie Wayne DE-Dwight Freeney DE-Robert Mathis T/G-Tarik Glenn TE-Dallas Clark 'There was no bigger advocate for the Colts, the NFL, the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana than our dad, Jim Irsay,' said Colts Owner and CEO Carlie Irsay-Gordon. 'It's only fitting that he now joins the other amazing Colts legends in our Ring of Honor who contributed so much to our franchise and our community over the past four decades.' Jim was born and raised in the Chicago area, but some of his memories came from his youth working Colts training camps in Baltimore, Maryland, after his father, a Chicago businessman, acquired the Baltimore Colts in 1972. There, Jim started his 54-year affiliation with the Colts and began 'cultivating a lifetime of relationships' with players, coaches and staff. The Pacers are in the NBA Finals. The Fever have Caitlin Clark. In Indy, basketball is booming After graduating in 1982 from Southern Methodist University, where he played football and earned a degree in broadcast journalism, Jim joined the franchise and worked in virtually every department before being named the youngest general manager in NFL history when the Colts arrived in Indianapolis in 1984. In 1987, he helped lead the team to its first division title and playoff appearance during the Indianapolis era. After he assumed sole ownership of the club in 1997, Jim oversaw a 'historic, record-breaking' period of success on the field. The Colts say, overall, Jim, as owner, led them to 10 division titles, two AFC Championships and the club's fourth world championship. From 2007 to 2012, the Colts played in two Super Bowls (XLI, XLIV) and hosted a Super Bowl in a span of just six years. Officials say a pillar of his lasting legacy is the powerful influence Kicking The Stigma has had, is having and will have on improving mental health awareness, research and treatment in Indiana and across the United States.
