Tipi stolen from site along Trans Canada Highway
An investigation is underway after a tipi was stolen Wednesday night off the Trans Canada Highway.
Bearspaw First Nation posted the news on its Facebook page Thursday.
'Unfortunately between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. yesterday August 13 some person(s) removed and took one of our four Tipi Canvasses along the Trans Canada just west of Calaway Park,' they wrote.

'The Bearspaw First Nation is asking for the return of the canvas. Any tips on who took it can be made to Cochrane RCMP 403-932-2211, or contact Stoney Tribal Security Services at 403-881-2666.

Person in stable condition after being rescued from Red River in Winnipeg Thursday
A person was rescued from the Red River on Thursday evening near the Redwood Bridge. The Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service responded to reports of a person on the water at around 10:15 p.m. It is unclear how the person came to be in the river or for how long they were there, the city said in a news release Friday morning. Crews found the person and using boats brought them to the shore. The person was assessed and treated by paramedics who transported them to hospital in stable condition. RCMP release photo of white car that could have a connection with P.E.I. shooting
Social Sharing RCMP have released a photo of a car they say "may be connected" to an incident in western P.E.I. that killed a man and injured a Summerside woman who later died in hospital. "The vehicle is a white 2007 Honda Accord, 4-door sedan, [and] could have had PEI licence plate 202NX," the police force said in a news release late Wednesday. The news release did not say whether the car is believed to be connected to the perpetrator or to a possible witness. RCMP are once more issuing an appeal for anyone with information about what happened around 8 p.m. Friday on Hackmatack Road in Urbainville, near Wellington, to come forward to talk to investigators. They have said a targeted shooting into a car on a dirt section of the road killed a 35-year-old man who was believed to be driving a 2008 Toyota Corolla, and led the car to roll over and hit a utility pole. The female passenger, 50, was seriously injured in the crash and later died. Police have said they believe another vehicle was on Hackmatack Road at the time, and a perpetrator fled the scene. No arrests have been made. "These incidents are uncommon in our province, and they are certainly unsettling. We take this very seriously and extensive police resources have been deployed to this investigation," Cpl. Gavin Moore, the media relations officer for the P.E.I. RCMP, said at a media briefing Monday. "Police do have many leads to investigate." RCMP have not identified either of the dead people. Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact Prince District RCMP at 902-853-9300 or 902-436-9300. People who want to stay anonymous are asked to call P.E.I. RCMP widen search in P.E.I. car-shooting incident with underwater recovery team

RCMP say their Underwater Recovery Team has been added to the investigation into an incident in western P.E.I. last week that killed a man and injured a Summerside woman, who later died in hospital. "We're using police dog services, drones and officers with boots on the ground to search the land areas, and now we are adding the ability to search lakes, ponds, streams and into the ocean if needed to find evidence that may contribute to this investigation," Peters was quoted as saying in the release.
