Alonzo Menifield toughed out a victory Saturday at UFC Fight Night 252, but paid the price.
Following Saturday's event in Seattle, promotion CEO Dana White revealed a picture of Menifield's left foot, that suffered a severe laceration between the pinky and ring toes. The bloody picture is not for the faint of heart.

Menifield, 37, defeated Julius Walker by split decision in a bout that was later named Fight of the Night and earned him an additional $50,000. The win snapped a two-fight skid for Menifield, who returned to Fortis MMA in preparation of the bout.

UFC 316: Vicente Luque eager to prove he's still war-ready against Kevin Holland
UFC 316: Vicente Luque eager to prove he's still war-ready against Kevin Holland Show Caption Hide Caption UFC 316: Vicente Luque media day interview UFC 316 fighter Vicente Luque spoke to MMA Junkie and reporters at media day for his main card bout vs. Kevin Holland on Saturday. MORRISTOWN, N.J. – If you think Vicente Luque is no longer capable of taking damage in fights, think again. At UFC 316 on Saturday, Luque (23-10-1 MMA, 16-6 UFC) steps into the cage for the first time in 2025 to face Kevin Holland. The welterweight bout opens up the UFC 316 (ESPN+ pay-per-view) main card at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Holland (27-13 MMA, 14-10 UFC) believes that Luque's days as a hard-nosed fighter capable of walking through punishment are over. In 2022, Luque suffered a knockout loss to Geoff Neal, which led to the discovery of a brain hemorrhage while in the hospital. It was a serious concern, one that Luque took every precaution to ensure he could continue his career. A year later, Luque returned to the cage, defeating former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. He was then submitted by Joaquin Buckley last March, but got back on track with a first-round, bonus-winning submission of Themba Gorimbo in December. Luque is welcome to challenge the idea that he can't take damage any longer. "Keep an eye open on Saturday, you guys will see if I'm ready or not for war," Luque told reporters at UFC 316 media day. "I'm excited. It's a big fight and a challenging opponent. I like it. He's gonna take out the best out of me for sure." Luque is on the verge of cementing his legacy in the record books. The UFC welterweight leader for total finishes is 14, a record held by Matt Brown. Luque currently sits in second place and will have the opportunity to tie that record Saturday. With a submission finish, he would break out of a three-way second-place tie to be at the same number as Gunnar Nelson at seven. It's something Luque doesn't necessarily chase when the cage door closes, but he admits it would be nice to have his name atop everyone else in the division's history. "That would be awesome," Luque said. "I'm definitely chasing that record. ... I don't chase the finishes, but they just happen. That's my style. That's what I do. I go in there and I fight with all I have, and usually, that's gonna end up in a finish, because I find a submission or a knockout shot. It's gonna come eventually, and if I can get that record, that would be amazing." Holland has had a busy year so far. In January, he was submitted by Reinier de Ridder and then won a unanimous decision over Gunnar Nelson in March. Always one to express himself vocally, Holland, affectionately nicknamed "Big Mouth" by UFC CEO Dana White, is known for talking before, during, and after his fights. Luque knows he won't have any verbal replies to offer, but welcomes whatever comes from his opponent inside the cage. "No, I definitely don't have trash talk, but I have two fists that hit really hard, and that's enough for me," Luque said. "I can talk with my hands. I think it's just fun, you know? I don't think that Holland is really that kind of guy that trash talks as disrespecting you. I think he's more about having fun in there. He's just doing his thing and whatever he does, I'm still going to respond in my way. I'm out there to have a great fight and to beat him. At the end of the day, I want to knock him out and get a big win."

Mario Bautista unfazed by Jose Aldo bout criticism, but guarantees UFC 316 will be different
Mario Bautista unfazed by Jose Aldo bout criticism, but guarantees UFC 316 will be different Show Caption Hide Caption UFC 316: Mario Bautista media day interview UFC 316 fighter Mario Bautista spoke to MMA Junkie and reporters at media day for his main card bout vs. Patchy Mix. MORRISTOWN, N.J. – Mario Bautista is going to keep doing him. The blowback from his fight vs. Jose Aldo was heard loud and clear, but Bautista (15-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) remains unfazed. He's in it to win it, which is what he did in October – and what he plans to do again Saturday at UFC 316 vs. Patchy Mix. "No, I'm not looking to go out there and change anything and make those fans happy," Bautista told MMA Junkie and other reporters at a pre-fight news conference Wednesday. "At the end of the day, it doesn't really even matter. I'm on a seven-fight winning streak. I'd understand if all seven of those fights were the same way. I would understand, but each fight is different. I can guarantee this fight will be a lot different." Bautista's fight is featured predominantly on the main card at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J. Initially scheduled to fight Marlon Vera, Bautista will attempt to play spoiler to the highly-anticipated UFC debut of the former Bellator bantamweight champion Mix (20-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC). He's embracing the moment. "This whole week and the things he's been saying have just been making me laugh," Bautista said. "He just kind of seems like an angry guy for some reason. He's talking about submitting me and then submitting my 60-year-old coach. I highly doubt he could run through my whole crew. There are some people in the gym who would make him look like a purple belt, so I think he's a little wrong there. Like you said, he's saying what he had to say to sell himself. Yeah, I think it's kind of funny." While he has faith in his teammates' abilities, Bautista is not discrediting the hype around Mix. Like many others, Bautista sang Mix's praises. "I think he's really good," Bautista said. "I've heard gym stories of him beating certain people who do really well in this division. There are younger guys coming up right now who are way better than some of us who are in the top 10. So for him to say he would go through my whole crew, I think he'd be a little bit embarrassed at my gym."

Kayla Harrison's manager sets two-division title plan for Amanda Nunes with UFC 316 win
Kayla Harrison's manager sets two-division title plan for Amanda Nunes with UFC 316 win Show Caption Hide Caption Manager Ali Abdelaziz previews UFC 316, gives mass client update Dominance MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz talks to MMA Junkie's Mike Bohn about Islam Makhachev, Movsar Evloev, Magomed Ankalaev and UFC 316 clients Kayla Harrison, Patchy Mix and more. MORRISTOWN, N.J. – If Kayla Harrison can capture the women's bantamweight title at UFC 316, then it appears her reward will be a fight with the greatest female athlete in MMA history, Amanda Nunes. When promotion began for Harrison (18-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) to challenge Julianna Peña (11-5 MMA, 8-3 UFC) for gold on Saturday at Prudential Center in Newark (ESPN+ pay-per-view), former two-division titleholder Nunes, who retired in June 2023, showed up in the front row for the first press conference between the two. Shortly thereafter, it became clear why Nunes was there. She said she intended to challenge the winner of Peña vs. Harrison in a comeback fight, which she is already apparently training for. According to Harrison's longtime manager Ali Abdelaziz of Dominance MMA, the plan doesn't stop by simply luring Nunes back for one fight. He said he wants his client Harrison beat Nunes at women's bantamweight and women's featherweight in order to leave no doubt about who is superior. "This is what I want her to do, this is the road map: I want Kayla to win the title on Saturday and Amanda Nunes will come back," Abdelaziz told MMA Junkie on Wednesday. "We will fight for this 145 title. Kayla will beat her at 145. Amanda will cut down to 135. Kayla will beat her at 135, then Kayla will have two UFC championships. This is what I want to do. "Of course we have to talk to UFC and of course Julianna Peña, she is tough as nails. She is not easy. She is not a walk over. She is going to stick around, she is going to take a lot of punishment and is going to be tough. But is what I would love for Kayla to do and after that I would like Kayla to go to WWE and she's going to get a WWE title, too. Why not?" Despite all the bold ambitions for the future, Abdelaziz said he's more than aware that Harrison must first handle her business against Peña at UFC 316. Both women expressed the utmost confidence in their ability to win during media day to kick off fight week, but naturally Abdelaziz has faith in his client to emerge with gold, and do it in lopsided fashion. "There's something different about her this week," Abdelaziz said. "She has more energy. Since I met Kayla she didn't change. She's the same person. She just gets grumpy on fight week, and this fight week she's been awesome. She has a great energy. She's lifting everyone up. There's no negativity and she's going to go in there and – I respect Julianna Peña. She's tough as nails. She's a world champion. You have to put respect on her name. But I think Kayla is going to make a bloodbath. I think it's going to be a bloodbath. Kayla has every intention to make her pay for everything Julianna said. It's a great build up and I think they are almost taking over the main event."
