Police have launched an investigation after an officer fired their gun at a suspected stolen car on NSW's Mid North Coast on Saturday.
Officers attempted to stop a Toyota Landcruiser, which was believed to be stolen, in West Kempsey at about 3am.

NSW Police said that as the car drove at the officers, a senior constable fired his weapon at the car before it drove away.
No officers were harmed during the incident.
The car was found burnt out on Gordon Nixon Avenue, West Kempsey.
Police are investigating the incident and have yet to identify the driver.

A manhunt is under way after an alleged shooting at a pub in Sydney's inner west, leaving one man dead and another fighting for life. Emergency services were rushed to The Harold at Forest Lodge about 6.40pm Sunday after reports of gunfire. NSW Police allege two men were shot 'multiple times' by unknown people before they fled the scene in a car. NSW paramedics treated one man at the scene, who was transported to the Royal Prince Alfred hospital in a serious condition, a spokesman told NewsWire. One man was treated at the scene by paramedics but died, police confirmed in a statement. Witnesses told The Daily Telegraph staff locked the entrance to the pub as patrons sheltered under tables. The pub has since been evacuated by police, and paramedics remain on the scene. A crime scene has been established, with detectives and the homicide squad commencing an investigation.

Two teenage boys are among the people arrested after a man was stabbed in the head and face during an alleged home invasion in Melbourne's eastern suburbs. Two young children were inside the Kew East home at the time. Police allege five unknown people smashed a large window of the house on Oxford St at about 4am on Sunday. A husband and wife inside the house were woken by the sounds of smashing glass, and soon confronted by the alleged intruders. Three people, including a teenage boy, have been arrested after an alleged violent home invasion. The wife was taken to a room where two children, aged two and three, were sleeping. 'The husband was then stabbed multiple times to the head, face and arms,' a police statement read. It is further alleged one offender returned to their car, while the other four got into the occupants' BMW. 'The stolen BMW was located dumped on Christie Street in Deer Park,' police said. The man was allegedly stabbed in the head, face and arms during the alleged invasion. Two boys, aged 16 and 17, and a 24-year-old Caroline Springs man are being interviewed. Police are still searching for others allegedly involved. The 39-year-old husband was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. His wife, 34, was treated for minor injuries. Two other adults who were at the home at the time, aged 69 and 70, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The two children and another adult did not suffer physical injuries.
