Funniest Home Videos star in new WA rom-com
Taylor is just one of the famous names rounding out the list of cameos in writer-director Rob Bouwman's debut feature, with former celebrity chef Aristos Papandroulakis also set to make an appearance.
At one point in the mid-90s, you would've been hard pressed to turn on a TV set and not see Taylor, because she was host of the top-rating Australia's Funniest Home Videos, co-host of Hey Hey It's Saturday and a occasional host of the kids cartoon show, What's Up Doc?.

The One Thing has Taylor playing a rich, mean-spirited housewife, who's jealous of her daughter, which is very much against type.
'At first, when I was reading the script, I thought, 'Hmm, this character, she's not very nice',' Taylor tells PerthNow.
'And so I said to Rob, 'This character is nasty, isn't she, and very sarcastic', but it is actually really fun to play the sort of role in which I'm not normally cast.'
Aristos wasn't pushed quite as far out of his comfort zone in the film, with the Surprise Chef cast as a food critic.
It's a small role, but crucial to the plot, which revolves around young chef Joey (Jonathan Weir) and the drama of a make-or-break restaurant review, while juggling a classic rom-com love triangle with two very different women.
Real-life chef Aristos says the old adage of keeping your friends close and your enemies even closer also applies to food critics.
'Every restaurant keeps (food critics) close,' Aristos tells PerthNow.

These days Aristos runs a seafood trading business, but says 'never say never' when it comes to reuniting with his castmates - 'me old mate, olive oil' and 'Harold Holt', rhyming slang for salt - for a new series of Surprise Chef.
For those who missed it, the show would feature the larger-than-life Aristos surprising punters in supermarkets, picking through the groceries in their trolley, before going back to their place to turn said groceries, no matter how weird, into a delicious meal.

But he did have some advice.
'There's so many things you can do with mince, and it's a reasonably priced,' he says.
'Go back to the old shepherd's pie days, you know; a good roast is still affordable. You just got to be a little bit smart about the way you do it.
'Make it stretch a little bit with a few more carbs. You know, all these people that get off the carbs... Eat plenty of potatoes, and you should be able to make it a bit easier on yourself.'

Taylor is regularly asked about bringing back Funniest Home Videos, but she says social media has put paid to that idea.
'I have to explain to them that there's Funniest Home Videos on every YouTube account in the world, so it just wouldn't work anymore and it's a shame,' she laments.
'Also, some of the things that we would play, I mean, no one ever got hurt, and we would always follow up and make sure that no one ever got hurt.
'But we'd get people ringing to say, 'Is that child OK after falling face-down off the slide', or whatever it might be, so I don't know if we would get away with some of that stuff now.'
The One Thing is expected to hit cinemas in time for Valentine's Day next year.

What struck me most about Alexander was the warmth that emanated from her the moment she stepped out onstage. As someone who beforehand knew only of Alexander's album track I Just Killed A Man – which is genuinely one of the most meticulously crafted break-up songs I've ever had the pleasure of hearing – I wasn't entirely convinced how easily she would be able to win me over with a relatively short set of 15 or so tracks. But any doubts immediately melted away from the moment she sung her first note. Sometimes you meet someone and are inexplicably drawn to them and their energy, and Alexander has that in spades. Picture Lachie Millard Her voice sounds like a blend of the pop rock sensibilities of Olivia Rodrigo paired with the warmth and smokiness of a 1920s jazz club singer, and some of the nuances in her delivery that she brought to songs depending on what genre they leaned into brought them to life so wonderfully. Communication was a clear standout for me, a gorgeous slice of glittering break-up pop that would feel at home on Taylor Swift's Midnight's record. Her cover of Djo's modern classic End of Beginning was so enrapturing that my partner turned to me and was convinced it was her own original song. The last handful of songs was banger after banger, kicking the set into a higher gear and with the small but loyal crowd in the palm of her hand singing back lyrics. Alexander would occasionally take a moment to have a giggle with the crowd and let her personality shine through, but there was one moment where she spoke earnestly of having children at a relatively young age that I really connected with, and it's those times when an artist really gives you an unedited glimpse into the lives that truly helps you form a better understanding and appreciation for their discography. It seems clear to me that with a team and a label behind her that believes in her talent, Alexander is one breakout hit away from becoming a powerhouse within the music industry Down Under, and I don't think it could happen to a more deserving woman. In the enduring classic, Miranda played the lead role of Josephine Alibrandi, a 17-year-old student trying to navigate her final year of high school. Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Miranda shared a sweet snap of her cosying up to her former co-star at a local bar. 'So we walk out and someone goes, 'Oh my God, that's Josie and Jacob,' and everyone started screaming and people were crying and I was like, 'What's happening?' and Kick goes, 'I think this is going to be really big.' And I went, 'So do I.' That was the moment that he and I were like, 'We've got to stick together!'' She added that she sees her former co-star like a member of her family, saying: 'We're very good friends – we did go through something together, and we're very brother and sister in our relationship, so that's nice.' Aussie summer music festival announces Perth return
An Australian festival that has attracted the likes of Tyler, The Creator, Rufus Du Sol and Lola Young is set to return to Perth next year. The team behind Wildlands announced the single-day event will bring 'the best in electronic, hip-hop and indie music' to Brisbane and Perth in January. The festival will come to Brisbane on New Year's Day before setting up at Arena Joondalup in Perth on January 3 for a 'stronger than ever' edition. Both Wildlands instalments will feature re-imagined stage designs and updated site layouts that are promised to 'redefine the experience across both cities'. This year will see the introduction of an all-new 'in the round' stage, giving punters a huge 360-degree experience, complete with a four-point sound system and raised dance floors, set to deliver an immersive experience from every angle. Attendees will also have the option to elevate their day with the Casamigos House Of Friends VIP Pass, offering express entry, access to exclusive viewing areas and bars, private VIP amenities, and additional comforts like WiFi, phone charging and FastPass lanes across the site. The line-up is yet to be confirmed but past event's have featured the likes of Tyler, The Creator, Rufus Du Sol, Peggy Gou, Central Cee, Fisher, Diplo, Bicep, A$AP Ferg, G Flip, Becky Hill, Chase and Status and Lola Young. The announcement comes after a social media video was released last week teasing the festival's spirit of running wild. Music lovers can sign up for presale access via the Wildlands website. For the first time, Wildlands will also introduce Ticket Request, giving fans the chance to skip the presale rush and secure their ticket at a guaranteed price, while allocation lasts.
