Chestnut Carbon Announces First Issuance of Credits from Forest Conservation Membership Program

Chestnut Carbon has issued and sold more than 64,000 tons of Improved Forest Management (IFM) carbon removal credits totaling $2.2 million to global financial services companies.
NEW YORK, Feb. 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Chestnut Carbon ('Chestnut'), a leading developer of nature-based carbon removal solutions, announced today that they have completed the first issuance and sale of Improved Forest Management (IFM) credits sourced from their conservation membership program branded as Forest Carbon Works.
The issuance of more than 64,000 credits, or tons of carbon removal, were sold to multiple corporate buyers, including JPMorganChase. These transactions totaled $2.2 million.
Chestnut's U.S.-based IFM membership program, Forest Carbon Works, provides an opportunity for private forest owners to access income-generating carbon markets while preserving the integrity and legacy of their land. The program includes landowners in 36 states with more than 150,000 acres enrolled as of February 2025.
These carbon removal credits are certified through Verra on the voluntary carbon market (VCM) and undergo rigorous third-party audits. Chestnut's conservative methodology underlies carbon removal credits which are highly additional and more durable than most IFM projects in the market today.
'We're extremely proud to bring this issuance of IFM carbon removal credits to market,' said Ben Dell, CEO of Chestnut Carbon and Managing Partner of Kimmeridge. 'The high quality and integrity of our product offering is reflected in the premium pricing we're receiving for our credits.'
Chestnut's carbon removal represents the highest quality IFM product available:
100% Carbon Removal: Unlike most IFM credits, which represent a blend of avoidance and removal measurement, Chestnut only sells credits measuring carbon removal. These represent emissions removed from the atmosphere and sequestered in new growth, aligning with what many sustainability-focused buyers are looking for today;
Highly Additional: Chestnut's conservation membership program protects at-risk forests across the U.S. and provides landowners with an alternative revenue stream for conservation instead of harvesting their timber; and
Longer Duration: Long-term conservation easements attached to member land deeds ensure carbon is stored for 60+ years. This extended timeframe surpasses most existing IFM programs available in the market (typically 40 years), providing buyers with a reliable and lasting impact on carbon removal.

Wave of Foreign Investment in US Gas Could Top $10B

Asian, Middle Eastern and European buyers want a piece of U.S. shale gas, and they want it now. Jeet Benipal, managing partner at Greenhill, a Mizuho affiliate, said there's at least five or six different shale gas deals on the market right now. 'If I were to add all of them together, we're probably looking at $10-plus billion,' Benipal said June 4 during Hart Energy's Energy Capital Conference. Greenhill previously advised TG Natural Resources on its $2.7 billion acquisition of East Texas gas producer Rockcliff Energy II in 2023. 'There's a lot of interest from several different Asian strategics and trading houses in U.S. natural gas upstream assets,' Benipal said. TG Natural Resources recently acquired a 70% interest in Chevron's Haynesville assets for $575 million. Outside of Asia, Middle Eastern buyers are gaining steam in U.S. shale gas. In April, Kimmeridge sold a 24.1% stake in its upstream shale gas and LNG operation to Mubadala Energy, a subsidiary of Abu Dhabi's sovereign wealth fund Mubadala Investment Co. U.K. petrochemical company INEOS has also invested in U.S. upstream, including offshore and in the Eagle Ford Shale, said Jack Collins, CEO of INEOS Energy, at the conference. Vecima Introduces Industry's First Compact Generic Access Platform (GAP) Node Designed for 4 GHz

VICTORIA, British Columbia--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Vecima Networks Inc. (VCM: TSX) today announced the launch of its Entra EN3400 Compact Generic Access Platform (GAP) Node, deployed as either a two-port, Remote PHY (R-PHY)-enabled cable access node supporting DOCSIS 4.0 or a two-port All-PON™ node. In October 2021, Vecima announced the Entra EN9000, the world's first commercially available GAP node, which is now in broad deployment with a Tier 1 Broadband Service Provider in North America. The EN3400 Compact GAP Node is a future-proof, 'Forever Node' with a 4.0 GHz-capable housing supporting the same DOCSIS 3.1 Remote PHY and 10G-EPON modules as the EN9000 today, while seamlessly evolving to XGS-PON, DOCSIS 4.0, NRoC (New Radio over Coax) and future HFC and PON solutions. Building on the interoperability of the EN9000, its open architecture allows operators to select the best solutions from a variety of vendors, driving down costs and ensuring network agility and scalability. Through future module upgrades for Unified DOCSIS 4.0, the EN3400 is targeting delivery of up to 20 Gbps downstream and 6 Gbps upstream as a Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) cable access node. In addition, the EN3400 offers flexible power options, including both standard AC power and 60/90V cable powering to support multi-dwelling unit, enterprise, and hospitality applications. This flexibility translates into significant long-term savings and operational efficiency by reducing the need for frequent hardware upgrades or replacements. 'The Entra EN3400 is the latest product from Vecima, building on the success of the original EN9000 GAP Node,' said Ryan Nicometo, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Video & Broadband Solutions. 'Designed for 4 GHz, the EN3400 is a high-performance, multi-application solution with a unique form factor suitable for MDU, hospitality, and enterprise deployments long into the future.'
