ManageEngine unveils AI-powered unified cybersecurity solutions at GISEC Global 2025

Tahawul Tech16-05-2025

The evolving cybersecurity landscape in the Middle East highlights trends such as state-sponsored cyberattacks, ransomware-as-a-service, and supply chain vulnerabilities.
In an exclusive interview with tahawultech, Sujoy Banerjee, Associate Director at ManageEngine, discussed key challenges, including the shortage of skilled professionals and fragmented security tools, emphasising ManageEngine's commitment to unified, AI-powered platforms that enhance threat detection, response, and compliance at GISEC Global 2025.
ManageEngine showcased its integrated solutions, including SIEM, PAM, and endpoint protection, designed to simplify security operations and empower organisations to secure their AI-driven future.
What are the key cybersecurity trends you're observing in the region, and how do these trends impact organisations as they strengthen their security posture?
While this is a part of a global trend, in this region, we're particularly observing a sharp rise in state-sponsored cyberattacks, as well as ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS). The sophisticated threats are evolving rapidly, making them harder to detect and defend against.
At the same time, there's a growing awareness around supply chain vulnerabilities, which are now seen as critical risk vectors that organisations can no longer afford to overlook. Additionally, the broader adoption of cloud infrastructure, especially local cloud solutions, is a positive development, but at the same time it introduces new complexities from a security perspective.
All these factors combined are driving demand for more unified and proactive security solutions. Organisations are now looking beyond traditional defenses and seeking integrated platforms that can help them detect, respond to, and mitigate threats across their entire ecosystem in real time. These trends are pushing businesses to rethink their strategies and adopt a more holistic approach to security.
What are some of the biggest challenges organisations in the Middle East are facing when it comes to cybersecurity, and how is ManageEngine helping them address these issues?
There are multiple challenges in today's cybersecurity landscape. One major issue is the shortage of skilled cybersecurity professionals, which continues to impact organisations across the region. Another key challenge lies in managing and maintaining hybrid infrastructure environments, which add layers of complexity to security operations.
However, the most critical gap right now is the fragmented nature of existing security solutions. Many organisations still operate in silos, with disconnected tools and systems that don't communicate effectively. This fragmentation makes it extremely difficult to gain a unified view of threats and respond efficiently.
This is exactly where ManageEngine is focusing its efforts by building a unified security platform. We're working across our entire product portfolio to address these gaps. Whether it's Privileged Access Management (PAM), Security Information And Event Management (SIEM), or unified endpoint security, our goal is to bring everything together onto one comprehensive secure platform. This will help organisations simplify their security operations, improve visibility, and strengthen their overall cybersecurity posture.
Could you elaborate on ManageEngine's theme at GISEC Global 2025 and what specific innovations or solutions you showcased during the event?
Today, AI is no longer just a buzzword or a 'good to have,' it's become an essential part of any organisation's cybersecurity strategy. We've been integrating AI into our solutions for quite some time, not just in the cybersecurity domain but across our entire product portfolio.
From a GISEC 2025 perspective, our focus is on encouraging organisations to adopt a unified security portfolio. We want to help them consolidate their tools and gain clearer visibility into their threat landscape. Our aim is to show how AI-powered insights from our solutions can enhance threat detection, provide a deeper understanding of potential vulnerabilities, and offer a more proactive approach to cybersecurity.
We're also emphasising how our integrated solutions, including SIEM, PAM, and endpoint protection, work together to create a cohesive security framework. Ultimately, we are looking to empower organisations to detect, analyse, and respond to threats faster and more effectively through a unified, AI-driven platform.
How do your AI-powered phishing simulation, AI-driven threat prediction, and automated response mechanisms work together to create a robust security framework for organisations, and how is ManageEngine helping businesses secure their AI-powered future?
At ManageEngine, we focus on three key aspects: simulation, prediction, and automation. Simulation involves gathering data from various sources to proactively analyse potential threats. By simulating different attack scenarios, we can assess and predict what types of threats might emerge. This proactive approach enables us to stay ahead of potential risks.
Next, prediction comes into play. We use the collected data and advanced AI-driven insights to predict upcoming threats. This system-driven approach helps us identify potential vulnerabilities and threats more accurately and in real-time, providing organisations with a clearer understanding of what they might face.
Finally, the third element is automation, with the insights gathered through simulation and prediction, we leverage automation to enhance the response mechanism. This allows us to streamline threat detection and response, making the entire process faster and more efficient.
Our product portfolio is designed to help organisations not only address their cybersecurity needs but also ensure compliance with local regulations, offering tailored solutions that meet regional requirements and provide organisations with a more secure and compliant framework.

Dubai real estate market stabilising; investors confident in long-term growth

The Dubai real estate market is entering a healthy 'stabilisation phase' and investors are confident in long-term projects, according to brokerage and developer Asico. Following a period of remarkable growth where residential property prices surged by approximately 60 per cent between 2022 and early 2025, driven by strong international investor interest, the market is now entering a phase of stabilisation in 2025, said Asico. This transition indicates a move towards a more balanced and sustainable trajectory. Dubai real estate stabilisation phase Several key indicators point towards this stabilisation: Price adjustments: As of January 2025, the average price per square foot stood at AED1,484 ($404), reflecting a slight 0.57 per cent month-on-month dip, indicating a cooling from the rapid escalation witnessed in previous years Shift in demand: While luxury properties continue to attract interest, there's a noticeable shift towards mid-market and affordable housing. In 2024, two out of five ready home sales were valued at less than AED1m ($272,000), highlighting a broader market appeal and a move towards more sustainable growth Supply dynamics: Developers are responding to the evolving market by accelerating construction schedules, aiming to bring handovers forward by three to six months. This proactive approach is designed to meet the current demand and prevent potential shortages, contributing to market equilibrium Wail Abualhamail, Director of Real Estate at Asico, said: 'The current phase of stabilisation reflects the natural progression of a maturing market. We are seeing a shift from speculative buying towards more strategic, long-term investments. At Asico, we believe this evolution is a healthy sign, indicating investor confidence, improved regulation, and a more sustainable future for Dubai's real estate sector.' Despite the stabilisation, Dubai's real estate market continues to exhibit robust performance. In February 2025, the market recorded a 32 per cent increase in transaction volume and a 37 per cent rise in value compared to the same period in 2024, totalling more than AED50bn ($13.6bn). The off-plan market remains a significant driver of this activity, with a 38 per cent increase in volume and a 60 per cent increase in value year-over-year. Key areas such as Dubai Creek Harbour, Mohammed Bin Rashid City, and Dubai Hills have been particularly popular for off-plan investments. The Dubai government's ongoing strategic initiatives are also playing a crucial role in bolstering the real estate sector. The Dubai Economic Agenda (D33), which aims to double the emirate's economy by 2033, specifically focuses on enhancing the contribution of the real estate sector. Furthermore, policies such as the Golden Visa programme and the provision for 100 per cent foreign ownership in certain sectors have further strengthened investor confidence in the market. Asico said: 'As the market enters this phase of stabilisation, investors are presented with opportunities to make informed decisions in a more predictable environment'. The increasing focus on mid-market properties opens avenues for a broader range of investments, while the sustained overall demand underscores the market's long-term strength. According to Asico, this stabilisation period signifies a maturing of Dubai's property sector, where factors such as quality, thoughtful planning, and strategic location are expected to be the primary drivers of long-term returns, moving away from reliance on short-term speculation.

Turkey's Kalyon Enerji seeks global expansion of its renewable business after $7bn Syria deal

Turkey's Kalyon Enerji, in which Abu Dhabi's International Holding Company has a 50 per cent stake, aims to grow its renewable energy portfolio globally, after signing a $7 billion deal in Syria to construct of new power plants in the war-torn country. Kalyon Enerji is co-owned by Turkish conglomerate Kalyon Holding, which has interests in several sectors including construction, energy and aviation. 'Our renewable portfolio at the moment is more than 2 gigawatts in operation but, in the coming five years, our target is to increase our portfolio to 5 gigawatts,' Kalyon Enerji's chief executive Murtaza Ata said in Istanbul. 'We are looking at opportunities in the Middle East, Eastern Europe and in the US to grow our portfolio.' In Eastern Europe, Kalyon Enerji is considering Romania and Poland, while in the Middle East and North Africa, it is targeting markets including Algeria, Morocco and Libya, according to Mr Ata. In the US, 'there are many projects that have been offered to us and we are studying them', he said, without disclosing details. Globally, countries are boosting investments in renewable projects as they look to cut emissions to meet their clean energy goals. The US aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, while other countries have set their own targets to cut emissions to reduce global warming. Kalyon Enerji's portfolio includes a 1.3-gigawatt solar power plant in Turkey, which is the 'largest in Europe and has received the largest green financing from UKEF [UK Export Finance]', Mr Ata said. Its other projects are also based in Turkey. The Istanbul-based company has 'all the capacity and capability to execute projects on its own', Mustafa Kocar, chief executive of Kalyon Holding, said. 'Currently, we are the biggest renewable investor in Turkey. So basically, we have the technical expertise, we have the capacity to inject more equity in new projects and we can secure the financing through our own resources,' he added. 'We have very good relations with the international financing network.' New power plants in Syria Kalyon Enerji is building new power plants in Syria after economic sanctions were lifted on the country by the US and the EU last month. On Thursday, it signed a $7 billion energy investment agreement with a consortium of companies including Qatar 's UCC Holding as well as US company Power international and Cengiz Enerji of Turkey to build a solar power plant with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts and natural gas power plants with a combined capacity of 4,000 megawatts in the country. 'The target is to complete natural gas power plants in three years after financial closure, which maybe four years from today. For solar one and a half year after financial closure, which is two and a half years from today,' said Mr Ata. After 14 years of war, Syria's electricity sector has been suffering from severe damage to its grid and power stations, ageing infrastructure, and persistent fuel shortages, generating only 1.6 gigawatts of electricity, down from 9.5 gigawatts before 2011, according to a Reuters report. Reconstructing the country's power sector is expected to cost about $11 billion and the new administration is betting on the private sector shouldering the burden, underlining a shift from the state-led economic policies of the former regime led by Bashar Al Assad. 'We are really happy to contribute to the development of Syria after the new situation,' Mr Ata said. Global expansion in construction Meanwhi, Kalyon Holding is also eyeing opportunities in other verticals of its business including in construction, according to Mr Kocar. 'We were more [of] a local company, but in the last couple of years, with this strategy of internationalisation, on the construction side, we are undertaking some works in Azerbaijan in rail and highway,' he said. 'We are also doing a gas pipeline project for Romania' state-owned Transgaz and are bidding for many tenders on the construction side in the Middle East, CIS [Commonwealth of Independent States], North Africa and Eastern Europe.' Kalyon Holding is also eyeing opportunities in airport construction in Turkey and other parts of the Middle East after building Istanbul airport in 2019. 'We have a 55 per cent stake in Istanbul airport, and we have completed its construction, and we are now managing the airport together with our partner there,' Mr Kocar said. 'Airport construction investment is also an area that we are looking at, not only in Turkey but also in the region.'
