Harvey Knibbs netted a last-gasp goal to give Nathan Jones' side a fairytale return to the second division.
The result could have been different if the hosts had been awarded a penalty after Thomas Kaminski brought down Nestory Irankunda.
Penalty shouts from Watford fans and players were waved away by referee Stephen Martin.
The decision left the hosts fuming but no more so than former player and now assistant sporting director Behrami.

The former Swiss international could be seen berating the fourth official on the touchline.
The moment was made even more remarkable as he is not a part of the coaching staff and manager Paulo Pezzolano was not involved.
Fans were even taken aback by the moment as they reacted on social media.
One posted: "Never seen a non-coaching staff member as animated as Valon Behrami today."

Behrami, 40, played for Watford for two seasons between 2015 and 2017.

He made 49 appearances for the Hornets without scoring a single goal.
One match would stick out in fans' memories as he puked all over the pitch during the clash with Everton.
But it was West Ham that brought him to the English shores back in 2008.

The Hammers signed the midfielder from Lazio for £5million and he became a key part of the team.
Behrami did have his time in the East End disrupted by injury as he suffered an ACL in 2009.
In total, he played 63 times for West Ham and scored five goals, including a winner against Sunderland in November 2008.

Between playing at Upton Park and Vicarage Road, he had spells at Fiorentina, Napoli and Hamburg.
After leaving England for the final time as a player, he had spells at Udinese, Sion, Genoa and Brescia before retiring in 2022.
He was appointed as Watford's assistant sporting director in July.

Marcus Rashford has offered a withering assessment of Manchester United's predicament, saying a lack of consistent playing principles since Sir Alex Ferguson stood down has left the club in 'no man's land'. The forward, on loan for the season at Barcelona from United, believes that despite repeated talk of transition, no transition has taken place and that the club will not be able to win the Premier League or achieve consistent success unless they make a plan and stick with it. 'Show me a successful team that just adapts,' Rashford told the Rest is Football podcast. 'When Fergie was in charge, not only the principles for the first team, the whole academy set-up so you could pick players from 15 years and over – that's a full generation. And they'd all understand the principles of playing the Man United way, right? 'You see it with any team that's been successful over a period of time: they have principles that any coach that comes in, any player that comes in, has to align to these principles or be able to add to these principles. Whereas at times I feel like United have just been … we're hungry to win, so we'll always try to adapt and to sign players that fit this system. But it's reactionary. 'If your direction's always changing, you can't expect to be able to win the league. Yeah, you might win some cup tournaments, but it's because you do have a good coach and you do have good players and you have match winners in your team – you're not there by accident. 'This is what some people forget. So yeah, we've been way below where we deem United to be. But then if you take a step back, which I've been able to do, especially over the last six months – what do you expect? People say we've been in a transition for years. To be in a transition, you have to start the transition. So it's like the actual transition's not started yet.' No United manager in the post-Ferguson era has been given three years. Rashford said the club could learn from Liverpool who, in 2020 under Jürgen Klopp, ended a 30-year wait for a top-flight title. Klopp joined in October 2015 and secured his first trophy in 2019. 'When Liverpool went through this, they got Klopp, they stuck with him,' Rashford said. 'They didn't win in the beginning. People only remember his final few years when he was competing with [Manchester] City and winning the biggest trophies – he certainly didn't win for three years. 'To start a transition, you have to make a plan and stick to it. So this is the thing that I feel – it's not easy. Because if it's not going well, the fans demand [change]. But this is where I speak about being realistic with what your situation is. "I feel like we've had that many different managers and different ideas and different strategies in order to win … you end up in the middle of – you end up in no man's land.' Guardian

Wexford GAA players set to receive weekend off for Electric Picnic
Wexford GAA are set to give their players a weekend off from Championship action so as not to clash with Electric Picnic. Ireland's most popular music festival takes place in Stadbally between August 29 and 31st and usually takes place right in the middle of the Championship season. And now the Irish Independent are reporting that Wexford chiefs have decided to make the big call that Championship action is to be pushed back a week. The Hurling Championship games were due to take place the weekend of Electric Picnic, but the decision has been made to push them back a week. This comes after a week was left free to facilitate Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, which took place in the county. The newspaper says that the decision has left some in the county 'bemused', while those inside Wexford GAA have defended it, saying that in recent years, they have received numerous fixture change requests on the same weekend. Given the age profile of camping festival attendees, Electric Picnic draws GAA players all around the country to Stradbally. This has caused issues with the Championship season, with many players stuck in the unenviable position of choosing between attending the festival and playing the Club Championship. This year's festival, which takes place between August 29 and 31, features headliners such as Sam Fender, Kings of Leon, and Chappell Roan. GAA calendars are notoriously tight and difficult to juggle, with summer fixtures often disrupted by players' holiday plans. Club Championship seasons rarely start too early if a county is eliminated from the All-Ireland or Tailteann Cup, as they need to align with the Club Provincial Championships. Cuala are the reigning All-Ireland Club Football Champions, while Na Fianna are Hurling Champions.
