At least 73 in Gaza killed while seeking aid, Israel orders evacuations

At least 73 people were killed while attempting to access aid at locations across Gaza on Sunday, the health ministry in the Palestinian territory said.
The largest toll was in northern Gaza, where at least 67 Palestinians were killed while trying to reach aid entering northern Gaza through the Zikim crossing with
Israel , according to the ministry and local hospitals.
More than 150 people were wounded, with some of them in critical condition, hospitals said.
It was not immediately clear whether they were killed by the Israeli army or armed gangs, or both. But some witnesses said that the Israeli military shot at the crowd.
The killings in northern Gaza did not take place near aid distribution points associated with the Gaza Humanitarian Fund, or GHF, a US- and Israel-backed group that hands out food packages to Palestinians. Witnesses and health workers say hundreds of people have been killed by Israeli fire while trying to access the group's distribution sites.
The Israeli military did not immediately make any comment on Sunday's killings.

Gaza's hunger crisis: 100-lorry aid convoy enters as Israel begins ‘tactical pause'

Against the backdrop of a looming hunger crisis in the Gaza Strip, large-scale aid deliveries reached the besieged and embattled coastal area for the first time in months on Sunday. A convoy of about 100 lorries carrying goods for the suffering population entered the Gaza Strip via the Kerem Shalom border crossing, according to sources in the Palestinian territory. A few hours earlier, the Israeli military announced that it would observe a daily self-declared 'tactical pause in military activity for humanitarian purposes' in parts of the Gaza Strip from 10am to 8pm until further notice. The pause applies to al-Mawasi in the southwest of the coastal strip, Deir al-Balah in the centre and Gaza City in the north – areas where the Israeli army was not operating, it said. Israel designated al-Mawasi as a 'humanitarian zone' earlier in the war. However, the military has since attacked there multiple times, resulting in many deaths. Deir al-Balah is home to the World Health Organization's (WHO) central warehouse, which the WHO said was damaged when Israeli ground troops first entered the area. In addition, humanitarian corridors will be in place from 6am to 11pm to allow the UN and aid organisations to deliver food and medicine to the population in Gaza, the Israeli military said.
