Oregon woman arrested after K9 finds her hiding in woods near Kiwanis Park

OREGON, Ill. (WTVO) — A 34-year-old Oregon woman was arrested Wednesday after police used a K9 to root out a 'suspicious subject' hiding in the woods near Kiwanis Park.
According to the Ogle County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called in to assist the Oregon Police Department for a search in the woods near the 200 block of N. 2nd Street.
The K9 officer located Ashley Paddle hiding nearby.
Paddle was wanted by police for an active Ogle County traffic warrant.
Paddle was taken to the Ogle County Jail and held without bond.

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Winnebago County Sheriff's Deputies arrested Mitchell Soun, 34, for delivering cocaine, according to court records. On June 11, around 7 p.m., officers pulled over a silver Acura SUV at the intersection of East State and 3rd Streets that they suspect was involved in a shooting in Cherry Valley on May 14. Authorities asked to search the car, but Soun told them no, court records show. Officials then had a K9 sniff the vehicle. The dog alerted deputies that drugs were in the rear passenger side of the vehicle. Police searched the Acura and found cocaine and cannabis. Rockford teen accused of torturing animals to death in two separate incidents

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Rockford Police arrested Landon Mikaelson, 19, for allegedly torturing dogs and cats to death. Officers took Mikaelson into custody on June 11, after reports from a man who claimed the suspect strangled his cat and dog. The owner of the animals told officials, Mikaeson had killed a cat and a dog in the past. Mikaelson strangled a cat on May 29 and May 30, the owner reported. The man told officials that the suspect also strangled a dog to death on May 2. A witness from the May 30 confirmed the incident happened and that he pulled the cat away from Mikaelson. On Dec. 23, 2024, a woman reported to authorities that he had called her on Instagram to show her a cat he had killed. The suspect told her he killed the cat by strangling, kicking and punching it because it was meowing too much, according to court records. Mikaelson denied torturing any of the animals when interviewed by officers.
