How iconic ‘Baywatch' slow-motion beach running scene came to be
Nicole Eggert is spilling some secrets.
The 'Baywatch' alum, who first joined the series during its third season in 1992, opened up about her time on the popular beach drama during an appearance on Steve Kmetko's 'Still Here Hollywood' podcast on Monday.
She discussed one of the show's most iconic scenes, which followed her running in slow motion down the beach with a rescue tube in her hand.

The clip played during the credits of every episode Eggert was in, and she revealed how that the trademark scene was not originally supposed to be in slow motion.

'We were the guinea pigs, the first two seasons of this new look of 'Baywatch,'' Eggert, now 53, explained. 'Nobody mentioned the slow-mo.'
While Eggert was initially filmed 'running full speed' down the beach, it wasn't until an editor began messing around with the footage that the now-iconic scene was made.

'And let me tell you something, full speed running in slow motion is not cute,' she joked. 'Not cute at all.'

Elsewhere during her appearance on the 'Still Here Hollywood' podcast Monday, Eggert said she was originally supposed to star in a 'Baywatch' spinoff that was '90210-esque' but 'at the beach.'
Those plans were ultimately scrapped after 'Baywatch' exploded in popularity, and the actress was added to the show's third season as lifeguard Roberta 'Summer' Quinn.

Eggert 'politely bowed out' after only two seasons because it was not the series she originally signed up for, and she quickly learned that starring on 'Baywatch' was a 'mess' that left her permanently branded as a 'bimbo.'

'I had some crazy idea in my head that if I left the show, I would be able to detach myself from the stigma that the show had given all of us as actors, which is not a thing,' she explained.
'People have an idea of who you are, and that could be a number of things,' Eggert continued. 'And I think it's harder for people to get to know you without this preconceived notion that they have going in.'

She also said that it was 'weird' being part of the biggest show in the world while also getting 'ripped apart in the press' and realizing that 'the casting doors were not opening anymore.'
'And then all of a sudden it was like we were called 'Baywatch bimbos' and these dumb bimbos on the beach and it's T & A,' she remembered. 'And then on the other hand, you have this number-one hit on your hand, and it's like what a kerfuffle. What a mess.'
Although Eggert departed 'Baywatch' after two seasons in 1994, she later returned in 2003 for the TV movie 'Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding.' Pamela Anderson, 57, also reprised her role as Casey Jean Parker for the project.

Before 'Baywatch,' which ran from 1989 to 2001, Eggert had recurring roles in the police drama 'T.J. Hooker' and the sitcom 'Who's the Boss?' She also starred in 'Charles in Charge.'

She previously opened up about her time on the beloved beach drama, as well as her shocking battle with Stage 2 breast cancer, last year.
But Eggert is not the only 'Baywatch' alum making recent headlines.

Her former co-star, David Hasselhoff, sparked concern earlier this month when he was seen being pushed around an airport in a wheelchair following his ex-wife's tragic suicide.

Hasselhoff, 72, revealed that he was in a wheelchair because he was preparing to undergo knee surgery, and his rep confirmed the upcoming operation with The Post.
'David is doing fine and actually he and [his] wife were returning from a great vacation in Cancun last week,' his rep said.

Fans Slam Young Thug For ‘Dragging' Girlfriend Mariah The Scientist Away From Photographers
Social media users are raising an eyebrow over a viral video of rapper Young Thug and Mariah the Scientist's red carpet appearance at the BET Awards. The musical pair, who have been romantically linked since October 2021, blew past the red carpet at the 25th awards ceremony Monday evening. In a now-viral clip, Young Thug is seen holding Mariah's hand while guiding her past the red carpet. The 'Die Today' rapper donned a black suit and a Leatherface-esque mask that covered his face while the 'Burning Blue' singer sported a short, backless green dress. Hand-in-hand with Mariah the Scientist, Young Thug briefly paused to compliment a fellow guest who lauded the couple as they quickly hustled across the red carpet. After a photographer seemingly called out to Mariah the Scientist (real name Mariah Amani Buckles) to take a photo, Young Thug appeared to flip off someone while telling Mariah, 'We're not doing that, c'mon,' as he continued pulling her away. The R&B star was seen looking back repeatedly before following Young Thug (real name Jeffrey Lamar Williams). Social media users slammed the interaction in the comments section of the video. 'He's literally dragging her along as if people wouldn't want pictures of her too….poor poor girl,' one person wrote. Another questioned, '[The photographers] were calling her name, why didn't he want her to take pictures.' 'She got the hottest R&B song out right now. This is her moment. A man will embarrass you,' someone else wrote. Meanwhile on X, formerly Twitter, social media users further condemned the couple's awkward exchange. Tyler Perry Slams Erasure Of Black History In Politically Charged BET Speech
Tyler Perry wasted no time tearing into Trump's administration and the divisive state of America during the BET Awards Monday night. After sharing a brief story about his son, the billionaire media mogul launched into an impassioned State of the Union-esque address to condemn what has been happening in the country as of late — specifically with the erasure of Black history. 'I want you to pay attention to— don't miss this,' he began onstage. 'They are removing our books from libraries. They are removing our stories and our history. They are removing our names from government buildings as if someone wants to erase our footprints.' 'Because what we need to understand is that if our children don't know our history, they won't know our power,' Perry added. The filmmaker pointed his message to Black viewers, telling them, 'The truth of the matter [is], it's impossible to erase our footprints, because we left them on water. What I mean by that is, we were snatched from our homeland, bought across the ocean and left footprints all the way to America.' Perry continued his history lesson, nodding to the sanitation of African American history in museums and calling out American tragedies like the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre, where several businesses were famously burned down on Oklahoma's Black Wall Street in an effort to destroy the thriving community. 'So, this is not the time to be silent,' Perry continued to the audience. 'This is not the time to give up. This is the time to dig in and keep leaving footprints everywhere you go.' He even took a moment to brag about how he's 'made more Black millionaires than any studio in this city combined.' 'Because I'm making footprints,' he added. Perry concluded his powerful speech, saying, 'So I don't care if you're struggling, if you're trying to make it, if you're trying to build a business. If you have a dream, keep making footprints. Don't let anybody stop you. You can do it.' Perry isn't the only star who took hold of the BET Awards spotlight to deliver a politically charged message. Doechii, who won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist, used her acceptance speech to blast the 'ruthless attacks' from Trump's administration after it deployed military forces on Los Angeles protests over the weekend over immigration raids. 'Trump is using military forces to stop a protest,' she said. 'And I want y'all to consider what kind of government it appears to be when every time we exercise our democratic rights to protest, the military is deployed against us.' 'I feel it's my responsibility as an artist to use this moment to speak up for all oppressed people,' the rapper added. 'For Black people, for Latino people, for trans people, for the people of Gaza, we all deserve to live in hope and not in fear, and I hope we stand together, my brothers and my sisters, against hate. And we protest against it.'
