Kuwait busts visa fraud gang linked to European immigration scam
The MoI confirmed that the arrests were made by the General Department of Residency Investigations, operating under the Citizenship and Residency Affairs Sector, as part of a broader crackdown on organised crime.
The investigation, conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, uncovered serious violations, including:
Falsified professions
Forged work permits
Tampered bank statements
Fabricated documents aimed at meeting visa requirements imposed by European embassies

Authorities identified an Egyptian national, believed to be operating the scam from abroad via social media, as one of the main figures behind the illegal immigration scheme. Several other suspects were arrested within Kuwait, and their devices and forged documents have been seized.
As part of ongoing international security cooperation, Kuwaiti authorities have informed their counterparts in Egypt, where further investigations are underway.
The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to upholding national security and enforcing the law, warning that it will not tolerate such criminal activities. It also urged the public to respect the country's legal and immigration frameworks.

Saudi Arabia assumes command of Combined Task Force 150
MANAMA — The Royal Saudi Navy assumed command of Combined Task Force 150, a multinational maritime task force, from the Royal New Zealand Navy during a change of command ceremony held onboard Naval Support Activity, in Bahrain on Tuesday. The ceremony was presided over by U.S. Navy Vice Adm. George Wikoff, commander of Combined Maritime Forces (CMF). Royal New Zealand Navy Commodore Rodger Ward turned over command to Royal Saudi Navy Commodore Fahad S. Al Joaid. The handover ceremony was also attended by Chief of Staff of the Saudi Naval Forces Lt. Gen. Mohammed Al-Gharibi; Saudi Ambassador to Bahrain Naif Al-Sudairy; and a number of officials, ambassadors, and military attachés. After assuming command of the task force, Fahd Al-Joaid delivered a speech in which he affirmed the full readiness of the naval forces to carry out their assigned duties. 'This mission carries great responsibility. We will build on the achievements of our predecessors and work closely with all CMF partners to safeguard these vital waters together,' he said. Al-Joaid noted that this marks the fourth time the Kingdom has had the honor of leading the force. The Royal Saudi Naval Forces previously assumed command of CTF-150 from the British Royal Navy in 2018, the French Navy in 2020, and the Pakistan Navy in 2022. CTF 150 was established in February 2002, and is one of five operational task forces under Combined Maritime Forces. CTF 150 conducts maritime security operations outside the Arabian Gulf against threats from non-state actors. Saudi Arabia blocks foreign online store for selling counterfeit gold bullion
RIYADH — The Ministry of Commerce blocked a non-compliant, untrusted online store based outside Saudi Arabia after it was found advertising counterfeit gold bullion made of copper and coated with gold to deceive and mislead shoppers. The ministry detected the violation after the store, which targeted the Saudi market, promoted gold bullion of various weights at half the market value. The store was immediately blocked in cooperation with the relevant authorities to protect consumers and enforce the provisions of the E-Commerce Law and its executive regulations. Afghanistan bus crash death toll rises to 79
The death toll from a collision between an overcrowded bus carrying Afghans refugees expelled from Iran and two other vehicles on the Herat-Kabul highway has risen to 79. The crash in western Afghanistan involved a motorcycle, a truck and a bus late on Tuesday, said Ahmdullah Muttaqi, head of the information department for Herat's provincial government. Abdul Mateen Qaniee, spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior, said the bus caught fire after the accident, which happened a 30-minute drive outside Herat. Video footage from the scene showed bright flames engulfing the bus, with a fire truck trying to douse the flames. A charred metal skeleton remained of the bus afterwards, pictures showed. 'We urge transportation authorities to provide accurate information about the accident as soon as possible and to share their findings regarding the responsible party,' said Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Afghan government. Herat, a key border province of Afghanistan touching Iran and Turkmenistan, is currently hosting tens of thousands of deported migrants from Iran.
