Yahoo13-05-2025

Samuel French, a Texan actor known for his role as undercover FBI agent CJ Robinson in 'Killers of the Flower Moon,' died this morning in Waco, Texas following a years-long battle with cancer. He was 45.
Born on January 26, 1980, French's family moved to Clifton, Texas when he was 3. He graduated from high school there before moving to Austin and eventually Dallas, landing early acting credits on series like 'Texas Rising' and 'Fear the Walking Dead' as 'Ben,' as well as film roles like 'Pegasus: Pony With a Broken Wing,' 'The Pro Bono Watchman' and a role in the 2024 crime thriller 'Blood Dried Hands.'

French's final performance will be as Detective Bernard Crooke in the crime drama/thriller 'Towpath,' written and directed by Paul Sinacore. 'Samuel was a dear friend and an incredible actor,' Sinacore said in a statement posted to Instagram. 'Together we were on an extraordinary journey, giving everything we had to realize a shared creative vision. 'Towpath' wouldn't exist without him, and the incredible intensity he brought to the role of Detective Bernard Crooke set the tone for the entire film. Samuel carried a fire for acting that burned in every frame — unfiltered, fearless, and alive.'
'He gave himself completely to the work, and it showed. I am deeply saddened by his loss and only wish he could have seen the final cut. He was one of a kind, and he will remain in our hearts forever. My heart goes out to his family, and especially to his daughter — he loved her deeply and spoke of her often with pride and tenderness.'

Martin Scorsese says he can no longer watch any movies in theaters

Few directors have spent more time advocating for movies and movie theaters over the course of their careers than Martin Scorsese. In a recent interview with film critic Peter Travers, Scorsese said that he can no longer stand watching movies in theaters, and that includes his own films. 'I asked the maestro why he doesn't see movies in theatres any more and he went all raging bull about audiences who babble on phones during the movie, leave to order snacks and vats of soda, and keep up a noise level loud enough to drown out the actors,' Travers said, per The Guardian. Recommended Videos ''Come on, Marty,' I said, 'we couldn't keep our mouths shut when we were kids,'' Travers said, explaining that he had tried to remind the director that bad behavior in movie theaters isn't new. 'His [Scorsese's] eyes darkened. 'Yeah, maybe,' he conceded, 'but when we talked it was always about the movie and the fun we had chewing over the details.'' Scorsese's stance comes several years after he made related, controversial comments suggesting that the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies were akin to theme park rides. Even as he has continued to make great films, Scorsese has also become one of the leading voices on the state of the American film industry. The director has been working in Hollywood for 50 years now, and has made classics like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and Goodfellas over the course of his careers. His two most recent films, The Irishman and Killers of the Flower Moon, were both partnerships with streaming services.

Texas to be paid based on how often users play with Longhorns on EA College Football 26

Texas to be paid based on how often users play with Longhorns on EA College Football 26 The University of Texas will be paid based on how many users play EA College Football 26 using the Longhorns. The "play-for-pay" model is a change on the way the video company pays for Name Image Likeness (NIL) rights to participating schools. According to Matt Liberman of beginning on the game's release on July 10, all 136 FBS schools that opted into the game will be compensated by their popularity with gamers. 'For each CFB product released by EA SPORTS, we (CLC Learfield) will provide a percentage for each institution based on the games played for that institution as a percentage of the total games played across all institutions. This percentage of games played will become the final allocation percentage for each school that will be applied to the total gross royalties for all institutions received.' - EA document obtained by cllct Previously, teams were divided into five tiers based on a decade of AP rankings. Tier 1 earned just shy of $100,000, while Tier 5 made less than $10,000. Texas was in Tier 2 and earned just short of $60,000. Players this season will receive a raise from the $600 all but Arch Manning earned last season. Players can earn up to $3,000 based on negotiations with EA and NIL partner Pathway Sports & Entertainment. College Football 26 will be released on July 10. Last year's version became the most widely played sports video game of all time with more than 1.7 billion streams of the game. Follow us on X (formerly Twitter) at @LonghornsWire.
