Death of 41-year-old man prompts homicide investigation in Princeton, B.C.
Princeton RCMP were called to 'a report of a man in medical distress' just north of the town on Monday, the B.C. RCMP's Southeast District Major Crime Unit said in a news release Tuesday.
When they arrived, officers found 41-year-old Kyle Schmunk inside a brown, 2002 Toyota Corolla, according to the unit. Despite efforts to save his life, Schmunk died at the scene.
Police did not specify exactly where or at what time the incident occurred. The major crime unit is asking the public for help determining where else Schmunk was on the day of his death.
'MCU investigators are looking for public assistance in determining Schmunk's whereabouts on July 21, 2025,' said Staff Sgt. Jason Smart, in the release.
'If you have any information regarding Schmunk, the brown, 2002 Toyota Corolla, dashcam footage or video surveillance from Highway 5A north of Princeton between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. on July 21, 2025, please contact the RCMP.'

Charges laid in Langley, B.C., double-shooting that left 1 man dead
Nearly one year after a double-shooting in Langley, B.C., that left a 41-year-old man dead, a suspect has been charged with second-degree murder. Authorities said they found two men shot after responding to report of gunfire on 202B Street in the early morning hours of Aug. 2, 2024. One of the victims, Langley resident Dillan Unger, succumbed to his injuries in hospital. On Friday, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team announced charges against Stephen Johnson. Authorities have never commented on a possible motive in Unger's killing. IHIT said it will not be providing any further details while the case is before the courts.

Pictou, N.S., man wanted on provincewide arrest
Michael Craig Clyburn is wanted on a province-wide arrest in Nova Scotia. (Source: RCMP) A 43-year-old man from Pictou, N.S., is wanted on a provincewide arrest warrant. Kingston, Ont. woman charged with 2nd-degree murder in death of newborn
Police in Kingston, Ont. say a woman is facing a second-degree murder charge in connection with the death of a newborn baby. An investigation into a suspicious death began July 27 at a home on Albany Drive in Kingston's west end, police said in a news release. Thi My Nguyen, 22, was charged on July 29 with improperly interfering with a dead body. She appeared in court the following day for a bail hearing. On Friday, police announced Nguyen had been charged with second-degree murder. 'Due to the circumstances of the incident under investigation, no prior release was made, as there was no apparent risk to public safety. This remains the case today,' Kingston police said.
