Hong Kong users of the social media platform Threads recently might have encountered a certain Choi San-keung, a sleep-deprived, middle-aged taxi driver who regularly engages with other internet users and shares his nightmares with them.
Choi, who has been active since March, has also been spotted on in the Hong Kong subway on an MTR train, on the streets and in cinemas.
This eccentric influencer is the alter ego of veteran actor and filmmaker Nick Cheung Ka-fai, who plays Choi in new horror thriller film
Peg O' My Heart , which he directed and co-wrote. It is the fourth movie Cheung has directed.

Cheung's activity on Threads may just be part of promotion for the film, but his social media fame represents yet another achievement in a successful career that has seen him repeatedly reinvent himself.

Born in 1964 in Hong Kong, Cheung grew up poor with his mother and three sisters in Shek Kip Mei, Kowloon, after his father abandoned the family when he was around five years old.

Fans flock to ‘Keung To Bay' to celebrate Cantopop star's birthday in Hong Kong
Overseas fans of Hong Kong's Cantopop star Keung To joined thousands of local counterparts to celebrate the singer's 26th birthday, with some travelling from Canada and the United States to mark the occasion. Advertisement Three birthday-themed parade trams on Wednesday carried fans non-stop from Whitty Street in Sai Wan to Causeway Bay, which was once again filled with Keung's supporters holding up banners and exchanging merchandise, turning one of the city's busiest shopping districts into 'Keung To Bay.' This year also marked the fourth time that the local celebrity's fan club sponsored free tram rides for all Hong Kong residents on his birthday. After the parade, many fans stayed to take photos with various installations featuring birthday wishes and Keung's photos in the area, including some who had travelled from North America and Europe for the special occasion. Cantopop star Nicholas Tse ends run of shows at Hong Kong's Kai Tak Stadium
Cantopop star Nicholas Tse Ting-fung has wrapped up his four-day run of concerts at Kai Tak Sports Park, attracting tens of thousands of fans and the city's leader, with observers saying such mega-events will boost the city's soft power and economy. Advertisement Tse's previous solo concert in the city was in 2000 at the Hong Kong Coliseum, and the intervening years have not dampened his appeal to fans. Tickets for his 'Evolution Nic Live' series of shows at Kai Tak Stadium sold out within 15 minutes of public release. A source also confirmed city leader John Lee Ka-chiu was invited to the final show on Sunday night. According to Kai Tak Sports Park, the shows from Thursday to Sunday, as well as a K-pop concert on Saturday, attracted an audience of 180,000.
