Beauty boxes and bags are a brilliant way to sample an array of products without completely blowing your budget. A perfect solution for all you serial over-packers, these little treasures let you try out new products without forcing you to commit to the full-sized products.
Lookfantastic Summer Heroes Edit is a stand-out option right now. Priced at £45, it promises over £150 worth of goodies (boasting four full-sized items and two that are travel-ready). Inside, you'll find a mix of hair care, sun-conscious skin solutions and cosmetics aimed to keep your skin looking fresh and dewy all summer long.
Past customers have lavished the box with glowing five-star reviews. One commented: "Such a lovely beauty box, great value for money."
Another chimed in: "Best value edit ever. A variety of spectacular products."
The saving of more than £100 fits nicely into the guilt-free splurge category, especially when the holiday shopping list looks a bit on the pricey side.
The only potential downside for some is that only four of the products are full-sized. However, the minis are perfect for squeezing into your hand luggage – especially when you're dealing with those pesky travel restrictions, reports the Express.
One of the most popular items in the box is the ESPA Optimal Skin Pro Serum, a full-size 30ml product. Typically applied during the morning and night when your face is feeling a bit parched, this is perfect when revitalising your skin.
The brand claims it's crafted from a mix of plant-based oils, along with Vitamin F, Echium Oil, and Vitamin E. A full-size product usually retails at £55.
Next in line is the Eucerin Sun Face Pigment Control SPF 50, an essential for the summer season. This one promises no white residue, even under make-up, and is also said to help address pigmentation over time.
Another premium and fairly universal product in the box is the Caudalie Beauty Elixir, a face spritz designed to set makeup and impart a glow. The product comes in a 30ml bottle, making it compliant with hand luggage restrictions, so it can easily be incorporated into your in-flight skincare routine.
It's priced at £18 when bought separately. For money-saving tips, sign up to our Money newsletter here
For hair care, the Color Wow Pop and Lock High Gloss Finish is a full-sized product (at 55ml) and is valued at £22. The brand suggests adding a few drops to the ends of your hair for added shine.
The final full-size product in the box is the Iconic London Instant Sunshine Bronzing Drops (13ml). Priced at £22 when bought individually, these drops are said to bestow skin with a post-holiday glow.

BBC Antiques Road Trip expert halts show as deal spirals into chaos

Antiques Road Trip expert Phillip Serrell stumbled all over the shop while trying to secure a deal. Antiques Road Trip expert Phillip Serrell was forced to halt the show when things spiralled into chaos during an episode. The antiques lover was hunting in an antiques shop for the perfect item to take to the final auction, when he spotted an old cigarette advertisement positioned high on the wall. ‌ But, as he called seller Dave over to enquire about the price, the dealer wasn't watching where he was heading, which proved to be a costly error in the packed antiques shop. ‌ Phil stumbled over an item, leaving Dave utterly stunned. Deciding to use the moment to his advantage, he declared: "Oh, I can feel a claim coming on!" ‌ He then called out: "My back, my back!" whilst jokingly attempting to negotiate the price down further. The expert eventually agreed on £55 for the weathered sign, quipping: "It should have a health warning but lets hope it doesn't have a wealth warning." It wasn't the only mishap for him in Dave's establishment, as he struggled to manoeuvre his way around the jam-packed store, reported the Express. ‌ He toppled several items as he explored every corner and crevice of the shop. But the awkwardness proved worthwhile as the sign achieved an impressive £10 profit when it went to auction. ‌ The cheeky BBC expert sparked excitement among fans recently with a new show proposal. The antique expert, alongside co-star Natasha Raskin-Sharp, has been touring the UK in search of hidden treasures, this time focusing their efforts on Sheffield. Before they began their hunt back in February, Philip made an intriguing suggestion: "I think we need to have the Phil and Tash show." ‌ A surprised Natasha responded: "Do you reckon?", she asked: "Are you pitching right now?" Philip confirmed his idea, stating: "Phil and Tash on the road, you heard it here first. " Fans were thrilled by the prospect, with one saying: "Really enjoyed the first week of new series, just to say' Phil and Tash on the road ' is something I would watch happily!" ‌ Another chimed in: "The best two ever on the #antiquesroadtrip". In other Antiques Road Show news, a previous guest sadly died, a few years after they had received a life-changing valuation on the series. Back in 2005, a guest on the American version of the show had their life changed when their item was revealed to be of huge value. ‌ Antiques expert David Rago met an astonished visitor called Tom, who had brought along an 1880 jug passed down through generations. Tom explained: 'This piece belonged to my grandmother, and when she sold her house, the grandkids and the kids could choose different things. This is the piece that I always wanted, so my name was on this one for a long time.' ‌ David proceeded to assess the massive jug at an incredible $65,000 (£48,264) to $85,000 (£63,115) before disclosing what the antique actually fetched at auction. But four years after the life-altering valuation, Tom sadly passed at age 46. Antiques Road Trip is available on watch on BBC iPlayer. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Helen Mirren speaks out on return to 'wonderful' Thursday Murder Club for sequel

EXCLUSIVE: Dame Helen Mirren has opened up about her role in The Thursday Murder Club and her friendship with co-star Celia Imrie, as she walked the red carpet for the film's premiere The Thursday Murder Club hits cinemas on Friday 22nd August and lands on Netflix on Thursday 28th August. ‌ Devotees of Richard Osman's bestseller have been eagerly anticipating the big-screen adaptation, and chatting to Reach Plc on the red carpet, Dame Helen Mirren revealed her desire for a sequel, her favourite moment from filming and which character she'd fancy portraying if she wasn't playing former spy Elizabeth. ‌ Helen described working on the production as "wonderful" and revealed that close pal Celia Imrie had her in stitches on set with her portrayal of Joyce. ‌ The distinguished actress continued, saying if she hadn't been cast as Elizabeth, she'd have fancied being "Joyce, with the cake". Helen also discussed her thoughts on the transition from cinema to streaming, explaining: "Well it's brilliant to be able to watch a movie in your home and stop for a cup of tea when you want to. But there's nothing like watching a move with an audience. I saw Thursday Murder Club in New York with an audience of about 400 people and there was so much laughter and there's nothing like sharing an experience with an audience." ‌ So, might supporters anticipate a follow-up? Writer Richard has crafted three additional novels in The Thursday Murder Club collection, providing ample source material, reports the Express. "We hope so, yes we're hoping so," Helen revealed to us. Should she make a comeback, Helen is keen for Naomi Ackie to return as PC Donna De Freitas. She said: "I'm really hoping Naomi comes back because she's such an important part." Reflecting on her time filming the movie, Helen fondly recalled "drinking gin and tonics on the bus with my friend Celia Imrie" as a standout moment. ‌ The Thursday Murder Club centres around a group of pals in a retirement home who spend their time solving murders for amusement, only to find themselves embroiled in a real-life case. The film boasts an impressive cast with Helen and Celia playing Elizabeth and Joyce respectively, Ben Kingsley as ex-psychiatrist Ibrahim, and Pierce Brosnan as former union activist Ron. ‌ Other stars gracing the screen include Daniel Mays, Henry Llloyd-Hughes, Tom Ellis, Jonathan Pryce, David Tennant, Richard E. Grant and Ingrid Oliver. Discussing the inspiration behind The Thursday Murder Club, Richard previously revealed to Tudum: "You just sit and chat with these people and they've lived these extraordinary lives. You hear these amazing stories and gossip and wisdom." You think, 'These people are so overlooked. ' The idea that these people with their wisdom and their invisibility would be the perfect people to solve [a crime] is exactly where The Thursday Murder Club comes from. Take these people who are underestimated but who have these incredible skills, put them together, and they can achieve anything. "

BBC boss addresses Gregg Wallace's complaints 'I may have acted differently'

EXCLUSIVE: This year, MasterChef presenter Gregg Wallace was axed from his role on the BBC show following upheld allegations on his behaviour. Kate Phillips, Chief Content Officer at the BBC, has addressed the departure of Gregg Wallace from the beloved cooking programme, MasterChef. ‌ Following 83 accusations regarding Gregg's conduct, a seven-month investigation commenced, which also led to his co-presenter John Torode being dropped. ‌ Ultimately, 45 of those grievances were substantiated and the 60-year-old has since expressed that he is "deeply sorry for any distress" he may have inflicted. ‌ The television host also stated that he "never set out to harm or humiliate", as part of a declaration released to the PA news agency. This week, BBC Chief Content Officer Kate Phillips addressed the circumstances that have emerged over recent months at the Edinburgh TV Festival, reports the Express. When questioned about his departure from Masterchef and being "warned about his conduct in 2019," Kate was asked at the Edinburgh TV Festival, "Do you regret he wasn't removed sooner?" ‌ Kate responded: "I think when complaints came to me about Gregg Wallace, which, as you mentioned, I always dealt with it straight away. So two complaints, I dealt with them, I acted on them. "I think we weren't as joined up in the BBC as we are now, so I didn't know about some of the historical things that have taken place. ‌ "So if I'd known about those at the time, yes, I may have acted differently, but I acted on the information I was given. I think I acted responsibly. "I left in no doubt of the expected behaviour that we expect at the BBC, if you like, and I stand by the actions I took at the time." ‌ She later added: "We are in a really good place, and we have a lot to be proud of, and I think going forward, I want to keep building on that but evolving. "So, taking big creative risks, doing that mix of big, reputational, popular shows, is really important. "And I think our digital growth strategy, and we're very focused on going forward, making sure that we are reaching all the audiences, wherever they are. ‌ "So I think it's building up the successes that we've seen so far. But the world is changing, and it's changing fast, and I'm going to make sure we're evolving with it." Despite both John Torode and Gregg Wallace being removed from the programme, the fresh series has carried on broadcasting, having been recorded prior to their departure. The BBC revealed it had made the choice "after careful consideration and consultation with the contestants". Nevertheless, certain participants have been cut from the series, in the wake of the scandal engulfing the programme.
