Nitish inspects Ganga stream revival work in Bakhtiyarpur

on Monday inspected the ongoing work to revive the old stream of Ganga river from Ghansurpur Ghat to Dadour Ghat under Bakhtiyarpur block in Patna district.
He asked the officials to complete the old stream revival work before the arrival of monsoon this year.
During the inspection, principal secretary of the water resources department, Santosh Kumar Mall, provided detailed information about the progress and current status of the work to the CM.
The CM gave several necessary instructions to the officials. He asked the officials to speed up the work to ensure its completion before the monsoon. "Once the development work around the Sirhi Ghat and its vicinity is completed, it will provide significant convenience to visitors," Nitish said.
Under this project, a total length of 4,420 metres is being dredged from the village of Ghansurpur to Dadour in Bakhtiyarpur block of Patna district to revive the old and dying course of the Ganga river. The administrative approval for this project is Rs 3427.80 lakh. As part of this, protective work is being carried out using geo-bag slope pitching over a total length of 1,520 metres to prevent potential erosion in the channel near the areas of Ghansurpur, Karauta, and Hatiya villages.

The plan also includes the maintenance of the channel for the next three years to ensure continuous water flow. Additionally, land acquisition is being undertaken for the approach road near the under-construction Sirhi Ghat temple and the JMT School.
The CM also offered prayers at the Shri Radhe Krishna temple located at Sirhi Ghat in Bakhtiyarpur, wishing for the state's peace and prosperity. The CM also paid floral tributes and homage at the memorial site of the renowned freedom fighter Pandit Sheel Bhadra Yajee and his wife, the late Balkeshwari Yajee.
Water resources and parliamentary affairs minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, CM's principal secretary Deepak Kumar, CM's secretary Kumar Ravi, commissioner of Patna division Chandrashekhar Singh, DM Thiyagarajan SM, SSP Avkash Kumar and other senior officials of the WRD were present on the occasion.

Despite her serious health problems, the man chose to care for her at home. He did his best, but looking after her came at a high cost. Over time, the total expenses for her care and other medical needs went up to $80,000 (approximately Rs 68 Lakh). Gary Saling said, 'I promised myself, God, her, her brother, her son and daughter, (her stepsons), I promised them I would not put her in a nursing home. I'd keep her at home and I kept it. I paid it all, that's why I'm broke." Saling and Carol met in a very sweet and unexpected way. One day in 1990, when she was driving near a park, she saw Gary walking nearby. They started talking while sitting on a park bench and their chat went on for over three hours. That one meeting turned into something special. Within a year, they were engaged and then got married. Both of them had children from earlier relationships, but once their kids grew up, they decided to start fresh. They moved from California to Montana and later settled in Utah. To help clear the medical bills, Saling decided to do a job that wouldn't be mentally tiring. After spending years working as an architect, he wanted something simple. So, he chose to become a grocery bagger, a job that also let him meet people and make new friends in his community. One of the people he became friends with was Duana Johnson. After learning about his story, she started a fundraiser to support him. The response was amazing, as nearly $40,000 (approximately Rs 34 Lakh) has been collected. Johnson said, 'It's awesome to see that because it shows there's a lot of compassion and love in our country that a lot of people are speaking against. A lot of people are saying it's not that way, but I'm seeing the opposite. Gary told me that Carol was very faithful, she loved the Lord. I just feel like her prayers for him as she was leaving this earth are being answered. She loved him so much." Gary Saling was touched by the kindness of people. When some people called him a hero or even compared him to an angel or saint, Saling didn't agree. He said he was just doing what he had promised. 3L register for MP board's first second-attempt exams
Indore: Over 3.27 lakh students across Madhya Pradesh registered for the second attempt of Class 10 and 12 board examinations. These exams are being conducted by the Madhya Pradesh Board of Secondary Education (MPBSE) for the first time within the same academic year to help students improve their results or clear failed subjects. The registration process, which concluded on Sunday, saw significant participation from students who either failed or wished to improve their marks. This initiative follows a regulatory amendment to the MPBSE Regulations, 1965, allowing students to retake the exams in the same session under the National Education Policy 2020. According to official data, out of the 5,07,304 students who failed the MP Board exams this year, more than 3,27,000 opted for the second attempt. Applications for students who passed the main exams but wanted to improve their scores were accepted until May 25. Students who failed had until May 31 to register, with the deadline later extended to June 8. The second attempt exams are scheduled to begin on June 17 and will continue until July 5, covering all subjects for both Class 10 and 12 students. Chandigarh: A meeting was held Monday to review the implementation of NAKSHA project in the UT on a pilot basis. Chaired by the deputy commissioner-cum-nodal officer for the project, it saw key stakeholders, including representatives from the revenue and urban planning departments, the municipal corporation, and the State Project Management Unit (SPMU), in attendance. The meeting focused on accelerating the preparatory activities crucial to the commencement of the urban land survey under the NAKSHA initiative, which forms a critical component of the Digital India Land Records Modernisation Programme (DILRMP). Emphasising directives and action points, including capacity building of field survey teams, DC Nishant Kumar Yadav said, "The training of the 20 field survey teams must be expedited. The training will cover technical procedures, use of geospatial equipment, survey protocols, and public engagement guidelines to ensure uniformity and precision in field data collection."
