Nitish inspects Ganga stream revival work in Bakhtiyarpur

on Monday inspected the ongoing work to revive the old stream of Ganga river from Ghansurpur Ghat to Dadour Ghat under Bakhtiyarpur block in Patna district.
He asked the officials to complete the old stream revival work before the arrival of monsoon this year.
During the inspection, principal secretary of the water resources department, Santosh Kumar Mall, provided detailed information about the progress and current status of the work to the CM.
The CM gave several necessary instructions to the officials. He asked the officials to speed up the work to ensure its completion before the monsoon. "Once the development work around the Sirhi Ghat and its vicinity is completed, it will provide significant convenience to visitors," Nitish said.
Under this project, a total length of 4,420 metres is being dredged from the village of Ghansurpur to Dadour in Bakhtiyarpur block of Patna district to revive the old and dying course of the Ganga river. The administrative approval for this project is Rs 3427.80 lakh. As part of this, protective work is being carried out using geo-bag slope pitching over a total length of 1,520 metres to prevent potential erosion in the channel near the areas of Ghansurpur, Karauta, and Hatiya villages.

The plan also includes the maintenance of the channel for the next three years to ensure continuous water flow. Additionally, land acquisition is being undertaken for the approach road near the under-construction Sirhi Ghat temple and the JMT School.
The CM also offered prayers at the Shri Radhe Krishna temple located at Sirhi Ghat in Bakhtiyarpur, wishing for the state's peace and prosperity. The CM also paid floral tributes and homage at the memorial site of the renowned freedom fighter Pandit Sheel Bhadra Yajee and his wife, the late Balkeshwari Yajee.
Water resources and parliamentary affairs minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, CM's principal secretary Deepak Kumar, CM's secretary Kumar Ravi, commissioner of Patna division Chandrashekhar Singh, DM Thiyagarajan SM, SSP Avkash Kumar and other senior officials of the WRD were present on the occasion.
