ESPN anchor Jay Harris reveals prostate cancer diagnosis
Harris appeared on "Good Morning America" and sat down with former New York Giants star Michael Strahan to reveal his personal health battle.
"I was diagnosed with prostate cancer," he told Strahan. "I'm having surgery on Tuesday. I'll be away from 'SportsCenter' for about a month to recover. Then I'm coming back better than ever."
Harris said his doctor was "quite optimistic" about his prognosis. He said nothing had spread, according to his latest scans, and was hoping that once the issue is dealt with, then that would be the last of his problems.
The 60-year-old sportscaster said he hoped to spread some awareness and implore men to open up more about getting regular checkups and seeing doctors who can check these things out.
He also wrote about his diagnosis for ESPN.
"My goal in sharing this is to join the many others who also want to normalize this conversation and hopefully provide a bit of guidance and preparation, just as it has been offered to me," he wrote.
Harris said he has leaned on colleagues Hannah Storm and Brian Custer, both who have dealt with their own serious health issues over the years. He said they both provided both inspiration and "real talk" about what to expect.
Fox News senior medical analyst Dr. Marc Siegel had previously called out the need for regular screenings.
"[Screenings] decreased in many areas, including California, as the U.S. Preventive Services Task Force recommended against PSA as a regular screening tool, which I always disagreed with," he told Fox News Digital earlier this year. "Especially as MRI advanced, so not all elevated PSA automatically meant a biopsy."
Based on the increase in prostate cancer cases across all ages, Siegel emphasized the need to "diagnose it early for better outcomes."

Michigan edge Derrick Moore lands on ESPN's Top 100 players list
With just 10 days until its season-opener, No. 14 Michigan is set to wrap up fall camp and pivot towards game prep for Aug. 30's matchup against New Mexico. In preparation for that first full Saturday of the 2025 college football season, ESPN has released a list of the Top 100 players in the country heading into this fall. In years past, Michigan players have littered this list, but with most of the core of U-M's 2023 national championship run having moved on to the NFL, the Wolverines are represented by just one individual on this year's ESPN list: senior edge rusher Derrick Moore. Moore comes in as the No. 81 player nationally according to ESPN, as the senior looks to lead a somewhat new-look defensive line for Michigan in 2025. "After two straight seasons of consistent production for the Wolverines' defense, Moore heads into his senior season ready to once again be one of the key cogs in Wink Martindale's unit," ESPN's Paolo Uggetti wrote of Moore. "At Big Ten media days, Moore made news by joking that Ohio State's title was not a "real win" because the Buckeyes didn't beat Michigan." Expectations are high for the Michigan's defense under second-year coordinator Wink Martindale heading into this season. The Wolverines' defensive line is a major factor in that optimism, with Moore returning alongside fellow senior T.J. Guy to form one of the most dangerous edge rushing duos in the country. Defensive line is perhaps Michigan's deepest position group as well. Edge rushers Cameron Brandt and Dominic Nichols have made noise during fall camp and will rotate with Moore and Guy on the exterior. Meanwhile, on the inside, senior defensive tackle Rayshawn Benny brings All-Big Ten potential, while Clemson transfer Tre Williams also brings a lot of experience to the group. Michigan is expected to rotate up to six defensive tackles throughout the season, with Alabama transfer Damon Payne and home-grown talents Trey Pierce, Enow Etta and Ike Iwunnah are vying for snaps. Michigan will unleash its defensive line depth in earnest on Aug. 30, when the Wolverines welcome New Mexico to the The Big House.

Jets Still Looking to Acquire Receiver to Help Garrett Wilson: Report
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. The New York Jets are one of the most unpredictable teams across the NFL. Many fans don't know what to expect from the first season with quarterback Justin Fields and head coach Aaron Glenn. It appears that the front office is a bit unsure, as it is still trying to add pieces just 17 days before the opening game. EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY - AUGUST 16: Head coach Aaron Glenn of the New York Jets looks on during the first half of the NFL Preseason 2025 game between New York Jets and New York... EAST RUTHERFORD, NEW JERSEY - AUGUST 16: Head coach Aaron Glenn of the New York Jets looks on during the first half of the NFL Preseason 2025 game between New York Jets and New York Giants at MetLife Stadium on August 16, 2025 in East Rutherford, New Jersey. MoreAccording to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Jets are "among several teams monitoring the trade market." Russini's report comes just a day after Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport listed Jets receiver Malachi Corley as a potential player that could be cut. It appears that even with its struggles at receiver, New York is willing to bite the bullet and release a draft pick just one season after taking him in the third round. As far as the trade market goes, there are not many known receivers on the block. The big, documented trade request from a receiver is from Commanders' Terry McLaurin. McLaurin has not been able to work out a new contract in Washington, and that has led him to request a trade from the team. New York could pounce on McLaurin, but it is unlikely that the Commanders are willing to trade their star receiver and face of the franchise. Outside of McLaurin, it is a bit unknown if any other game-changing receivers are available. The Jets may be looking for more depth than anything, but there just aren't yet a ton of options. With rosters needing to be finalized by Tuesday, the trade block will become a more popular place after the final preseason games. The final two or three days before roster finalizing day could be when New York makes its move to get some help in the receiver room. Actor Aubrey Plaza opens up about grief after death of her husband: "It's like a daily struggle"
Actor Aubrey Plaza is opening up for the first time about the death of her husband, Jeff Baena, who died in January. The "Parks and Recreation" star shared her grief on former co-star Amy Poehler's podcast, "Good Hang with Amy Poehler." "Overall, I'm here and I'm functioning," Plaza told Poehler. "it's like a daily struggle, obviously." It's the first time Plaza spoke about losing Baena, 47, to suicide. Plaza compared her grief to the 2025 sci-fi horror film, "The Gorge." "At all times there's like a giant like ocean … of just awfulness," she said. "It's just always there and the monster people are trying to get me." Plaza and Baena, a writer and director, began dating in 2011 and married in 2021 on their tenth anniversary as a couple. Plaza previously spoke about the wedding on "The Ellen Show," describing it as an impromptu event held in their backyard during the COVID-19 pandemic. Following his death, Plaza and Baena's family said in a statement,"This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time." The 41-year-old said on Poehler's podcast that some days, she feels stronger than others. "Right in this very, very present moment, I feel happy to be with you," Plaza told Poehler.
