"44 MLAs Agreed To Form Government": Manipur BJP MLA After Meeting Governor

In a big political development in Manipur, BJP MLA and former minister Thokchom Radheshyam on Wednesday said "all 44 MLAs" have agreed to form the government as per the wishes of the people, but the final decision will be taken by the central leadership.
Mr Thokchom made the statement after he along with nine other MLAs met with Governor AK Bhalla at the Raj Bhavan in Imphal.
"All 44 MLAs have agreed to form a popular government as per the wishes of the people. MLAs are ready to form the government. We have conveyed this to the Governor. We also discussed what solutions can be there for the issues," Mr Thokchom told reporters.
He said the 10 MLAs met the Governor as representatives of all other MLAs to explain their position.
"The Governor noted what we informed and will initiate actions in the best interests of the people," the MLA from Heirok assembly constituency said.
On when would the BJP MLAs stake claim to form a government, Mr Thokchom said a decision will be taken by the central leadership.
"We are a national party. However, to inform you that we are ready is similar to staking a claim to form the government. The Speaker has individually and jointly met with all the MLAs as well. There is no one who opposes the formation of a government," Mr Thokchom said.
He said people are facing too much hardship.
"In the previous term, two years have been lost due to Covid and in this term, another two years lost due to the conflict," the MLA said.
Former chief minister N Biren Singh also met the Governor on Tuesday.
BJP Rajya Sabha MP from Manipur, Maharaja Sanajaoba Leishemba, earlier this month expressed hope that a popular government would be formed in the state within the next two months. He asked all political leaders to unite in dealing with the challenges the state has been facing.
"The President's rule alone cannot resolve the prevailing issues. A popular government can function closely in tandem with the people and find a solution to the present ethnic crisis," he had told reporters.
The BJP's northeast In-charge Sambit Patra earlier this month visited the state's Kangpokpi and Churachandpur districts and met Kuki BJP MLAs Vungzagin Valte and Nemcha Kipgen.
Ms Kipgen was the only woman minister in the then Biren Singh government.

An RCB fan outside the stadium said, "I don't know what we did had tickets." Another, Prashant Shetty, said, "We came to watch our stars. I bought tickets for the function but was not even able to enter the stadium. Police suddenly blocked all the roads and closed all the entrances to the venue, and suddenly they started lathi-charging near the main gate." RCB extends condolences to the affected families, ''We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team's arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us. RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families. Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program, and followed, the guidance and advice of the local administration. We urge all our supporters to please stay safe.'' IPL chairman Arun Dhumal said, "We spoke to the management when we got to know about the situation and they assured that they will finish the ceremony quickly. This is definitely sad and tragic. Opposition slams state govt The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticised the Congress-led government in Karnataka, demanding that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Home Minister G Parameshwara accept responsibility for the incident. Former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said on X: "It is extremely painful to see innocent lives lost even before the celebrations could begin. The primary reason for this massive tragedy is the lack of proper planning and complete failure to take precautionary measures. New Delhi [India], June 4 (ANI): Commenting on Rahul Gandhi's statement in Madhya Pradesh, RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha on Wednesday said the Opposition leaders must not avoid using the same language as the BJP, adding that they are currently in a fight with the ruling party on multiple fronts. Speaking to ANI, RJD MP Jha said, 'I believe there is a LoP who is also the main face of the INDIA alliance... We are fighting with the BJP on many levels. We are fighting ideological, political, theoretical, linguistic, and emotional battles with them. So, we must show that our language and expressions are entirely different from those of the BJP. Otherwise, the same things happen... 'Bhains, Mangalsutra or Mujra.' 'This is my personal opinion that criticism is the most central discussion of politics,' he added. In 1948, Nehru took the Kashmir issue to the UN and surrendered half of it. At Independence, one-third of the country was surrendered to Jinnah and the Muslim League,' Trivedi stated.
