Busy Edinburgh road locked down after bus seen with 'hole in its side'
An eye witness noted that "there's a hole in the side of the bus". Emergency crews have locked down Edinburgh's Haymarket Terrace as bus seen with "hole in the side of it". A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) height appliance was deployed and spotted next to a double decker bus which has had an upper deck window removed, shown in images shared with Edinburgh Live. Police Scotland are on scene and have closed the road in both directions while paramedics were also spotted responding to the incident. The fire service confirmed they received a report to assist the Scottish Ambulance Service at around 7.09pm. One eye witness said: "I saw an ambulance take off and a ladder truck coming away from the window. There's a hole in the side of the bus." Tram services passing through the area have been temporarily suspended while Lothian Buses have said the 3 4 12 25 26 31 33 44 100 113 X19 X18 X7 X4 services will experience delays and diversions. Police Scotland and the ambulance service have been approached for comment. Earlier this month, in a separate incident, we reported that a BMW driver ploughed into an Edinburgh garden causing terrified kids to take cover in their homes. On the evening of June 10, Shona Halliday was at her house in Dalkeith when a motorist"came through the fence to her garden". Footage from the garden shows the BMW 3 series on the lawn, with damage to the front of the vehicle and the wooden fence crumpled underneath. Shona and her neighbour both have 13-year-old boys, who she said "could have been out playing in the garden". Officers have since arrested a 32-year-old driver, who is due to appear in court on July 2. Police have said no injuries were reported. At the time, Shona said: "This happened at 9.05pm last night on Thornybank Grove. "He drove into the Woodburn pavilion car park, then drove right through the boundary fence through my garden and through me and my neighbour's fence. Then was trying to reverse back out. "Neighbour and a bystander got him out the car and held him till the police came. No one was hurt but myself and my neighbour has 13-year-old boys who could have been out in the garden, such a shock. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Around 9.05pm on Tuesday, 10 June, 2025, we received a report of a one vehicle crash on Thornybank Grove, Dalkeith. 'Officers attended, and no injuries were reported. The driver, a 32-year-old man, was arrested and charged in connection with a driving offence and is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 2 July, 20." Bather who exposed himself in university sauna claimed he was 'warming chicken'
Xin Zhang, 60, said he was 'warming his chicken' in the sauna after he was chucked out a lesiure centre by staff. A swimmer who exposed himself in a university sauna while staring at a woman through a glass window has been spared jail. Xin Zhang, 60, was handed a 12-month community order at Manchester Magistrates' Court after admitting a charge of outraging public decency. The court heard how Zhang, who regularly attended the Tom Husband Leisure Centre at the University of Salford, became 'aroused' by the sensation of pool jets during a swim before entering the sauna, reports Manchester Evening News. Prosecutor Emilee Creasey previously told the court that Zhang was spotted 'with his shorts down, rubbing his behind on the bench and touching himself in the sauna whilst staring at [a woman] through the glass window'. The woman, who gave evidence in court, said: 'He stood up. He was looking at me. He pulled his pants down just below the knee. He grabbed his penis and I could see his hands – they were going up and down. I thought 'oh my God'.' She said the incident lasted three to four minutes until a member of staff intervened. Zhang was confronted and told he was banned from the leisure centre before police were called. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! In an interview, Zhang told officers he referred to his genitals as 'my chicken', claiming he had only been trying to warm himself up due to the cold and discomfort from swimming. He denied any sexual intent and said eczema caused him to wear looser clothing, which he was adjusting at the time. In a basis of plea, Zhang admitted touching his genitals but claimed it was not for sexual gratification. However, during a trial of issue earlier this year, magistrates rejected his version of events, finding the act was sexually motivated. They noted inconsistencies in Zhang's statements, including his claim that he had become concerned about a potential medical issue while in the sauna, which prompted him to inspect himself. The court also heard that Zhang has lived in the UK for more than 20 years and had been a member at the leisure centre for over a decade, attending up to six times a week. As well as the community order, he was ordered to pay £400 in prosecution costs and a £114 victim surcharge. He must complete 180 hours of unpaid work and 20 rehabilitation activity days.

Man accused of wishing death on and pushing his wife in Glasgow
Christopher Leggat, 44, is on trial at Glasgow Sheriff Court, accused of verbal and physical abuse towards the woman. Leggat was the ex-managing director of his partner's family company in the city's Hillington. Leggat faces a string of allegations, which include slapping her while walking home from an Old Firm game. He is further stated to have hit the woman on the forehead and pushed her into a kitchen cabinet in the city's Pollokshields. Leggat is also claimed to have kept tabs on her location by using an electronic device. The current managing director told the court that Leggat called her names and tried to stop her from seeing her family. Leggat pleaded not guilty to engaging in a course of behaviour which was abusive to his partner or ex-partner. The charge spans between September 2022 and November 2024. The court heard that Leggat and the woman were married in 2013 and worked together at the firm, where her dad is chairman. She recalled that in October 2022, she had made sausage casserole for the pair. The woman claimed that Leggat told her to serve a "better-looking meal" and called her names. She then stated that the next incident took place in January 2023 as a result of Leggat's birthday plans. She said: "He was most aggrieved and disappointed at a lack of effort to mark his birthday in terms of a meal out. "He also didn't rate his presents, which included a sports water bottle that I bought him." The water bottle - said to have been made famous on TikTok - was allegedly deemed "childish and ridiculous" by Leggat. Leggat is then alleged to have told his wife: "I hope you die in your sleep." The witness added that Leggat apologised to her for the remark and claimed it was "a bit of banter." The pair were given hospitality tickets to Hampden Park in February 2023 for an Old Firm League Cup Final clash. The woman stated that when they walked home after the match, she was pushed into a bush by Leggat. When asked how she felt about the incident, she replied that it was "upsetting." The wife told the court that a notification appeared on her phone in March 2024 regarding an Apple AirTag tracking device. The witness stated that Leggat told her at the time that he had "no knowledge of it." However, Leggat's position to the court is that it was put in the family car. The woman also accused Leggat of "discouraging" her from seeing her parents, which also included a curfew which made her "twitch" when it was close. She also claimed that the last occasion Leggat became violent towards her was in November 2024 at the family home. She stated that Leggat slapped her on the forehead and pushed her into a kitchen cabinet, which resulted in a thigh injury. The woman told the court that she called her father, who attended their home and the police were called. Prosecutor Siobhan Currie asked her why she did not contact the police on an earlier occasion. She replied: "I knew he wanted to stay in the Scottish whisky industry. "From my knowledge, he would find it hard to get into the USA and Singapore, which are key places in the industry. "I didn't want the man not to get an international job." Leggat, now of Bearsden, East Dunbartonshire, told the court in his evidence that he left the company in 2023 with the woman taking over his role. He stated that he did not complain about his birthday plans and refuted allegations that he told her that he wanted her to die. Leggat also denied slapping his wife after the Old Firm game but accepted that he may have caught her on the chin or chest while expressing himself in conversation. He said: "She did not fall into a bush - we were walking beside a bush." Leggat further stated that she was aware of AirTags as they had discussed the devices with her. Leggat claimed that the woman "prodded" him 10 times before her father arrived at their home in November 2024. He stated that he did not grab his wife and push her against the kitchen cabinet. The trial continues tomorrow before Sheriff Allan McKay.
