2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ First Look
Mercedes-AMG has a storied history, and in this century, the brand transcended from tuning Mercedes saloons and estates to dishing out fully-developed sportscars, which began with the Mercedes SLS AMG. The SLS was the first Mercedes-Benz automobile designed and built from scratch entirely by AMG and it debuted with a massive 6.3-litre V8. The SLS is etched in the history books of Mercedes-Benz, as being the first proper AMG, and it was followed up by the Mercedes-AMG GT. The car was available in India till five years ago, and now the second-generation has made it to our before, the GT is available only in the top-spec 63 guise, but here is a cherry on the top, India also gets the 63 Pro, a more hardcore, track weapon, as well, but Mercedes-Benz only had the 63 on display for us, and so that is what we are going to cover here. 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+: ExteriorDimensionally, the GT is 182mm longer, 45mm wider and 66mm taller, and this also uses a 70mm longer wheelbase. While it isbigger, the GT actually looks slightly smaller compared to the older car, courtesy of the curves I would reckon, giving it a bit of the SLK presence. At the front, it gets a massive slatted radiator grille, flanked by LED headlamps. Over to the sides, the long bonnet, cab backward design gives the GT its signature look. Under the nose sits an active aero element, that reduces the pressure below the car, hence helping with the downforce. advertisement At the rear, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 gets a nice sloping roofline, that also houses the glass window. The carbon fibre wing at the back is the real shhowstopper, it looks sleek, is functional all the way and lets the lurking 911s know that this isn't a 43 or a 55 AMG, this is the full-fat 63. An element that really sets this car apart from all other Mercs are the triple-pod LED taillamps, they look slick, and add to the character. Down below, is a massive all carbon diffuser, with quad-tip tailpipes, and these are slightly disappointing. For most of us, even if it doesn't sound loud, the exhaust needs to look loud, and these look a bit quiet, but I am sure the shape and size has to do with aero. The fixed carbon wing is beyond cool, and adds teeth to the GT 63 The GT uses a mix of aluminium, steel, magnesium and carbon-fibre reinforced plastics, have been used around the construction of the GT to keep it strong yet light.2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+: Interior Inside, customers are greeted with a familiar look, that is shared with the Mercedes-AMG SL. It gets a bit more carbon fibre and Alcantara, adding to the sportiness. The driver gets a 12.3-inch instrument panel, with AMG specific displays, and this being placed inside a binnacle does wonders to how one perceives this digital display. The centre is dominated by a 11.6-inch titled display, that runs MBUX. The rest of the cabin is pretty standard AMG, powered sport seats, Nappa leather, Burmester audio, ambient lighting is interesting is that because the GT is bigger, Mercedes has propped in two more seats. Although these do not qualify as seats because adults cannot fit in without a lot of hassle, so these are mainly for the children or groceries. Speaking of storage, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+ may be one of the most practical sportscar ever, it gets a sizeable 321-litre boot, that can fit in two-three luggage pieces and that for a car that packs in a V8 is a true compliment. This can even be expanded to over 600-litres with the rear seats dropped. advertisement2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+: SpecificationsPower comes from a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that delivers 585bhp and 800Nm of torque, sent to all the wheels via 4MATIC+ AWD. The GT 63 can sprint from 0 to 100kmph in 3.2 seconds, and to a top speed of 315kmph. The 9-speed DCT features a wet starter clutch, that has been mounted at the end of the V8. The GT 63 gets Active Ride Control Suspension, a 30mm front axle lift, and rear-wheel steering as standard. It gets many drive modes including the new Drift mode that sends power to the rear wheels, allowing for easier drifting manoeuvres. 2025 Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4MATIC+: PriceThe Mercedes-AMG GT63 is priced at Rs 3.00 crore (ex-showroom), while the more hardcore GT63 Pro is priced at Rs 3.65 crore (ex-showroom). At this price, the AG competes mainly with the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS priced at Rs 2.84 crore (ex-showroom).advertisementSubscribe to Auto Today Magazine- Ends

F1: Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli Handed Three-Place Grid Penalty At Silverstone After Austrian GP Mishap
Last Updated: Kimi Antonelli got a three-place grid penalty for the British Grand Prix after colliding with Max Verstappen in Austria. Antonelli apologized, and Verstappen accepted. Mercedes' Kimi Antonelli has been hit with a three-place grid penalty for the upcoming British Grand Prix after the stewards found him at fault for a collision with Max Verstappen on Lap 1 in Austria yesterday. After starting from P9 on the grid, Antonelli locked up the rear brakes of his Mercedes in Turn 3, causing him to hit Verstappen's Red Bull, which put both cars out of the race. Antonelli 💥 Verstappen: Here's the incident 🎥 #F1 #AustrianGP — Formula 1 (@F1) June 29, 2025 Both were summoned to the stewards over the incident, where the verdict was that Antonelli was 'fully at fault" for what happened, though it was also acknowledged that the move had been a 'result of the evasive action after locking up". Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli after the accident ☹️ — Laura 🦋 (@formuLau16) June 29, 2025 Given that the teenager was unable to continue in the race, the penalty decided upon was a three-place grid drop for the next race, that being Silverstone next weekend on July 4-6, as well as two penalty points on his licence. Speaking after his early exit from the race at the Red Bull Ring, Antonelli said: 'I just apologised straight away. I recognise it's all on me and I just feel sorry because I ended my race, but I ended his as well." 'I think I had a normal start, then going up to T3 I was just trying to maintain the position. I didn't want to do anything because I knew there was no space in front, but then when I hit the brake, I locked the rear, and I got caught by that. 'When I locked the rear, I lost the car, and then I had to first avoid the Racing Bull [of Lawson], but then I just couldn't stop the car. Unfortunately, I hit Max, and I just feel very sorry towards the team and him, of course. Verstappen was seemingly accepting of Antonelli's apology. Verstappen pai compreensivo leva de boa o acidente e revela que Antonelli foi até a Red Bull pedir desculpas'Acho que todos os pilotos já cometeram um erro assim" — Estagiário da F1 (@EstagiariodaF1) June 29, 2025 The World Champion, reflecting on the incident, said, 'Unlucky, I guess. It is what it is. I spoke quickly to Kimi, and he came with me to the hospitality. I think every driver has made a mistake like that. No one does that on purpose as well, so for me, that's not a big deal," said Verstappen post-race. First Published: June 30, 2025, 13:38 IST
