The veteran actor, who entertained nearly three generations and portrayed a myriad of distinctive roles on the silver screen, passed away on July 13, 2025. His close friends mourned his loss with tears, while discussions have since turned to the substantial assets he accumulated during his lifetime.
Kota Srinivasa Rao enjoyed a long and illustrious career, dazzling audiences with his extraordinary acting skills across diverse roles, be it as a comedian, villain, or character artist. He remains a towering figure in Tollywood, holding an indelible place in the Telugu film industry's history.
Before entering cinema, Kota Srinivasa Rao worked at the State Bank of India but chose to leave a promising job and a comfortable salary to pursue his passion for acting. Over a career spanning 45 years, he featured in more than 800 films, building a massive fan base.
His debut came with the film Pranam Kharidhu in 1978, and he steadily rose to prominence. Whatever the role, Kota Srinivasa Rao immersed himself fully, earning widespread acclaim.
Beyond villainous parts, he also delighted audiences with his comic, emotional, and serious performances. Notably, his collaborations with Babu Mohan in over 60 films showcased his impeccable comic timing. Films such as Aha! Naa Pellanta!! Kota Srinivasa Rao also dabbled in politics, serving as an MLA for Vijayawada from 1999 to 2004. His contributions to cinema earned him nine Nandi Awards and the prestigious Padma Shri.
Throughout his career, he demonstrated sound financial acumen, investing wisely in real estate. Reports suggest he owned several open plots around Hyderabad and a luxurious property in Hyderabad's Film Nagar, with his total movable and immovable assets estimated to be over Rs 100 crore.
The question of his heirs has now become a topic of much speculation. His only son, Anjaneya Prasad, tragically died in a road accident in June 2010. While Kota Srinivasa Rao is survived by two well-settled daughters, his son's two children, his grandsons, are widely expected to inherit his estate.

(Youtube/@FarahKhanK‬) Radhikka Madan's stunning Mumbai home As Farah steps into Radhikka's home with her cook Dilip, she's instantly taken aback. "Oh my god, oh my god, I have never seen such a home in Mumbai, that too inside a building! What is this?" she exclaims, visibly impressed. And she's not exaggerating. Radhikka's home is a far cry from your typical city apartment. "Look at this house, it is stunning," Farah says, wide-eyed. To that, Radhikka smiles and explains, 'I'm from Delhi, I'm used to big kothis.' The home opens up into a seamless living and dining area, bathed in natural light through floor-to-ceiling glass doors that frame a lush garden. A sleek black metal divider subtly separates the spaces without making them feel closed off. The dining area features mauve chairs and a minimal table set beneath a modern chandelier, while the adjoining living space stays true to clean lines and a neutral palette. What's the best part of her home The highlight of the home is the indoor water fountain integrated into a dark, textured stone wall. A modern metallic panel directs water into a small tiled pool below, where gentle jets create soothing upward streams. Outside, the garden is lush with greenery and features a shaded canopy. When Farah asks about its purpose, Radhikka replies, "Yoga during the day and parties at night."

Amid Vanga-Deepika Row, The Spirit Filmmaker Shares Update On His Film Led By Prabhas And Triptii Dimri

Deepika Padukone and Sandeep Reddy Vanga were set to collaborate for the first time in the upcoming film Spirit. However, within a few weeks, the deal fell through after the actress and the filmmaker reportedly had disagreements over remuneration and working hours. Now Vanaga has shared an update on he schedule of his upcoming film Spirit, led by Prabhas, and Triptii Dimri, who replaced Deepika Padukone. In a conversation with Vijay Deverakonda and filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanuri on the Sithara Entertainments channel on YouTube, Vanga shared that the production for Spirit is all set to roll in September. He added that there are going to be back-to-back schedules and continuous shooting once the project begins. Some reports also suggest that the music of the film has already been completed in collaboration with Harshavardhan Rameshwar. Sandeep Reddy Vanga On Spirit's Box-Office Collections Earlier in a chat with Baradwaj Rangan for the Galatta Plus YouTube channel, Sandeep Reddy Vanga had mentioned how he believes the "Producer is safe". He had said, "I think because of the kind of budget they are putting, I feel the producer is safe. With Prabhas and my combination, along with satellite and digital rights, we can recover our budget there itself. If everything goes well with the teaser, trailer and songs pre-release and whatever we do to grab the audience's attention, opening day would be Rs 150 crore. It's a trade calculation. It should be worldwide or pan-India. Easily, it could be Rs 150 crore in one day for a film like this if the material is good." How The Controversy Started Deepika Padukone walked out of Sandeep Reddy Vanga's much-anticipated film Spirit, after which Triptii Dimri was officially announced as the leading lady of the film. Deepika Padukone was tagged as "unprofessional" for her demands, which included working for a 6-hour shift with a newborn at home. The actress had also charged a massive fee of Rs 20 crore, along with a profit-sharing settlement and refused to deliver her dialogues in Telugu. Due to creative differences and "unreasonable" clauses, a replacement for Deepika Padukone was found. In A Nutshell Amid the wave of controversies that Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit found itself embroiled in, the filmmaker has finally shared an update on the release. Production is all set to roll in September.

Hari Hara Veera Mallu Implodes on Day 2: Pawan Kalyan delivers another box office dud

Telugu film Hari Hara Veera Mallu has imploded at the box office, collapsing on its second day after a dismal opening. The Pawan Kalyan starrer period epic grossed a pathetic Rs. 9.50 crore approx on Friday in India, an eye-watering 80 per cent drop from Rs. 49.50 crore it did on its opening day. The two-day running total of the film stands at Rs. 59 crore approx. Things are even worse overseas, where the first day itself was a washout and it barely had any collection on Friday, bringing in just USD 175K (Rs. 1.50 crore) for a USD 1.35 million (Rs. 11.50 crore) cume. The worldwide box office tally stands at Rs. 70 crore approx; it is quite likely to wrap up under Rs. 100 crore. Hari Hara Veera Mallu is yet another box office turkey delivered by Pawan Kalyan, who is arguably the biggest star in the Telugu states but hasn't delivered a box office winner in more than a decade. There was a Bheemla Nayak, which did decently well, but was unlucky to release in the circumstances it did and ended up from being a success. The film is also a setback for the Telugu film industry, which is having a horrific year at the box office, except for a couple of weeks of Sankranti Vashthunam during the holiday period. The last year was also a bad one in general, but there were four major hits spread across the year. This year has offered nothing. It is also turning out to be a nightmare of a year for Mega family heroes, with Ram Charan delivering one of the biggest disasters ever in Indian cinema earlier in January and now Pawan Kalyan has joined it. Next up is Vishwambara, starring Chiranjeevi, whose teaser met with such an underwhelming reception that its release had to be delayed. How that film is going to fare, one can only imagine.
