Geek Culture22-05-2025

Reaffirming its long-standing commitment to esports, ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has announced a suite of new gaming products at Computex 2025 to gear up the avid esports gamer, including the ROG Falcata 75% gaming keyboard, the ROG Harpe II Ace gaming mouse, the Strix Ace XG248 gaming monitor and more.
Designed for precision and flexibility, the ROG Falcata 75% split gaming keyboard features a modular design that can adapt to multiple gaming setups, featuring a hot-swappable ROG HFX V2 Magnetic Switch that can be customised for 0.1 to 3.5mm actuation and fine-tuned at 0.01mm intervals. Utilising the ROG Hall Sensor, gamers can stay at the top of their game with accurate input detection, reduced electrical noise and interference, and increased magnetic flux tolerance, all supplemented by additional customisation features like a multifunction wheel and button and a Rapid Trigger toggle for enhanced flexibility.
Developed alongside esports pros, the ROG Ace collection welcomes its newest addition to the family, the ROG Harpe II Ace gaming mouse. Developed in collaboration with esports icons like VALORANT's Demon1, the Harpe II Ace refines the iconic claw-grip shape of the ROG Harpe Ace Aim Lab Edition to better suit both claw and fingertip grips, with a next-generation shell weighing only 48 grams. It also harnesses the ROG SpeedNova 8K wireless technology to offer top-notch precision and reliability with an up to 8000Hz polling rate, with its 42,000-dpi ROG AimPoint Pro optical sensor with track-on-glass technology providing enhanced control.
Alongside the Harpe II Ace, the ROG Strix Ace XG248 gaming monitor also made its debut, setting a new standard for esports gaming monitors with its 24.1-inch FHD Super TN panel that boasts an overclocked 610Hz refresh rate and an ultra-low 0.8ms input lag – because frames win games.
In addition to its latest devices, ROG also introduced its Courser gaming chair, which features a 90 to 155 degrees Dynamic Synchronised Reclining system, 360-degree 4D armrests and 4D Adjustable Lumbar Support for comfortable, ergonomic play sessions even over an extended period of time. The ROG Destrier Core has also received an update, with the chair now available in Moonlight White for gamers who want an all-white setup. ROG Courser ROG Destrier Core
Finally, ROG has also announced a new personal brand partnership with Counter-Strike 2 legend ZywOo, who joins the family to test and develop new ROG Ace products, starting with his trusted ROG Falchion Ace HFX, further cementing the company's dedication to the esports gaming community.

Design & Build Your Own Gundam Gunpla Kit At Bandai Hobby Museum Japan This Sept

Bandai is opening a new Hobby museum in Shizuoka, Japan, on 2 September this year, allowing visitors to not only learn about the history of plastic model kits like Gunpla and how they're made, but also design their own Gundam model kits to take home. The Bandai Hobby Center Plamo Design Industrial Institute Museum (or BHC PDII Museum for short) will be opening at the Bandai Hobby Center building in Shizuoka, Japan, and will feature a 'Study Room' to learn about the history of plastic model kits, alongside windows to give visitors a first-hand look into the Gunpla making process, offering them a glimpse of the kits being made and packaged in the factory. Additionally, the museum experience will also include an interactive Laboratory Area, where visitors can try their hands at creating their own customised Gunpla kits, from choosing the colours and sizes of each piece of their Gundam creations using a screen, to laying out the pieces on their plastic runners and even designing their Gunpla's packaging. Museum staff will then handle the injection moulding process for visitors to bring home their unique creations. What's more, each creation will be graded, and Bandai Spirits employees will select the top three kits each month for an award. Visits to the BHC PDII Museum will require advanced reservation, with a ticket lottery beginning on 2 June due to the expected high demand. Non-Japanese speakers don't have to worry either, as all museum displays and guidance will also be available in English. The BHC PDII Museum will open at the Bandai Hobby Center building in Shizuoka, Japan, on 2 September 2025. More information can be found on the museum's official website. 'Death Stranding' Anime In The Works From Hideo Kojima

It looks like Hideo Kojima is keeping busy with his Death Stranding franchise, as apart from a sequel and a live-action A24 film, the eccentric director has confirmed that an anime adaptation of the walking simulator is also in the works. Speaking to Vogue Japan, Kojima spoke on the upcoming live-action flick, a project in collaboration with A24 that recently welcomed A Quiet Place: Day One director Michael Sarnoski. In his closing remarks, he casually confirmed the existence of a Death Stranding anime adaptation that is currently in development. 'When it comes to film adaptations of games, there have been recent films like The Last of Us that keep the plot of the original intact, and films like The Super Mario Bros. Movie that are more like a service to game fans. Each of these works has its own merits, but as a film lover, I want to pursue expression as a film.' Kojima said in a translated transcript by VGC, 'I am aiming to make Death Stranding in a way that can only be done as a film, and that will win awards at the Cannes Film Festival and the Venice Film Festival. In fact, we are also currently working on an anime adaptation.' Although this was just a brief confirmation, and no further details on the anime project's production studio were confirmed, it would be interesting to see how Kojima would adapt the Death Stranding universe into the anime space. Admittedly, the weird and sometimes confusing nature of the game's plot makes it quite the perfect fit for an anime, opening up the opportunity to expand upon its lore the same way Studio Trigger adapted CD Projekt's hit RPG with 2022's Cyberpunk: Edgerunners . On the gaming front, fans can look forward to the continuation of the franchise relatively soon, as the much-anticipated sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach , is due out on 26 June 2025, exclusively on the PS5. 'The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt' Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary, Surpasses 60 Million Sales

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has hit an incredible milestone 10 years after its launch, with CD Projekt announcing that the beloved role-playing game (RPG) has surpassed 60 million copies sold worldwide. 'Without a doubt, the third part of Geralt's adventures marks a pivotal point in our history. The game earned hundreds of awards and solidified our studio's standing, but more importantly, it brought untold hours of adventures and emotions to millions of gamers the world over.' said joint CEO of CD Projekt Adam Badowski in a statement, 'I am proud to announce that since its release The Witcher 3 has sold over 60 million copies, securing a place among the bestselling video games in all history, and motivating us to carry on with intensive work on the next trilogy set in this universe.' It is to be noted that the latest 60 million figure only includes sales of the base game and its GOTY or complete editions, and does not factor in individual sales for its two expansion packs, Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine . With this new milestone, The Witcher 3 is one step closer to overtaking Bethesda's The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim , which reached the same 60 million sales mark in June 2023. Last year, the developer announced a Witcher 3 concert tour spanning multiple countries to celebrate the anniversary, with tickets now available on its official website for performances across North America and Europe, leading up to November this year, with more locations and dates to be announced closer to 2026. As The Witcher 3 celebrates its incredible success, CD Projekt is already looking towards the future, with its upcoming sequel, The Witcher 4 , currently in full production with an estimated release window of 2027, leading to the possibility that it might be released for next-generation consoles.
