Outstanding Teacher Winners Announced!
NASHVILLE, TN / ACCESS Newswire / May 6, 2025 / Ponce Law is proud to announce the winners of this year's Outstanding Teacher Contest. For seven years, teachers from all over Tennessee have been honored for making a difference in the lives of others by inspiring students, sharing knowledge, and developing their love of learning. Each April, the Outstanding Teacher Contest sponsored by Ponce Law allows community members to vote online for their favorite teacher for 3 weeks.
This year, there were exactly 2,000 votes, and 300 individual teachers were chosen by the nominators as Outstanding Teachers. All 300 teachers will receive Outstanding Teacher Certificates and the top 50 with the most votes will receive a swag bag full of goodies from Ponce Law.
This year, the firm also added a separate division for Pre-K, recognizing that students who learn to love school and have a desire to learn at an early stage start their education at an advantage. Chelsea Moore from Bransford Early Learning Center is the winner for the 2025 Top Pre-K Teacher and recipient of $250.
Ponce Law gives monetary awards to the top ten teachers. The 1st through 5th place winners will receive $500 each and the 6th through 10th place winners will receive $100 each. Additionally, the school with the most cumulative votes for all its teachers will receive $1,000.
In first place with 200 votes is Jeff Gregory of Goodlettsville Elementary.
2nd place is Leslie Fisher of Hendersonville High School.
3rd place is Teresa Fleak of Goodlettsville Elementary.
4th place is Elizabeth Menchaca of Pennington Elementary.
5th place is Dr. Giovanna Diffenback of Overbrook Catholic High.
6th place is Cecilia Gover of Tusculum Elementary School.

8th place is Lucas Hilliard of White House High School
9th place is Abby Sanders of Gallatin High School.
10th place winner is Danielle Villafana of White House High School.
The Pre-K winner and our top 10 winners will all be invited for a special reception at Ponce Law to celebrate their win.
The award for top school is usually one school with the most votes, but this competition's second-place school for votes had more teachers nominated than any other school. Ponce Law decided to award both schools. The first-place school, Goodlettsville Elementary School in Goodlettsville, TN will receive $1,000, and the second-place school, White House High School in White House, TN will be awarded $500. Congratulations to both schools.

WJZ staff takes part in Volunteer Day in South Baltimore community
Volunteers from WJZ stepped inside Curtis Bay Elementary School and picked up gardening tools right next door at the Filbert Street Garden on Wednesday. WJZ partnered with United Way of Central Maryland for Volunteer Day. "They're putting together summer STEM kits for the kids to take home," said Beth Littrell, the associate vice president of Community engagement and volunteerism with United Way of Central Maryland. "Helping to advance their mathematics and science skills," said Tanya Black, WJZ's Vice President of News. Giving back to the students The team helped students get ready for the summer. "It's our 100th anniversary," Littrell said. "So, they are packing up 100 items, and kids are going to use those 100 items to make something that can help the community in the next 100 years." Volunteers filled each backpack with pipe cleaners, rubber bands, and other items that will be given to roughly 450 students. Beautifying a Baltimore community garden As some volunteers worked inside, another group worked to beautify the Filbert Street Community Garden. The garden holds chickens, turkeys, and goats. It's a space that's meant to educate the community while also feeding residents living in a food desert. Volunteers removed hay, spread manure, and fed chickens. Jen Huie, an animal caretaker with the community garden, said this work lightened the load for those who work at the garden that serves about 1,000 people each month. "The labor you're providing would take our stewards and our animal husbandry coordinator many, many hours to accomplish," Huie said. Work and some play When the work was done, volunteers had some fun with students and participated in a soccer game with 4th and 5th graders. They connected with students and staff, hoping to give them a different meaning to being 'on your corner.' "We have to cover these communities every single day," Black said. "That's our job, right. That's our responsibility to this community. But then showing up and doing this, that's not a part of it, but for us it is, and it's from the heart."

Think You Clean Your Bathroom Enough? This Guide Exposes the Truth
There's just something about a clean home that is so satisfying. However, between juggling work, life, adulting and chores, knowing which room to tackle first can be a chore in itself. One of the rooms you should be sure to clean often is the bathroom; trust me, you use it every day. Cleaning is not the most exciting thing to do, but your bathroom and other parts of your home need to be kept tidy to minimize germs and bacteria. So, whether your bathroom is overdue for a deep clean or you're curious about how often to clean it, read on. It doesn't matter if you start with scrubbing your toilet or degunking your shower head, this guide makes freshening up your restroom simple and convenient. Read more: 15 Filthy Spots That Survived Your Spring Cleaning Rampage, According to an Expert 8 bathroom items you should clean regularly Bathroom rug Once a week, toss the bathroom rug in the washer. Wash it on the gentle cycle in warm water and let it air dry (especially if it has a no-slip grip on the back) before putting it back in place. If you're unsure, always follow the washing instructions on the tag. Toilet David Watsky/CNET If you live alone, you can probably get by cleaning the toilet every few days. If you have kids, the rules change. The outside, handle and seat should get a once-a-day wipedown with an antibacterial cleaner or wipe. Most families can get by with cleaning the bowl once a week, particularly if you use this toilet tank tip. If you have tough stains or gunk in your toilet bowl, we advise pouring Coke (yes, the soda) into a spray bottle and then saturating the stain with the drink. Let it sit for a few hours. You can then easily scrub away the stain with a toilet brush. Shower curtain Once a month, you should take down your fabric or plastic shower curtain and throw it in the wash. Here are five tips for cleaning your shower curtain in the washing machine. Shower and tub You only need to clean your shower and tub once a week, but if you have a glass shower door, it needs a little more attention. To prevent the build-up of soap scum and keep the glass looking spotless, use a squeegee to wipe away water after every shower. These few seconds can save you from scrubbing at the end of the week. Bath towels Josh Miller/CNET My family has had this debate for years. How often should you wash bath towels? Well, it depends. Every three to four uses is a good rule of thumb, but there are some conditions where a towel should be washed after one use. Here's how to know when to wash your towels. Sink The germs from your hands collect on the sink knobs and in the sink bowl when you wash your hands. So, even if you live alone, the sink needs a good wipe down every day with an all-purpose cleaner or antibacterial cleaning wipe. Mirror Like the sink, the mirror needs a daily wipe down to remove lint, dust and toothpaste specks. Simply wipe it down with a microfiber cloth after you step out of the bath or shower. Hair dryer Yes, even your hair dryer needs a proper cleaning schedule to prevent it from overheating. Here's a simple way to clean a hair dryer in just a few minutes. More cleaning tips and tricks
