There were no seeded players in action Monday at the tournament in which top-ranked Jannik Sinner, No. 2 Carlos Alcaraz, No. 5 Jack Draper and No. 6 Novak Djokovic had already withdrawn.
Among the notable results, Australian qualifier Tristan Schoolkate beat rising Brazilian teenage star Joao Fonseca 7-6 (5), 6-4; and American Mackenzie McDonald topped Belgium's David Goffin 6-4, 6-4.

Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko upsets top-seeded Coco Gauff to reach Montreal quarterfinals
MONTREAL: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko upset top-seeded Coco Gauff 6-1, 6-4 on Saturday night to reach the National Bank Open quarterfinals. "Your support was incredible," Mboko told the crowd in French after a chorus of "Olé, Olé, Olé!" chants echoed around the venue. "I'm really happy to win today. .. It's incredible. I'm so happy to beat such a great champion." Gauff dropped to 2-3 since winning the French Open. She followed the major victory with opening losses in Berlin and Wimbledon, then overcame double-fault problems to win two three-set matches in Montreal. Gauff had five double-faults Saturday after having 23 in her opener against Danielle Collins and 14 against Veronika Kudermetova. "She's playing high-level tennis." Gauff said. "I think that's what showed today. I think she was the better player." The 18-year-old Mboko, ranked 85th in the world, finished off the 21-year-old Gauff — who had 24 unforced errors — in 1 hour, 2 minutes. "When I was up 5-4, the crowd started cheering even louder, and everything got super noisy," Mboko said. "I used that as more fuel for myself and to pump myself up a little bit more. I just used the crowd to my advantage as much as I could." Mboko will face Jessica Bouzas Maneiro of Spain, a 7-5, 6-1, 6-2 winner over Lin Zhu of China in a rain-interrupted match that ended just before midnight. In Rome in May, Gauff rallied to beat Mboko 3-6, 6-2, 6-1. "I was actually really thinking about it a lot during the match," Mboko said. "I had flashbacks to when I played her in Rome a little bit. I just remember when she came out playing even better and stepped it up a bit better. Wanted to step my game up a little bit more and make sure I matched whatever she was producing, and I wanted to stay right there with her." Top-seeded Alexander Zverev set up a Canadian Open 2025 quarterfinal against defending champion Alexei Popyrin after his fourth-round opponent, Francisco Cerundolo, was forced to retire with an abdominal injury on Saturday. Germany's Zverev secured a 6-4, 1-0 victory, with Argentina's Cerundolo taking a medical timeout after the fifth game and finally calling a halt after less than an hour on court. Australia's Popyrin won his ninth straight match in Canada, beating ninth seed Holger Rune 4-6, 6-2, 6-3. The 26th-ranked Aussie profitted from nearly 40 unforced errors from his Danish opponent, who has been taking occasional advice from Andre Agassi. With Popyrin on the horizon, Zverev said he was headed back to the practice court after his abbreviated victory, but he paid tribute to Cerundolo first. 'He's an incredible player, we have a close personal relationship. I know about abdominal injuries,' Zverev said of Cerundolo. 'You can't serve or accelerate on the forehand. Khachanov topples Ruud Karen Khachanov reached his second straight prestige quarterfinal, ambushing eighth seed Casper Ruud 6-4, 7-5 to continue his ATP hot streak. Khachanov next faces Alex Michelsen, who claimed his first Masters last-eight place with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over fellow American and good friend Learner Tien. Khachanov was playing his first tournament since reaching the Wimbledon quarterfinals last month. The world number 16 reeled off 18 straight points on serve over the first and second sets and produced love games in his final two service games of the match. Norway's Ruud, playing his second event after skipping Wimbledon because of injury, was never able to gain control, although he rallied from 4-2 down in the second set to level at 4-4 before Khachanov got back on track. 'I had nothing to complain about until this point,' Khachanov said. 'I tried to control play and my game plan was working, especially with the first serves. It became difficult, but I'm super-glad I was able to put everything together at the end and finish the match,' he added. Michelsen took full advantage of 42 unforced errors from Tien to close out their match in 81 minutes. 'It feels really good,' the 20-year-old winner said. 'It's uncharted territory from now on. I'm super-happy to be in the quarters.'
