"Sports Before Iftar" launches in 50 locations across Sharjah
Widespread Community Participation The event will take place across 50 locations in coordination with 10 sports and specialised clubs, as well as several fitness centers. It aims to engage at least 15,000 participants, offering monetary prizes to winners who meet the set criteria. Participants will be evaluated based on physical progress, fitness levels, sportsmanship, adherence to trainers' instructions, and teamwork. Encouraging a Healthy Lifestyle Dr. Yasser Omar Al Doukhi, Director of Sports and Community Events at the Sharjah Sports Council, emphasi s ed that preparations began early to ensure the event's success. He noted that this annual initiative remains a key part of the council's agenda, given its significant health benefits and strong community engagement. Dr. Al Doukhi thanked the participating clubs for their cooperation and highlighted that prizes will serve as motivation for participants. He encouraged all community members to join the event at their nearest location, wishing them a healthy and active Ramadan.

Sharjah beats Egypt's Smouha in Arab Basketball Championship
Sharjah 24: The Sharjah Sports Club men's basketball team achieved its first victory in the second round of the 36th edition of the Arab Basketball Championship, against the Egyptian Smouha team with a score of (81-73), at the Borg El Arab Stadium Hall in Alexandria. The match witnessed Sharjah's superiority over 3 periods, except for the first period in which Smouha led with a score of (21-14), while Sharjah dominated the second, third and fourth periods with scores of (21-17), (23-17) and (23-18). Sharjah will meet Al Batayeh, on Friday, in the third round at 5 pm, then it will meet the championship's organising team, Al Ittihad Alexandria of Egypt, in the fourth round next Sunday, before concluding the group stage against Kazma of Kuwait on October 7. This edition, in which 12 teams participate, will be played from October 1 to 12 in 4 stages, starting with the group stage in a single-round league system to determine the ranking, then the quarter-finals in a knockout system, as well as the semi-finals and the final. Sharjah, along with Al Wahda and Al Batayeh, will participate as representatives of the country in the 36th Arab Basketball Championship, hosted by the Egyptian club Al Ittihad Alexandria. Sharjah Club is the only Emirati team that has previously won the title in 2011 in the 24th edition of the competition hosted by Abu Dhabi.
