Jamshedpur FC, Chennaiyin Fc & Kerala Blasters FC confirm new departures

Jamshedpur, July 4 (UNI) Jamshedpur FC have officially announced the departure of Spanish striker Javier Siverio.
The 27-year-old initially joined the Men of Steel on loan in January 2024, shortly after lifting the Kalinga Super Cup with East Bengal FC. His move was made permanent ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.
After a quiet spell at East Bengal FC, Siverio found his rhythm again at Jamshedpur FC, netting three goals in eight league appearances in his initial half-season.
He continued that form into the next season, scoring seven goals in 26 appearances while forming a solid strike partnership with Jordan Murray. His contributions helped Jamshedpur FC reach the semi-finals of the ISL 2024-25.
Siverio also played a key role in their Kalinga Super Cup 2025 run, where they finished as runners-up after a defeat to FC Goa in the final.
Chennaiyin FC have confirmed that forward Kiyan Nassiri will be leaving the club. Nassiri joined from Mohun Bagan Super Giant last season after three years in Kolkata but was unable to make the desired impact with the Marina Machans.
He struggled for game time at his new club, managing only 500 minutes across 15 ISL appearances, with one assist to his name, which came in their 3-0 away win against East Bengal FC.
Another ISL side, Kerala Blasters FC, have confirmed the departure of midfielder Saurav Mandal. He had joined the club on a three-year deal in 2022 from Churchill Brothers.
He made just 21 ISL appearances in three seasons, with all three of his assists coming in the first two campaigns.
The midfielder did not play a single minute in the league last season and was loaned out to I-League side Gokulam Kerala FC during the winter transfer window.

Five Talking Points As Spain's La Liga Begins

With Real Madrid aiming to wrestle the Spanish title back from champions Barcelona, AFP Sport looks at five talking points as the La Liga season begins on Friday. Alonso's challenge Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid were dismantled on a regular basis by rivals Barcelona last season, who triumphed in all four meetings between the sides as well as winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. The Italian departed, to be replaced by former Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso, who has work on his hands to help revive them despite a squad boasting numerous star names including Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior. Madrid were thrashed 4-0 by Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup semi-finals and it remains to be seen how playing in the competition will impact squad fatigue and preparation for the new season. Defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen give Alonso more options than Ancelotti had last season, along with Dani Carvajal's return from a long-term knee injury. However Madrid could be short in midfield after Luka Modric's departure and with Jude Bellingham set to be out until October after shoulder surgery. Can Yamal maintain level? Barcelona excelled in attack last season and much of that was down to skilful teenage star Lamine Yamal. The Spain international turned 18 in July and has already made over 100 appearances for the club, becoming the Catalans' key player going forward. If Flick's side are to defend their title and push on for more in the Champions League, as they prepare to return to their rebuilt Camp Nou stadium, the winger maintaining his world-class level is essential. Yamal took former Barca all-time great Lionel Messi's number 10 shirt in July and insists he is forging his own path at the club. After helping his country triumph at Euro 2024, Yamal will also have his eye on the 2026 World Cup next summer. If new arrival Marcus Rashford hits the ground running coach Hansi Flick may be able to give Yamal the occasional rest, moving Raphinha over to the right. Atletico reshuffle After a poor end to the previous campaign and a surprise group stage Club World Cup elimination, Diego Simeone's Atletico took action this summer. They brought in playmaker Alex Baena from Villarreal and Real Betis' Johnny Cardoso to provide new midfield impetus, as well as several other new recruits. Long-time Atletico players Angel Correa, Rodrigo De Paul, Saul Niguez depart, among others. Despite the strength of their squad and Simeone's reputation as one of the best coaches in the world -- and the highest paid in Europe -- Atletico have won just three trophies in the last decade, La Liga in 2021 and both the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup in 2018. Questions over whether Simeone has taken them as far as he can will quickly rear up if things start to go wrong. Cazorla's Oviedo Spanish midfield maestro Santi Cazorla penned a new one-year deal with Real Oviedo for their return to Spain's top flight after a 24-year absence. It is a miraculous finale for the 40-year-old -- a member of the Spain side that won the 2008 and 2012 Euro titles -- who came close to losing his right leg due to his ankle bone going soft when he was at Arsenal. Former Arsenal playmaker Cazorla had a key role in the team's rise to La Liga, when he re-joined them he initially offered to play for nothing but was obliged under the rules to accept the minimum wage, and in their first match they take on his former side Villarreal. Whether he will be able to have as much of an impact this season is debatable but Cazorla will get a fine send-off at grounds around the country when Oviedo hit the road. Fresh starts Real Sociedad and Sevilla have made new managerial appointments as they try to bounce back from poor 2024-25 campaigns. After seven years at the helm Real's Imanol Alguacil stepped down and has been replaced by reserve team coach Sergio Francisco. Meanwhile Matias Almeyda takes over at a Sevilla side which finished 17th last season and sacked coach Francesco Garcia Pimienta in April. Both clubs have been among the strongest in Spain over the past decade but have fallen from grace. Real Sociedad in particular will have to find a way to move forward after the departure of key midfielder Martin Zubimendi to Arsenal.

Cristiano Ronaldo's Al-Nassr To Sideline Star Amidst 2026 World Cup Dispute: Report

Last Updated: Al Nassr are refusing to release Spanish centre-back Aymeric Laporte amidst a dispute affecting his 2026 World Cup hopes. Al Nassr is ready to 'cage' star Spanish centre-back Aymeric Laporte because of a bitter dispute that can affect his 2026 World Cup aspirations, with the team not willing to release him even when Laporte wants to leave, according to a report. Al Nassr are leaving no stone unturned to build a team that can win titles. Laporte, who joined Al Nassr from Manchester City for a reported fee of £23.6 million, saw his match time reduced last season. Reports emerged in July suggesting that Laporte wasn't in new coach Jorge Jesus' plans and was offered an opportunity to return to Spain after Athletic Club approached Al Nassr. According to Fabrizio Romano, Athletic Club and the Saudi team are yet to reach an agreement for Laporte, even though he has agreed on personal terms with the former. 'No agreement so far between Athletic Club and Al Nassr for Aymeric Laporte. The initial proposal was rejected days ago by Al Nassr and no fresh bid has been sent from Bilbao so far," Romano tweeted on Thursday. The aforementioned claim was supported by Marca, which said that Laporte's departure from Al Nassr remains at a standstill. According to reports, the team is now pressuring to keep Laporte caged for a year, as they are considering registering him just for the AFC Champions League 2 and not in the other events. Laporte's last game was on May 26 against Al Fateh in the Saudi Pro League and his contract expires only in June next year. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. La Liga moves closer to holding regular-season game in Miami, between Villarreal and Barcelona

FC Barcelona's Robert Lewandowski, left, celebrates with his teammate Gerard Martin after scoring a goal during a friendly soccer match between FC Barcelona and Daegu FC at the Daegu Stadium in Daegu, South Korea, Monday, Aug. 4, 2025. (Kim Hyun-tea/Yonhap via AP) The Spanish league is closer to playing its first-ever regular-season game in the United States. The Spanish football federation (RFEF) on Monday approved a request for the match between Villarreal and Barcelona to be played in Miami on December 20. The federation will now seek approval from football's governing bodies UEFA and FIFA. The 17th-round match in La Liga would be played at the Hard Rock Stadium. The league first tried to stage a match in the US in 2018, with a game between Barcelona and Girona, but the idea was dismissed after criticism from some players, fans and clubs. Its subsequent attempts to play there also failed. Staging a match abroad has been part of the league's goal of promoting football and its brand in other countries. The first attempt for a league match in the US came after the league signed a long-term partnership with sports and entertainment group Relevent Sports, which is part of Stephen Ross' portfolio of companies including Hard Rock Stadium, the Miami Dolphins, the Formula One's Miami Grand Prix and the Miami Open tennis tournament. FIFA moved last year toward ending decades of football tradition by ordering a review of its policy that blocks domestic league games being played in other countries. Some fan groups in Spain and the country's players association on Monday expressed their disapproval of the plan to move the match thousands of miles (kilometers) away. It has become routine, though, for United States pro sports leagues to stage games in Europe, Asia and South America that help build their brands and fan bases. The Spanish league offered compensation packages for Girona fans when it tried to take its home match against Barcelona to the US in 2018. Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4.
