Man held after video shows car intentionally crashing into motorcyclist

According to police, the motorcyclist hit the car's windscreen with his helmet and the driver then rammed the victim until his motorcycle was dragged under the car.
SHAH ALAM : Police have arrested a man to assist in investigations into a case of intentionally crashing into a motorcyclist at Jalan Dato Yusof Shahbudin 28, Bandar Sentosa in Klang yesterday.
Klang Selatan police chief Ramli Kasa said the 37-year-old man, who was detained at 1.15am today in Klang, has a criminal record, with four previous cases.
'We have obtained a four-day remand order for the suspect. We are investigating him under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder and hope to refer the case to the deputy public prosecutor soon,' he said in a statement today.
He added that police received a call from the public at 10.20pm yesterday notifying them of an argument involving a car driver and a motorcyclist before the driver allegedly rammed his vehicle into the motorcyclist.
He said that during the incident, the 50-year-old man riding the motorcycle was just trying to avoid some bumps on the road but his action resulted in the driver assuming that he (the victim) was riding recklessly.
'The suspect then honked at the motorcyclist, following which the motorcyclist chased after the driver and an argument broke out.
'During the argument, the motorcyclist hit the car's windscreen with his helmet and the driver then rammed the victim until his motorcycle was dragged under the car,' he said.
Ramli said the suspect then left the scene while the victim was taken to the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) in Klang.
'The victim suffered injuries to both legs and shoulders while his left shoulder joint was dislocated. He is in a stable condition,' he said while urging the public not to share the video clip of the incident so that it does not cause concern to the community.
He was referrring to video clips which went viral on social media today, showing a man being hit by a red Bezza car.

Man dies after being stabbed in front of his family home in Seremban

SEREMBAN: A man who had been engaged for just two weeks was fatally stabbed in front of his family home in Taman Sri Pagi. In the incident at 6.50pm, Muhammad Amirul Rasyid Mohd Niza, 28, was stabbed in the chest by a 31-year-old man. Tragically, the single father had planned to shop for his wedding gifts on the night of the incident. The victim's younger brother, Muhammad Amirul Hakim, 27, told Sinar Harian that he was chatting with the deceased outside their house when a car stopped nearby. "I thought it was my brother's friend. But a man got out of the car, approached us, and without saying anything, stabbed my brother in the chest. "I immediately screamed and held onto the suspect to prevent him from escaping while cradling my blood-soaked brother," he said. He added that the suspect attempted to flee but was apprehended by residents who tied him up with a rope," he said, adding that the victim was still alive at that point. "There was so much blood, and my mother fainted upon seeing my brother's condition. At the time of the incident, 10 of my other siblings were at home. What happened was a huge shock to our family because it occurred so suddenly," he said. The deceased had just returned home after taking his only child out for a walk. Since separating from his wife a few years ago, the deceased's child had been cared for by the family. "The deceased worked at a restaurant and stayed at a worker's hostel in Taman Lavender Height, Senawang. He had been engaged for two weeks and planned to marry this year. "Last night, he was supposed to buy his wedding gifts," he said. Muhammad Amirul Hakim stated that he and his family did not know the suspect and were unsure of the motive behind the incident. "To my knowledge, the deceased had no enemies. I was very close to him, and usually, wherever he went, we would go together," he said. The body of the deceased arrived at Surau Taman Sri Pagi for prayers at 2.48pm before being buried at the Islamic Cemetery in Senawang, Forest Height. Previously, Seremban District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din stated that initial investigations revealed the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding between the suspect and the victim. "The suspect allegedly stabbed the victim in the chest with a knife, causing the victim to die at the scene. A medical officer from Hospital Tuanku Jaafar who arrived at the location confirmed the victim's death at 7.28pm," he said. He added that the suspect was apprehended with the help of the public, and the knife used was seized. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, and the suspect is remanded until August 18. "The exact motive behind the incident is still under investigation, and the public with relevant information is urged to come forward to assist in the investigation," he said.

Four jailed for aiding organised crime group

Leong (left) escorted to a High Court room on Tuesday. KOTA KINABALU (Aug 12): Four individuals were sentenced by a High Court here on Tuesday to three and a half years' imprisonment for separate charges of assisting an organised crime group in committing a serious offence in order to obtain a material benefit. Josepin J. Langkan, 38, Nasir Abdul Rasid, 60, Vireonis Jonok, 35, and Leong Hin Ping, 62, pleaded guilty before Justice Datuk Duncan Sikodol to their alternative charges under Section 130W of the Penal Code. The offence carries a jail term of up to 10 years, upon conviction. They admitted to assist the organised crime group in furthering its interests between April 26 and July 10, 2024, at the MBSB Bank branch here. Meanwhile, Mazlani Jenuary, 53, who had also pleaded guilty to a similar alternative charge, will be sentenced on September 22. His sentencing was put off following a request by his counsel. The prosecution had offered these alternative charges against them following the acceptance of their representation to the deputy public prosecutor's office. The court heard that Josepin, Nasir, Vireonis and Leong were arrested at separate locations between June 28 and July 12, 2024. In mitigation, their lawyers, among others prayed for a lenient sentence on the grounds that all their clients were first offenders and they had regretted with what they had done. Counsel Luke Ressa Balang had submitted that Vireonis is suffering from Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) disease and argued that a lengthy jail sentence would seriously affect his health. In reply, the prosecution urged the court to impose a deterrent sentence and to take into account public interest and the seriousness of the offence. Besides Luke, Josepin, Leong and Vireonis were also represented by counsel Hairul Vaiyron Othman, while Nasir was represented by counsel Dominic Chew. On June 13, three of the 10 individuals charged with a similar offence were sentenced to five years' imprisonment by the same court.
