While going to the office, Buffett stops by McDonald's and orders one of three items: two sausage patties, a sausage, egg and cheese or a bacon, egg and cheese. And it never costs more than $3.17. Warren Buffett has announced he will retire as chief executive of Berkshire Hathaway at the end of the year. The veteran investor, known as the Oracle of Omaha, told his company's annual meeting he would hand over the reins to Vice-Chairman Greg Abel.
ADVERTISEMENT "I think the time has arrived where Greg should become the chief executive of the company at year end," the 94-year-old Buffet said. ADVERTISEMENT During Berkshire Hathaway's annual shareholder meeting last weekend, Buffett defended his junk-food diet and distaste for exercise. "For 94 years, I've been able to drink what I want, do what I want, and I've defied all the predictions of what should've happened to me...Charlie (Munger) and I never really exercised all that much. We were carefully preserving ourselves," he said.Seated with two cans of Coca-Cola and a box of See's Candies on the table in front of him, the billionaire investor reflected on life, health, and happiness. "Bad things do happen," he said, "but overall, life has been pretty good."
ADVERTISEMENT Buffett likes steaks and enjoys candies from See's, which Berkshire owns. He estimates that one-fourth of his calories come from Coca-Cola, a longtime Berkshire investment, according to a report in Reuters. Buffett's daily routine has remained unchanged even in his 90s. ADVERTISEMENT Warren Buffett acknowledged that neither he nor his late business partner, Charlie Munger, were ever enthusiastic about physical fitness. Speaking at the annual shareholder meeting, he reflected on how they largely avoided regular exercise throughout their lives. We preserved ourselves,' he said with a smile, implying that steering clear of intense physical activity may have contributed to their lasting physical stability. Buffett pointed to the wear and tear experienced by professional athletes as a cautionary example, suggesting that rigorous exercise can sometimes do more harm than good.

What's even more interesting is that his McDonald's breakfast is based on the stock market's performance, his documentary 'Becoming Warren Buffett' reveals. If the market is in green, he might splurge on a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit. And if down, he opts for the modest two-sausage patty order, paid for in exact change, his wife puts in the car.'I tell my wife, as I shave in the morning, I say, 'Either $2.61, $2.95 or $3.17.' And she puts that amount in the little cup by me here [in the car],' he explains in the HBO documentary, 'Becoming Warren Buffett.'Each amount corresponds to one of his three go-to breakfast items.'When I'm not feeling quite so prosperous, I might go with the $2.61, which is two sausage patties, and then I put them together and pour myself a Coke,' he told the documentary director Peter Kunhardt in the McDonald's drive-through. '$3.17 is a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit, but the market's down this morning, so I'll pass up the $3.17 and go with the $2.95.'

Trump Urged Ergen, Carr to Cut a Deal on EchoStar Spectrum

President Donald Trump has intervened to push EchoStar Corp. and Federal Communications Commission Chairman Brendan Carr to resolve a dispute over the satellite communications company's valuable spectrum licenses. The FCC in May launched an investigation into whether EchoStar was meeting certain obligations for its wireless and satellite spectrum rights. In response, EchoStar has been skipping bond coupon payments and is considering filing for bankruptcy. The company has said the FCC's threats have 'effectively frozen our ability to make decisions' about its 5G network buildout. After multiple rebuffed attempts to speak directly to Carr, EchoStar President Charlie Ergen finally sat down with the chairman late Wednesday afternoon in the FCC's Washington headquarters, according to people familiar with the meetings. Carr told Ergen that EchoStar needs to start selling some of its spectrum licenses, the people said, asking not to be identified discussing private information. Otherwise, Carr told Ergen, the company risks losing them. The next day, Ergen met with Trump at the White House to make his case, the people said. The president said he didn't want a major American company to go bankrupt, as it would create uncertainties for other businesses. In the midst of the conversation, Trump telephoned Carr, who came to the Oval Office and joined the meeting. The discussions included a brief exchange about Ergen's political donations and whether he gave to both Republican and Democrat candidates, some of the people said. At one point Trump also called Newsmax Inc. founder Chris Ruddy to ask if EchoStar's DISH satellite TV service carried conservative news outlets like his, according to people familiar with the matter. 'Newsmax has had a very positive relationship with the DISH network and we appreciate them giving diverse voices, including us, the ability to reach their subscribers,' Ruddy said in a statement, when asked for comment about the meeting. The meeting concluded with the president encouraging Carr and Ergen to work together and reach some kind of deal, the people said. EchoStar declined to comment. Carr and representatives for his office didn't respond to multiple requests for comment. The White House didn't immediately respond to a request to comment on the specifics of the meeting between Ergen and the President. The FCC initially blessed EchoStar's ambition to become a fourth national wireless carrier, using pioneering technology that lets more companies participate in the buildout of the network. But in a letter sent to Ergen last month, Carr questioned whether EchoStar has adequately made use of its spectrum licenses, including a portion of the airwaves that has been long coveted by Elon Musk's satellite communications company SpaceX. EchoStar owns the Dish Network pay-TV brand and the Boost Mobile wireless service. It has spent billions of dollars and several years trying to build a nationwide communications network to compete with AT&T Inc., Verizon Communications Inc. and T-Mobile US Inc. But Carr has suggested EchoStar is moving too slowly and not achieving agreed upon targets for coverage, leading to 'spectrum warehousing,' or unused portions of spectrum. Starlink has publicly pointed to what it characterizes as EchoStar's wasted bandwidth to argue for regulatory action. In the worst-case scenario for EchoStar, the FCC could find that it has not met obligations to use its spectrum licenses and reclaim at least some of them. Former FCC Commissioner Nathan Simington, a Republican who recently left the agency, wrote in an opinion piece that Carr should drop the probes. With assistance from Hannah Miller. Ex-finance company employee arrested for ₹11 lakh loan scam

Jaipur: The city police Friday arrested a 30-year-old former employee of a finance company for allegedly orchestrating a loan scam involving the embezzlement of Rs 11.40 lakh. The accused was identified as Narendra Kumar Yadav, a resident of Govindgarh. Additional DCP (North) Bajrang Singh Shekhawat said that the case was registered on March 2 at the Jalupura police station, following a complaint by company officials. The complaint alleged that Yadav, along with another agent, Naresh Kumar Verma, and others, defrauded the company and its loan holders before going underground. The accused, while working as a field agent, facilitated loan disbursals to about 24–25 clients, many of whom were persuaded to take loans far beyond their financial needs. Yadav then convinced them to return up to 70% of the disbursed amount to the company under the false pretext of a refund policy. Instead, he siphoned off the returned money for personal gain. The company detected the fraud while auditing financial records, which revealed a consistent pattern of forged paperwork, inflated loan amounts, and unauthorised fund diversion. Police said a technical investigation was launched immediately, leading to the identification and arrest of Yadav. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Preliminary findings suggest that several loan holders may have knowingly participated in the scam by accepting inflated loan amounts and returning partial sums to the accused. These individuals are now also under investigation. Police are continuing to trace other suspects and examine whether additional employees or agents were involved in the racket. "Investigators are also probing why borrowers agreed to return up to 70% of the sanctioned loan amount, unless there was some sort of under-the-table arrangement involved," a senior official said. 75-day deadline set for disbursal of aid under national family benefit scheme

Lucknow: From now on, disbursal of financial aid under the National Family Benefit Scheme (NFBS) must be made within 75 days of an application being submitted. If this timeline is not met, the approval will be given directly by the district-level committee to ensure immediate payments. The NFBS is a centrally sponsored scheme that provides a one-time financial assistance of Rs 30,000 to families living below the poverty line when their primary breadwinner, aged 18-59 years, passes away. The family's annual income to avail this scheme should not exceed Rs 56,460 in urban areas and Rs 46,080 in rural areas. In 2024-25, the govt provided assistance of Rs 326.64 crore to 1,08,883 families. The order issued by the govt states that under no circumstances will it be possible to disburse funds after 75 days of the application at the district level. If an application remains pending for this duration, the district magistrate must send a report to the director of the social welfare department, detailing the reason for the delay and all other points pertaining to the case. "The decision has been taken to ensure that eligible families do not have to make repeated visits to govt offices for financial assistance. The entire process from application to payment is now digital and accountable at every stage," said a govt spokesperson. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo He stated that in case of a delay in issuing payment beyond 75 days of application, approval will be obtained directly from the district-level committee to facilitate immediate payment instead of dragging the case through lengthy procedures and waiting for additional approvals. The scheme will also soon incorporate Aadhaar-based live verification to instantly check the account status of beneficiaries. An SOP has been issued for district social welfare officers who will have to prepare the list of beneficiaries and ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria. The approved list will then be uploaded to the portal with digital signatures. Funds will be transferred to Aadhaar-linked bank accounts through the Public Financial Management System, the official added. Follow more information on Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad here .
