Naidu unveils vision to make AP $2.4-tn economy by 2047

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday unveiled a bold development agenda to transform Andhra Pradesh into a $2.4-trillion economy by 2047.
Addressing the Special Plenary Session of industry body CII's Annual Business Summit 2025 here, he invited industry leaders to participate in the Swarna Andhra Vision 2047 and called for deeper collaboration in innovation, infrastructure, and inclusive growth. As part of the vision, the government aims to sustain over 15 per cent annual GDP growth and achieve a per capita income of $42,000-positioning Andhra Pradesh as one of the most prosperous and inclusive states in India.
Naidu said entrepreneurs generate wealth, and with it, we can implement impactful welfare programmes. During the years when the CII Partnership Summit was held in Hyderabad, it brought immense visibility and investment, he added. 'Now, I seek your support to bring investment to Andhra Pradesh so we can continue creating wealth. We are at a truly inspiring moment in time', the Chief Minister said.
Reflecting on his decades-long association with CII, Naidu noted, 'For over three decades, you've understood and engaged with my vision.
In the mid-1990s, when CII was still finding its footing, I was warned that associating with industrialists or international forums like Davos might harm my political prospects. Yet, I persisted- attending Davos regularly since 1995 - because I believed in economic development through collaboration'. The Chief Minister said his government would set up a global leadership centre in Amaravati to prepare leaders for tomorrow, on the lines of Davos in Switzerland. "We want to set up a global leadership centre in Amaravati to prepare global leaders for tomorrow. We are all going to Davos to learn, network, meet people, exchange ideas. Now, this is the place I want to make it," he said. Naidu said companies like TCS, IBM and L&T would be setting up quantum computing centres in Amaravati, the new Greenfield capital. He said Andhra Pradesh is well-positioned for industries producing green energy. Naidu said his state has good solar and wind energy potential, along with pumped storage, green ammonia and nitrogen. It also has ports. "Some states have solar, some have wind, but all put together, Andhra Pradesh is the number one state for green energy and downstream industries," he said. Inviting industries to set up facilities in the state, Naidu said, "I will give you all the facilities. I am planning big." He said out of India's target to achieve 500 gigawatts of installed electricity capacity for non-fossil-based energy sources, 160 GW will come from Andhra Pradesh. Naidu highlighted India's evolution since the economic liberalization era under Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, noting that nearly 30 per cent of top global Indian achievers are of Telugu origin. He underlined the importance of technological advancements - ranging from AI to quantum computing—and stressed the potential of real-time data and innovation to position India as a global leader. 'We are fortunate to have Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the helm during this critical phase. Today, we are the fourth-largest economy. As India ascends to become the world's third-largest economy, the real competition begins - with the USA and China. The Indian industry must prepare for this next phase,' he urged.

Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The move is significant, as Bihar assembly polls are around the corner. Jandullah Dad Mohammad, an Afghan national from the volatile Paktika province, impersonating as Rehan, son of Kabir, was residing at Patna's Wakil Anwer House along with his brother Mansur. After entering India on a six-day medical visa in December 2019, he vanished from Delhi's radar. By 2020, he had acquired a full suite of fake Indian IDs. His EPIC (AFS3853934), Indian passport (C6978659), Aadhaar card (322874855132), PAN card (ETXPR8222K), driving license (BR0120210005369), SBI bank passbook (39914603822), municipal corporation Patna issued birth certificate (B-2019 10-90097 025254), and even a ration card painted a convincing picture of an Indian citizen. 'We are now preparing to revoke the EPIC AFS3853934 issued in the name of Rehan, son of Kabir,' said electoral registration officer (ERO) Raghvendra Pratap Singh. The accused foreign national is currently lodged in Lucknow jail after being caught by Bureau of Immigration from Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport on May 19 evening. The ECI's consolidated electoral list, published on January 7, 2025, under a special summary revision, revealed that the Wakil Anwer House has 12 male occupants, all in their 20s and 30s except one, with no women registered. At least four of them shared identical details: Same age, same father's name (Kabir), and EPICs. Kabir's real identity has been established as Dad Mohammad Khan. His elder son Mansur who left for Dubai more than six months ago, is registered in electoral roll with two EPICs AFS4130290, AFS4127999. Another resident, Mohammad Sher Khan, also had dual EPICs: AFS4129953 and AFS4125266. 'Currently, Kabir is absent from Wakil Anwer House, with no confirmation of his existence, though locals confirm his presence in Patna 7-8 years ago. We have cancelled Mansur's and Mohammad Sher Khan's EPICs . One individual cannot have two EPICs,' said ERO Raghvendra. He added, 'The owner of Wakil Anwer House has not returned to Patna from New Delhi till date. He has now assured to return around June 9, following which he would furnish details of everyone living in his property.'

Mukesh Ambani plans big, new move involves Laapataa Ladies, Article 370 and..., aims to become...

Mukesh Ambani (File) Mukesh Ambani, Asia's richest man, owns highly-successful businesses ranging from oil, green energy, telecom to retail, media and entertainment. But now the billionaire tycoon has set his sights on something arguably more ambitious; carve a unique niche for Indian entertainment content in Hollywood via his Jio Studios– the country's largest content studio. Mukesh Ambani plans Hollywood takeover Last year, three films produced by Jio Studios– Laapataa Ladies, Article 370, and Shaitaan– were ranked on the top 10 global charts of Netflix, proof that Indian content now resonates beyond the diaspora audience across continents. Laapataa Ladies, which secured an Oscar nomination, was watched in more than 43 countries. However, Mukesh Ambani-owned Jio Studios has bigger ambitions; it aims to emerge as a prominent international studio in the next five years, and rub shoulders with Hollywood powerhouses like Paramount, Walt Disney, Peacock, Lionsgate, and MGM. 'Today, we are nowhere near Hollywood or even Korea. Somebody needs to take control and start. I want to use the Reliance heft to take Indian stories to the world,' Jyoti Deshpande, President (Media and Content Business), Reliance Industries, was quoted as saying by Fortune India. Deshpande revealed that the studios' ambitious expansion plan involves a 'combination of organic and inorganic collaborations', and one of the key goals to separate India rights and overseas rights, then hire a sales agent in key markets, in North America, Europe, and Australia. 'Currently, a digital platform takes away global rights, which limits international distribution country by country. We will then try to work that film from a Berlin or a Cannes, get a sales agent, and sell North America, Germany, France, and other parts of Europe—around 100-135 countries,' Deshpande told Fortune India. Jio Studios to build franchises Jio Studios will then try to give the movie a theatre release, and also later air it on local streaming services and TV channels in those markets. 'If I do this with a set of films, then our stories will start opening up into those markets.' Deshpande agrees that an expansion of this scale involves significant risk, but asserts that Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries is up to the challenge. 'Today, we are talking about India to the world. How can you make it happen by doing business the way we are currently doing? One will have to take significant risks, invest in the right stories that can travel, and take on international partners. I will be looking at co-producing some films internationally as well as inviting some international co-producers into my slate.' Additionally, Jyoti Deshpande wants to build global franchises of Jio Studios' titles and make them a part of pop culture, akin to what Hollywood does with its popular franchises like Star Wars, Harry Potter, The Matrix, Lord of The Rings, to name a few. 'We are already building franchises around Stree, Thama, Bhediya, and Munjya. We are also doing Mahaavatar, which is the story of Parasuram. This will be a big budget behemoth, and it will introduce characters,' Deshpande states.

Free the brave Sharmishta Panoli! It's a disgrace for the freedom of speech that she was arrested. Don't punish her for speaking the truth about Pakistan and Muhammad. Help her @narendramodi! @AmyMek #Sharmishta#IStandwithSharmishta #ReleaseSharmistha #FreeSharmishta — Geert Wilders (@geertwilderspvv) May 31, 2025 Sharmishta Panoli's Arrest Sharmishta Panoli was arrested on Saturday in Kolkata for posting videos containing communal remarks during Operation Sindoor. The Indian Armed Forces' Operation Sindoor was launched during the wee hours of May 7, targeting terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK). These steps came after the gruesome terror attack in Pahalgam in which 26 individuals were killed. According to IANS, the FIR filed against her includes charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for promoting enmity on religious grounds, deliberately outraging religious feelings, and provoking a breach of peace. Despite deleting the video and issuing a public apology, Panoli was produced in court and sent to 14-day judicial custody. Political Backlash Sharmishta Panoli's arrest has triggered a political backlash. West Bengal BJP Chief and Union Minister of State, Sukanta Majumdar, called her arrest "vote-bank vendetta." In a post on X, he wrote, "No riots. No unrest. Yet Mamata Banerjee's police acted overnight — not for justice, but for appeasement." "But when TMC leaders insult Sanatan Dharma, call Jai Shri Ram a gaali, mock Maha Kumbh, and push communal poison — there's no FIR, no arrest, no apology," he added. On the other hand, Congress leader and MP Karti P. Chidambaram also condemned the arrest and called it a 'blatant misuse of police powers'.
