Star Mamelodi Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile has left the club after deciding not to renew his contract with the club, according to a Soccer Bullet report on Tuesday.
The Betway Premiership champions have yet to confirm the development, as the 31-year-old has been a fixture in the Sundowns lineup since joining the club in 2020.
Since then, the Namibian goal-poacher has bagged over 100 goals for the Pretoria outfit in 172 appearances.
In his time with Sundowns, Shalulile has won seven trophies with the Brazilians, including four league titles.

Chiefs unveil new signings-but big guns still missing

KAIZER Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jnr. and football manager Bobby Motuang unveil Durban-born attacking midfielder Ethan Chislett. | Image: Kaizer Chiefs are all set to take on their European pre-season tour, with the Netherlands confirmed as their trusted destination—a trip they hope will spark the beginning of a turnaround after two difficult seasons and a tough past decade. While neighbors Orlando Pirates continue to enjoy their limited success, the footballing rivalry between the two Soweto giants has become unbalanced. Pirates have followed up an impressive showing last season with a couple of top-class signings, showing clear ambition. Chiefs, on the other hand, continue to tread carefully, as usual—avoiding panic, even though their recent results suggest that a little urgency may be long overdue. On Tuesday the Glamour Boys unveiled former AFC Wimbledon and Port Vale midfielder Ethan Chislett, Potugese striker Flavio Silva and left back Nkanyiso Shinga ahead of their tour. Amakhosi have uncharacteristically missed out on a top-eight finish in each of the last two seasons, making them fully guilty of failing to add intensity to the fierce battle that Mamelodi Sundowns and Pirates brought last season. As one of South Africa's "Big Three", they have fallen behind the pace. Both Soweto clubs have allowed the Pretoria powerhouse to dominate unchallenged, with Sundowns having claimed the league title for the past eight consecutive seasons. It's hard to see how they'll be stopped—especially as Pirates seem to be building something solid with youth and quality new recruits. As for the Glamour Boys, it's not quite clear where they are headed but the hope will be that the new signings will bring a fresh new energy into the squad. But with that said, It has become increasingly evident that to compete with the best, they will need a lot more quality on the pitch, and here we will outline three other top players Amakhosi should go all out to sign to add to their new signings. Image: Supplied The former Orlando Pirates playmaker was deemed surplus to requirements by Sundowns, but fortunately for him, former boss Rhulani Mokwena still saw value in him and arranged a loan move to Wydad Athletic Club in Morocco. His quality is undeniable, and it didn't take him long to recapture some of his best form. Lorch has become a key figure for the North African giants and was one of their standout performers during the ongoing FIFA Club World Cup. This could be the ideal time for Chiefs to secure his services. He would bring not just technical ability, but also a big personality—something Amakhosi have sorely lacked in recent seasons. Peter Shalulile MAMELODI Sundowns striker Peter Shalulile. | BackpagePix Image: BACKPAGEPIX The Sundowns striker has fallen down the pecking order since the arrival of Miguel Cardoso and Iqraam Rayners. With his reputation as a deadly finisher, Shalulile would be a game-changer for a Chiefs side that scored only 25 goals in 28 matches last season. He has been South Africa's top striker over the last decade. While age may not be on his side, his numbers speak for themselves. He's never been one to sit on the bench, and his hunger for goals could breathe new energy into a Chiefs attack that has looked lifeless for far too long. Peter Shalulile could be the missing piece in Kaizer Chiefs' rebuild

Could Shalulile make Chiefs great again? Namibian striker Peter Shalulile could be the perfect signing to reignite Kaizer Chiefs ahead of the new Betway Premiership season. Photo: Phill Magakoe/AFP Image: Phill Magakoe/AFP Peter Shalulile would be the perfect man to spearhead Kaizer Chiefs' push up the Betway Premiership table next season. The Namibian hitman is reported to have exited Mamelodi Sundowns when his contract expired at the end of June, and is now available to sign for any club he wishes. In recent season, Kaizer Chiefs have struggled for goals and are in desperate need of a goal machine that knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. A move to Chiefs will give the 31-year-old Shalulile a chance to continue his career at the highest level. His record in front of goal, and his impressive haul of trophies are a testament to his ability as a footballer. And because of his experience in winning everything under the South African sun, he would be perfect in guiding Chiefs' young players. Get your news on the go, click here to join the IOL News WhatsApp channel. Shalulile joined Sundowns in 2020 from Highlands Park, and went on to score over 100 goals in all competitions for the Tshwane giants Shalulile is the type of player who can instantly make Chiefs a better team. And as Nasreddine Nabi rebuilds the team so that they can start challenging for honours again, they should be doing everything they can to sign a player of his pedigree. At Chiefs, he can be the missing piece in the puzzle that gets the club firing on all cylinders again. If Chiefs are serious about getting the club back to where they belong, then a player of Shalulile's calibre is one they should be signing. A proven winner with a relentless work ethic, Shalulile would bring more than just goals to Naturena. He would also arrive with the mentality of a champion – something Kaizer Chiefs have sorely lacked in recent years. His presence in the dressing room could inspire a shift in mindset and allow the younger players to flourish. If the club truly wants to restore its legacy and reignite belief among its supporters, signing Peter Shalulile isn't just a good idea – it's a necessary one. Relegation offers Cape Town City a chance to reset and refocus

CAPE Town City coaches Roger de Sa and Lebohang Manyama carry Prins Tjiueza out of the field after their club was relegated. | BackpagePix Image: BackpagePix Cape Town City were their own worst enemies in the 2024/25 campaign, and their failure to register a single win in the PSL promotion/relegation playoffs highlights the deep-rooted issues that must be addressed before the new season kicks off. For a side boasting the quality and depth of players that City has, their relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship (MFC) is a massive fall from grace. This is a club that had become a regular top-eight finisher since the 2014/15 season, yet they now find themselves outside the top flight for the first time in years, exposed by the very clubs they were expected to outperform. Their dismal Betway Premiership season saw them win only seven out of 28 matches—form that dragged them into a relegation battle they ultimately could not escape. At no point during the mini-league playoffs did the Cape side assert their expected superiority over Casric Stars or tournament winners Orbit College. In contrast, both MFC outfits were better drilled, more consistent, and fully deserving of their positions. Orbit sealed automatic promotion, while Casric impressed despite falling short, missing a few key opportunities to seal their fate. City's chaotic campaign was worsened by two disruptive coaching changes. Neither Eric Tinkler nor Muhsin Ertugral managed to steady the ship, and the brief tenure of Diogo Peral—despite support from Roger de Sa and Lebohang Manyana—also failed to bring about meaningful change. A lack of direction on the technical bench translated directly onto the field. As things stand, the Citizens are confirmed to be playing in the second tier next season. However, with the increasing trend of clubs buying and selling statuses in South African football, a return to the Premiership cannot be completely written off in the future. But for now, their focus must shift to rebuilding and preparing for life in the MFC next season.
