Social media reacts to shocking Big Ten College Football Playoff idea
College Football Playoff expansion has been a talking point since the original four-team playoff debuted in 2014. The playoff just recently expanded from four to 12 teams, but it might not be done there. On Saturday, reports emerged about an idea from the Big Ten concerning expansion. And it's a pretty wild concept. According to reports, the Big Ten is pushing for a 24- to 28-team playoff. Yes, you're reading that right, there are no typos. Twenty-four to 28 teams. The 28-team playoff plan would feature seven automatic bids for the Big Ten and SEC, five automatic bids for the ACC and Big 12, two for Group of Six squads and a pair of at-large bids. The proposed idea generated plenty of feedback from college football fans, and it seems the majority has spoken. Zazzaroni: ‘Gasperini Would Let Roma Sell Manu Kone If They Can Complete The Squad'
Gian Piero Gasperini would allow Roma to sell Inter Milan target Manu Kone if it allows them to complete their squad. This according to Corriere dello Sport editor Ivan Zazzaroni, via FCInterNews. Last week, news emerged that Inter Milan are interested in Roma midfielder Manu Kone. The Frenchman has come into the Nerazzurri's sights as a reinforcement in holding midfield. Reports indicate that Inter put a bid of around €45 million on the table. However, subsequent reports indicated that the Giallorossi have decided not to accept Inter's offer. That despite the fact that the capital club are facing a somewhat difficult financial situation. Therefore, there is no hiding the fact that a sale of a player like Kone for a substantial fee could certainly be a big help for Roma financially. Zazzaroni: 'Gasperini Would Allow Roma To Sell Kone To Complete The Squad' EMPOLI, ITALY – MARCH 9: Manu Kone' of AS Roma in action during the Serie A match between Empoli and AS Roma at Stadio Carlo Castellani on March 9, 2025 in Empoli, Italy. (Photo by) Corriere dello Sport editor Ivan Zazzaroni explained the situation around Kone at Roma. 'Today, Gasperini has shuffled the deck,' he notes. Gasperini commented on Kone earlier today. He admitted that Roma are within Financial Fair Play constraints, and that a sale of the Frenchman could be helpful. Zazzaroni comments that 'Kone isn't unsellable.' 'He would accept a sacrifice. But only if it allows them to complete the squad.' Meanwhile, Zazzaroni reports that 'Friedkin has never vetoed the idea of a sale.'

Monaco and Lyon open their Ligue 1 campaigns with wins
PARIS (AP) — Monaco opened its Ligue 1 campaign with a 3-1 home win against Le Havre and Lyon began with a 1-0 victory at Lens on Saturday. An own goal from defender Gautier Lloris — the younger brother of former France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris — gave Monaco the lead late in the first half. England defender Eric Dier made it 2-0 in the 61st minute. Le Havre's Rassoul Ndiaye pulled one back shortly after. Midfielder Maghnes Akliouche added Monaco's third in the 74th after being set up by captain Denis Zakaria. Having overturned relegation on appeal, Lyon has at least started the new season with a solid performance. Georgia forward Georges Mikautadze gave Lyon the lead just before halftime when he turned in a cross from Malick Fofana to the front post. Lens improved when new signing Florian Thauvin went on but could not find an equalizer. Later Saturday, Nice hosted Toulouse. Defending champion Paris Saint-Germain is at Nantes on Sunday. Marseille lost at Rennes 1-0 on Friday. ___ AP soccer: Jerome Pugmire, The Associated Press
