Greeley to vote on $1.1B entertainment district with Colorado Eagles arena
DENVER (KDVR) — On Tuesday night, the city of Greeley is voting on whether or not to build a new entertainment district that would bring an arena for the Colorado Eagles, a waterpark, apartments and retail spaces to the area.
The city has been looking into the Cascadia Project, which is a project proposed by the Water Valley Company that would transform a 300-acre lot by Highway 34 and County Road 47 into an entertainment district.

The renderings shown in a community meeting in January include an 8,600-seat ice hockey arena for the Colorado Eagles and a 10,000-seat concert venue. The arena would also be a youth hockey center. The surrounding plaza would include a new hotel, 6,000 residential units, restaurants, retail spaces, and even a 100K square foot waterpark with a lazy river and wave simulator.
City Manager Raymond Lee said in a community meeting that the project plan is to promote economic growth and business recruitment. He also said it would improve the transportation system, as there will also be a bus stop in the new area.
The project would cost $1.1 billion, but officials want to use operating revenues, bonds and general improvement district financing to issue a bond for the cost of the project, which would be paid back in revenue from the district.

After months of community meetings and input, the city is ready to vote on the predevelopment agreement. The vote will take place during the Greeley City Council meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
If the project is approved, the council will vote on zoning later this year before design and construction work begin in the winter.

The Colorado SNAP Produce Bonus program provides an immediate credit for the fruits and vegetables from participating locations to the shopper's EBT card. 'This is especially important with the increase in grocery prices that we have seen recently.' The program said that it has three easy steps, including: Buy eligible fruits and vegetables at a participating retailer Get a dollar-for-dollar match automatically added to your EBT card to use at any SNAP location. Get up to $60 reimbursed per month Spend your bonus on any SNAP-eligible items at any SNAP-authorized retailer 'Most people that come in know about the program and are stoked and then just keep coming back,' said Emma Kottenstette, founder of Farm Runners, a retailer that sells local produce on the Western Slope. Denver Clerk and Recorder adjusts fee for recording documents
DENVER (KDVR) — The Denver Clerk and Recorder is adjusting its fee for recording documents, in compliance with new state law. Starting July 1, customers who file or record a document with the Denver Clerk and Recorder will be charged a flat rate of $43, regardless of page count, according to the agency. Appointments are not required to record documents up to 3:30 p.m. each day through the end of June. Lakewood named ‘climate action leader' for second straight year
DENVER (KDVR) — Lakewood has been named a 'climate action leader' for the second straight year, for its work on 'sustainability, climate change, resiliency and environmental transparency,' according to the city. Lakewood is one of 112 cities globally and 29 in the United States to earn a spot on the 2024 CDP A list. To be on the environmental disclosure system's A list, a city must publicly disclose its efforts through the climate reporting platform CDP-ICLEI Track and meet 'rigorous' criteria, the city said.
