There's no shortage of leadership advice online. Scroll your feed and you'll find endless tips on optimizing your calendar, sharpening your pitch or making better decisions. After 38 years of building and funding growth companies, riding the waves of the capital markets, IPOs, crashes and reinventions, I've learned the real starting line isn't my calendar or pitch deck; it's my energy, the cadence of my breath and the weight of my feet on the floor.
I didn't come to this realization in a moment of calm clarity or on a meditation cushion. It slammed in hard during one of the most chaotic times in my life, after the Great Recession wiped out nearly everything I had built. I wasn't just facing business losses; my balance sheet bled, real estate values flipped, but the real deficit was unraveling physically and emotionally. On the outside, I still wore the leader's mask, yet I was reactive and spent. Strategy couldn't reach that place; only presence could.
That's when I discovered embodied leadership.

From surviving to leading with presence
Embodied leadership is the practice of leading not just from intellect or strategy, but from the integration of mind, body and emotion. It is grounded in neuroscience and used in elite performance environments, including special-ops military and Fortune 500 boardrooms. At its core, it teaches leaders to feel what is happening inside before they act outside.
At first, I was skeptical and dismissed it as woo-woo. Coming from the world of capital markets and hard metrics, the idea of breathing techniques and posture awareness felt too soft and intangible. But then I tested it when I began practicing it, three slow breaths before investor meetings and grounding myself before making a high-stakes call, I noticed something. I made better decisions. I communicated more clearly. My presence started speaking louder than my pitch.
The science behind the shift
This isn't just personal insight. It is backed by research. A study published by Yale found that even short breathing interventions reduced anxiety and improved executive performance. Other research has shown that adopting an expansive posture for just two minutes can elevate testosterone, reduce cortisol and enhance confidence and clarity.
In real-time leadership, this translates to sharper thinking under pressure, more grounded decision-making and improved team trust. For me, it also meant less burnout. I no longer lived in a constant state of mental overdrive.

What changed in my business
Once I started leading from an embodied state, subtle shifts created powerful results.
Investor meetings became more authentic and effective.
My team responded more to how I showed up than to what I said.
Conflict resolution became less reactive and more relational.
I made fewer fear-based decisions and better strategic ones.
One vivid example: During a tense discussion, I paused a boardroom conversation and took a few centering breaths. Just 30 seconds, but that short pause settled the energy in the room. What could have escalated into a heated debate shifted into a focused, solution-driven dialogue. Had I stayed on autopilot, that moment would've gone very differently.
How entrepreneurs can use this now
You don't need to become a breathwork or meditation expert to lead this way. If you're an entrepreneur dealing with uncertainty, team dynamics or nonstop decisions, this is for you. Try these simple shifts:
Start with the body, not the spreadsheet: Before your next big decision, pause. Feel your breath. Relax your shoulders. Plant your feet on the ground. This five-second check-in can help you respond rather than react.
Reframe stress as physical data: When you feel tension such as a tight jaw (a bygone for me), racing heart or clenched fists, don't ignore it. That is data. Your body is showing you what needs attention. Listening to them gives you clarity.
Lead with grounded presence: Walk into the room with your breath low and posture strong. You'll speak less and land more. People respond to how you enter before you say a word.
Integrate regular practices: Whether it is daily movement, breathwork or stillness, it's about doing it daily. It is not about perfection. It is about consistency.
Why this matters more than ever
In a world of constant disruption, information overload and AI-driven decisions, what sets leaders apart isn't just intelligence or innovation. It's presence. The ability to stay grounded is a competitive advantage. It helps you build resilient teams, navigate volatility and make authentic decisions.
I've worked with dozens of CEOs through IPOs, pivots and exits. The ones who lead best aren't always the loudest or the boldest. They're the steadiest. They are the most embodied. These are the leaders who can stay steady in the storm and lead with clarity when the stakes are highest.

Leadership is not just what you say. It is how you show up. And how you show up begins in your body.
If there is one thing I wish I had embraced earlier in my career, it is this: You don't need to have all the answers. But you do need to be present. And presence is something you practice, not a performance.
Because at the end of the day, companies rise and fall on decisions. But great leadership? It lives in the presence.

Magnitude Of Roblox's Q2 Beat Unexpected, Says Analyst

Roblox Corp (NYSE:RBLX) is experiencing a significant market shift, with second-quarter bookings and user engagement metrics signaling a robust recovery, despite a mixed financial report. The gaming platform, propelled by viral game successes and expanding reach, is seeing a positive reevaluation of its growth outlook. Following the release of its quarterly results, Wall Street analysts have revised their price forecasts upward. Wedbush's Alicia Reese raised her forecast from $142 to $165, maintaining an Outperform Bernie McTernan increased his forecast from $79 to $159, and Bank of America Securities' Omar Dessouky lifted his forecast from $133 to $159. Reese, viewing Roblox as the most compelling growth story in gaming, highlighted the company's record-breaking second-quarter performance. Bookings surged 50% year-over-year to $1.44 billion, far exceeding her $1.19 billion estimate and the consensus estimate of $1.24 billion. Adjusted EBITDA rose 180% to $205 million, slightly surpassing guidance but missing consensus. Daily active users hit 111.8 million, above her forecast of 92.8 million, and engagement soared to 27.8 billion hours, surpassing the estimated 22.2 billion. Monetization also exceeded expectations, with average bookings per user at $12.86. Looking ahead, Reese raised her fiscal 2025 forecast and projects double-digit growth through 2027, with a return to 20% year-over-year growth after tough comparisons in 2026. She expects the third quarter to benefit from multiple viral games, suggesting operating leverage and revenue per engineer will grow as the platform scales. McTernan, following a strong second-quarter performance, raised his 2025 and 2026 adjusted EBITDA estimates by 21% and 45%, respectively. He sees Roblox's growth potential as driven by AI leadership and a strong pipeline of viral games. Bookings rose 51% year-over-year, up from 31% in the prior quarter, fueled by five experiences reaching over 10 million daily active users. McTernan raised his bookings estimates by 11% for 2025 and 23% for 2026, with a corresponding boost to EBITDA. His base case assumes Roblox will hit $20 billion in bookings by 2031, though his bull case expects this milestone one to two years earlier, supported by a 40% compound annual growth rate (CAGR) in bookings and nearly 60% CAGR in EBITDA. McTernan also sees growth from advertising and margin expansion in 2026. Dessouky of Bank of America also increased his price forecast following the company's quarterly beat, particularly noting the 51% year-over-year surge in bookings. He said the magnitude of the second quarter beat was unexpected. Growth was driven not only by the hit title Grow a Garden but also by a 90% increase in Tier 2 games. Daily active users grew 41% year-over-year, suggesting that Roblox is deepening its penetration into the 13+ demographic and alleviating concerns of market saturation. Operating expenses related to infrastructure and trust & safety (IT&S) rose $18 million sequentially, but Dessouky saw this as a positive sign, noting a 10% drop in cost per engagement hour. Guidance for the third quarter also exceeded expectations, with bookings growth forecasted at 41%, compared to BofA's 23% estimate. Dessouky raised his full-year 2025 bookings estimate to $6.06 billion and EBITDA to $1.41 billion, up from $5.59 billion and $1.24 billion, respectively. Despite potential challenges from new leadership and tough comps in 2026, he expects the company to reaffirm its +20% year-over-year growth forecast. He also projects margin expansion of 100 basis points in 2025 and over 300 basis points in 2026–27. Price Action: RBLX stock is trading lower by 7.57% to $127.36 at last check Friday. Fed spearheads effort to ease 'Basel III endgame' capital requirements, Bloomberg News reports

(Reuters) -The Federal Reserve has begun developing a new risk-based capital rule aimed at easing the burden on the largest U.S. banks than a Biden-era plan, Bloomberg News reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter. Regulators are largely scrapping the original 1,087-page proposal from two years ago and plan to unveil a new one as early as the first quarter of 2026, the report added. Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman is leading efforts to develop the new rule, that would aim to simplify how banks calculate their capital requirements, according to the report. Representatives of the Federal Reserve declined to comment, when contacted by Reuters. The "Basel III" standard was agreed after the 2007-09 global financial crisis. It includes numerous capital, leverage and liquidity requirements. Regulators across the world have worked for years to implement many of those standards, and the so-called "endgame," agreed in 2017, is the final iteration. These capital requirements serve as a financial cushion to enhance the resilience of these big banks against economic stress and safeguard the broader financial system. The banking industry lobbied for a significantly weaker version of the "Basel Endgame" capital rule under the Trump administration, which was viewed as more favorable compared to the Biden-era approach. The proposed rules, which would apply to banks with more than $100 billion in assets, would overhaul how the largest banks manage their capital, with potential ripple effects on their lending and trading activities. The rules aim to prevent another financial crisis by requiring the largest U.S. banks, including JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, and Goldman Sachs, to collectively set aside nearly $1 trillion to absorb potential losses from loans and trading activities. However, banks say additional capital is unnecessary and will hurt the economy, and have aggressively lobbied against the project. Sign in to access your portfolio
