An Edinburgh pensioner has hit out at a fly tipper who dumped a Christmas tree in her front garden.
Judy Lothian, from Clermiston, revealed the incident has left her feeling uneasy in her own home as she believes the culprit may have been watching her.
Sadly the council tenant, who lives with mobility issues, recently lost her partner and lives at home with her two dogs, reliant on her sister for help around the house and garden. Her sister had spent hours tidying up the front lawn with the pair having gone out to drop garden waste on the morning of Monday May 19.
The siblings after dropping off the garden waste decided to go shopping but on their return the dead Christmas tree could be seen poking out of her flowers and hedge. Judy is adamant the tree must have been dumped between the hours of 10am and 1pm in the afternoon.
She believes someone may have observed her having garden work done and when she left her home, they seized their opportunity to dump the tree in the hope she would get rid of it.

'It has set off the paranoia,' Judy said. 'I'm now worried someone is watching the house, it is really worrying.
'I recently lost my partner and all I have left are my two dogs. It is depressing someone has done this.
'It's really pissed me off. My sister has spent hours getting the garden nice and for someone to dump the tree between my rhododendron and hedge.
'It definitely was not there this morning. We went out at 10am and came back at 1pm and we could see it sticking out.
'See if the person had just tapped my door to ask if I could get rid of it for them then that would be different. I cannot afford the garden uplift myself hence why my sister has had to take the garden waste away.'

Scottish drugs mule flooded market with £7m of heroin in plot involving former cop

More info A Scottish drugs mule who flooded the UK with millions of pounds worth of heroin has been ordered to pay back just £42k. Christopher Heaney, from Anstruther in Fife, was jailed for nine years for his involvement in a cross-border heroin conspiracy as he and four others were busted by cops following the arrest of a former police officer in 2022. Ex-cop Steven Creasey was stopped while driving to Fife having already travelled from his home in Cardiff to Liverpool on the same day. A dog then sniffed out a professionally installed hide under the passenger seat, reports WalesOnline. It contained a 5kg stash of heroin and one kilogram of adulterant. A burner phone also found in his possession revealed he had been operating as a professional courier engaged by the heads of a Liverpool-based gang. Fife-based Heaney was involved in the distribution of onward supply across the UK along with three others. Raids were then carried out at homes in Cardiff, Liverpool, Scotland and Northumberland towards the end of 2022. Significant items were found at the addresses, including expensive jewellery, heroin, cocaine, adulterants, opium, cannabis grows, and metal moulds for pressing powder into blocks. All five defendants pleaded guilty prior to trial at Cardiff Crown Court in February last year. The gang members were jailed for a combination of 57 years and 2 months. A Proceeds of Crime Act (POCA) hearing was held at the same court earlier this week. It heard how despite profiting around £125,000 as part of the operation, Heaney was ordered to pay back a fraction of £42,000. Judge Lucy Crowther ordered him to pay the sum within three months. Speaking after sentencing, Detective Inspector Christopher McGlinchey of Police Scotland said: "This case underlines our collaborative efforts to dismantle organised crime networks that span regions. "The significant amount of drugs trafficked by this group had the potential to inflict serious harm on our communities. "The success of Operation Solon demonstrates strong partnership working between Police Scotland, Tarian ROCU and other partner agencies. It also reinforces our commitment to the UK's Serious and Organised Crime Strategy. "Organised crime has no place in our society and we will continue to work relentlessly to bring those responsible to justice."

Moment driver nearly ploughed into group of children caught on camera
A local has hit out over incidents in the area. A Scots driver narrowly missed a group of children as they were crossing the road. The heart-stopping moment, which took place in Edinburgh, was caught on camera. Three children were crossing the road on Arkaig Gardens in the south of the city, as a red car waited for them to pass. But a black vehicle zoomed by, narrowly missing the group. The last of the trio just made it across the road before the black vehicle passed, with the Sunday, June 1, 2025 incident caught on CCTV, Edinburgh Live reports. The concerned resident whose children were crossing has said the neighbourhood has rising problems with 'speeding and dangerous driving', with motorists 'using the estate as a cut-through'. They believe it was 'only millimetres from being a fatal accident'.
