After not making it to the finale on America's Got Talent in 2019, the Messoudi Brothers went home and developed a new danger act, so they could return to the AGT stage just in time for the show's landmark 20th season with its new composite of judges: Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, Mel B and Sofia Vergara.
Their initial Messoudi Brothers act was a balancing act, not knives, and this time around only two of the three brothers competed -- Karim and Soffien, while brother Yassin remained at home.
'There are still three of us,' Soffien explained, 'We left our brother at home. He decided to sit this one out because he has two children at home and he does some time off every now and then. We still work together but we are trying something new that's quite a lot more dangerous than what we did last time.'
🎬 🎬
The new act consisted of juggling knives that the brothers threw at each other but also stripping down to their skivvies while juggling and then getting dressed again.
'It was breathtaking,' Simon said. 'That may have been the only time I liked a juggling act. I'm being serious. It felt different and we always say, this show relies on moments and that's what I call a moment. Big time.'
'It's incredibly dangerous,' Howie said.
'I ripped a hole in my jacket,' Karim told him. 'That's why I couldn't get my arm back in.'

'This act was spectacular, no?' Sofia said. 'And to see how hard it was because I felt you had a little bit of trouble trying. That made it even better. We realized how hard it is.'
"Well, can I just say, having seen you before, I didn't think you'd be able to top it,' Mel B said. Then she joked, "It was really frightening to watch you take [your clothes] off, which has never happened before that I've been scared of that, but then I was that scared for you to put them back on."
She then jumped up and said, 'I do want to say one thing to you,' when she was interrupted by Sofia shouting, "No!"
But Mel B went on, 'I think you are perfect,' and she hit the Golden Buzzer, sending the Messoudi Brothers directly to the Live Shows.

While everyone cheered, Sofia told Simon, 'I was going to do it.'
Backstage, Mel B told host Terry Crews that the brothers act was "terrifyingly sexy."
Meanwhile Sofia was still complaining, 'I was going to do it. That was my Golden Buzzer.'
When asked by Simon why she didn't get there earlier, Sofia explained, 'She did it out of nowhere. She took it away.'

Marvel's X-Men director says the new movie will be ‘recognizably different' from the Hugh Jackman franchise

Following the premiere of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the X-Men are the last major set of characters who have not yet been interested into the Marvel universe. Now that we know Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier will be helming this new version of the X-Men, though, he's offered some detail on what the movie will look like in an interview with The Playlist. When he was asked if Marvel's take on the characters will be 'recognizably different' from the previous franchise, Schreier said 'yeah, I think that's fair to say,' before joking that there was red sniper dot pointed at his chest. Recommended Videos 'But to be able to explore all of the ideas that are inherent to that rich source material, but also at the scale inherent to the source material, that's like a very rare and fortunate opportunity,' the director continued. 'That's very exciting.' Kevin Feige, the head of Marvel Studios, said during a previous interview that Marvel's take on the characters would be quite different, explaining that they were 'going to make a youth-focused reboot. That may be reflected in mutant castings, and it'll definitely be felt in the tone and perspective of the film.' We don't yet know what the introduction of the X-Men is going to look like in the MCU. What we do know, though, is that Marvel is bringing back much of the cast of the original X-Men franchise for an appearance in Avengers: Doomsday. Whether any of them will have significant roles remains to be seen.

CatVideoFest meows its way back into theaters

If watching cat videos was a sport, Will Braden would be its world champion. Since 2016, Braden has spent his working days combing through thousands of submissions, YouTube videos, and other clips to construct the yearly 'CatVideoFest,' a theaters-only compilation reel of our fuzzy feline friends. As Oscilloscope Pictures gets ready to release this year's reel into nearly 200 theaters beginning Aug. 1, including AFI Silver and Alamo Drafthouse Bryant Street, Braden says that the formula remains simple: cats doing flips, cats making funny noises, cats surprising you in every which way.
