What is Texas A&M's path to the NCAA Tournament after losing to Georgia?
Texas A&M (28-25, 11-19) didn't capitalize off of Justin Lamkin's brilliant day on the mound after throwing a career-high 15 strikeouts in a complete game shut down for just the second time in the last decade for the Aggies. While Lamkin's performance was certainly something to celebrate, the Aggies' Saturday series finale didn't go as planned.
While starting pitcher Myles Patton was solid through three innings, including six strikeouts, Georgia's two-run home run led to coach Michael Earley pulling the veteran for reliable reliever Weston Moss, who also allowed a two-run home run, and two more runs before he was pulled for Caden McCoy before Clayton Freshcorn and Kaeden Wilson finished out the game.
Trailing 7-4 in the ninth, all four Aggie runs came from three home runs, while Kaeden Kent's solo shot in the ninth was meaningless, as Texas A&M fell 7-5 to finish the regular season with just 11 wins in SEC play. No doubt, the Aggies' season took a significant hit after being swept by last-place Missouri at home, and with today's result, Texas A&M's path to the NCAA Tournament is much clearer.
According to D1Baseball's Kendall Rogers, Texas A&M will likely need to win the SEC Tournament next week to earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament, even though we've been told that 13 or 14 wins in SEC play would be enough to get into the postseason.
If Texas A&M had won on Saturday, two or three wins in the conference tournament would have been enough, but the Aggies' resume does not pass the smell test, and no team below 50 in the RPI has ever made the NCAA Tournament. Texas A&M is 55 in the RPI as of Saturday.

Atlanta outscored Indiana 23-9 in the decisive period. Advertisement Natasha Howard had 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Fever. Indiana coach Stephanie White announced on Monday that Clark would miss her fifth consecutive game with a left quadriceps strain. White said before Tuesday night's game that Clark participated in 'a little practice' on Monday and added it was in a 'controlled environment.' White said Clark, who was with the team and watched from the Indiana bench, would participate in more practice this week. 'The most important thing for us is to not position ourselves to have any setbacks,' White said. Indiana guard Sophie Cunningham, who has been limited to four games by a right ankle injury, also was held out. Advertisement It was the third meeting between the Eastern Conference teams this season, including two in Atlanta. The Fever took an 81-76 win before a sellout crowd at State Farm Arena, home of the NBA's Atlanta Hawks, on May 22. Atlanta won 91-90 at Indiana on May 20. The return visit to Atlanta was scheduled for 3,500-seat Gateway Arena, the usual home of the Dream, even before it was known Clark would not play. Up next The Fever will return home to face the New York Liberty on Saturday, and the Dream will host Chicago on Friday night. ___ AP WNBA:

Falcons' Kirk Cousins discusses future with team despite requesting offseason trade

Kirk Cousins is at Atlanta Falcons mandatory minicamp this week despite asking for a trade earlier this offseason. Cousins, who is in the second year of his four-year, $180 million contract he signed with Atlanta this past offseason, lost his starting quarterback position to rookie Michael Penix Jr. with three weeks left in 2024. Head coach Raheem Morris's move to go with his rookie brought about a large question this offseason: Where do the Falcons go at quarterback in 2025? Cousins addressed his future with the team just weeks away from training camp, and after no trade went down, he's looking forward to another likely year in Atlanta. "We're moving forward, and it's about how we as a team and as a quarterback room can be the best we can be in 2025," Cousins told reporters, per CBS Sports. The Falcons can still trade Cousins, but his words prove that he's ready to compete with Penix for the starting role once more. But what was considered a mentor-mentee relationship between the two in training camp last season will be much different this time around. It was clear that Morris and the coaching staff didn't trust Cousins toward the end of the season, but Penix also didn't wow anyone to the point where he should be considered the Falcons' starter going into camp. He had a 58.1% completion rate in his three starts while throwing three touchdowns and three interceptions over those games. And three games is a cup of coffee compared to what Cousins has been able to do in the league over the last 13 years. Cousins was coming off a torn Achilles he suffered with the Minnesota Vikings in his 2023 campaign. It put a damper on what he was able to do with the franchise from 2020-22, throwing for over 4,200 yards in each of those three seasons, and he earned two Pro Bowl nods in 2021 and 2022. But he led the NFL in interceptions in 2024 (16) while only throwing for 18 touchdowns over 14 starts. The Falcons went 7-7 during that time, while Cousins threw for 3,508 yards. If Penix is the way Atlanta is thinking in terms of a starting quarterback, then paying his backup $27.5 million would be less than ideal. That said, the Falcons would likely be proactive in moving Cousins to not have that cap hit on the books. That's easier said than done, but perhaps a season-ending injury for another team during the year could prompt a quick trade. For now, though, Cousins is focused on helping the Falcons, no matter what role that will be. Follow Fox News Digital's sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

LOOK: Former Ohio State receiver Emeka Egbuka shows of new Tampa Bay uniform

LOOK: Former Ohio State receiver Emeka Egbuka shows of new Tampa Bay uniform The Ohio State football program saw a whopping 14 players get selected in the 2025 NFL draft, with four of them hearing their names called in the first round. One of those first-rounders, and the first one off the board, was wide receiver Emeka Egbuka, who was selected by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with the No. 19 overall pick. So yeah, from the Bucks to the Bucs, if you will. Emeka becomes the only former Ohio State player on the roster and adds to a wide receiver room in Tampa that might be the best in the NFL. Egbuka looked great in the Scarlet and Gray (who doesn't), but on Tuesday, we got our first look at him in the red and pewter of the Bucs as he posed for some media opportunities during the first day of mini-camp in Tampa. The all-time receptions leader in OSU history won't be wearing the No. 2 we saw him in while running crisp routes in Columbus, but will instead don the No. 9 in "Champa Bay." Here's a look at Egbuka in his new digs in Tampa. Hopefully, we'll see plenty of these scoreboard videos of him during the season this fall and winter. There will be plenty of former Ohio State players running around and doing special athletic moves on the football field in NFL stadiums this fall, and we'll be here to make note of many of those moments.
